I agree with this sentiment. They shouldn't draft a QB unless they think the guy they are targeting is going to be elite. And I don't think there is anything about any of the qbs other than Lawrence that screams to me that they are going to be elite.

Mike Kaye on Twitter: "This column is about forcing a QB. If you think Wilson or Fields is a future top 10 guy go for it but if you’re simply selecting to upgrade Hurts, you’re not doing right by the long-term future imo." / Twitter

To me it comes down to, is the team better with Hurts+Chase/Smith/Pitts or Fields/Wilson/Lance? Or, in my ideal world, Hurts+Surtain+an additional third round pick.

1-6- Pitts-TE(FL)   2-38- Trask-QB(FL)  3-70- Newsome-CB(Northwestern)  3-85(from Colts)- Baron Browning-ILB-OSU  5-134- Shi Smith-WR (this guy replaced Deebo at S. Carolina)  5-140-Larry Rountree- RB- (Mizz)   6-165- Chris Rumph-Edge(Duke)  7-198- Tariq Thompson-S (SD St.)     UDFA-  Bynum-CB(Cal)    Hutcherson-OG(S. Carolina)   Chris Evans-RB-Michigan  Mustafa Johnson-DL(Colorado)  Ian Book-QB(ND)    Now you have 3 QB's competing to start Hurts, Trask and Book(who would be our #3 for the moment. Hurts should start due to his small amount of real experience, however if one of these others can beat him out, good for us, or another possibility is Ertz for Foles trade to the Bears and put Book on the PS

1-3, yards don't matter if you can't deliver

We got the 85 pick from the Colts

BTW Pitts listed as a TE,but face it,you can line this guy up anywhere(even outside to play a mismatch)

If we can trade the 6 pick and pick up an additional third (giving us three) I would be pretty happy. There are a lot of decent prospects in the third round, especially at corner, wr, DE and safety.

As far as Pitts, Adam Caplan is a believer.

Adam Caplan on Twitter: "As one offensive coach from another team said in text to me recently about Pitts after seeing tape: "he's not a tight end, he's an offensive weapon." My takeaway: use him like Raiders use Waller but even moreso as a detached OW. Going to be interesting to see where he lands." / Twitter

No if you want Pitts you gotta hold that 6. I would trade Ertz for a 3rd or Foles

Besides, we got staff that know how Pitts can be utilized, there is no "learning" there. Just need them all the get to NFL level

Wentz targeted Ertz so so so much. Then Agholor. Followed by Alshon then J Matthews.

I'll take Pitts and see if Surtain can cover him(dullaz)

Feel free to hitch your wagon to Hurts.

I'll pass.

First of all please give your thoughts on Trask

Second, then What would you do?

Yeah, thats why I want Trask at 38. A little competition never hurt anyone and right now he's(Hurts) the only QB we have, so I would draft my QB with upside(Trask),let them battle for the 1,2. Worst case is they both fan and were are out 2,2's. And let's keep this in the back of your heads. if Wentz plays well(and Hurts and Trask fan) we could have a 1 pick in 2022 and IF we needed to take a QB,we'd at least be in a position to do it

Hurts is here. Got him under contract for three more seasons....at least. Have time to make the BIG decision on paying him and making him THAT guy.

He's the only QB we have. We need to stock that pantry

This story is interesting on a lot of levels.

Carson Wentz and the Eagles share blame for what led to their breakup - Bleeding Green Nation

But one thing it mentioned is that both Wentz and Howie started to think of themselves as somewhat untouchable after the 2017 season. So on the one hand you had a GM thinking he could do no wrong, and on the other hand you had a qb who thought the same thing. So when things went south this year, you had a situation where neither guy thought it was his fault.

It sounds like Doug got caught in the middle. And it explains why Carson may have been so peeved with the Hurts pick.

It will be interesting to see if Lurie reigns in Howie, namely by making him stick to the draft board. Based on what has been reported, the team's scouts has done a good job rating players - specifically Jefferson over Reagor - but Howie has overruled them, to the team's detriment. This draft I would imagine we will see very few "head scratching picks" and more concensus BPA type picks. Dallas has done really well the last few years by simply drafting the obvious choices, especially early, and it's something we could learn from.

Thus my mock, all these players are gettable where I have them. I was first last year to go "all in" on JJ. He was my boy lol. Now I need Pitts, and Howie better wise up!!!! And TBH Ham called him first. I was all in on Smith, but after seeing what Pitts could do to destroy a defense, there is no other choice for me. Plenty of decent WR's in this draft, even late

I don't know enough about Trask to comment.

What would I do? I'd start looking for the QB of the future whether it be this year or the next. We're stuck with Hurts for at least a year for better or for worse.

Have no problem giving that guy a shot. See what he can do. You know he’s going to work hard. It appears he has a great relationship with his teammates.

I posted a couple of very interesting articles about Trask a page back. You can find some fantastic highlight films easy enough.

Here's my 85 pick courtesy of the Colts(#5) He's good in OR out

Doing the Top Six QB draft countdown. Trask is first. Sixth pick and six QBs...what else you want?

  • Author

Ideal Role: Left defensive end in a 4-3 scheme that gets chances to rush from the interior on long and late downs.

Scheme Fit: 4-3 front.
