Not at that price. Not as a backup. That’s part of why they wanted him out as a starter even.

Thats what I SAID,would like to see JP added when he is done like we did with Sproles.I was saying to hire Sproles long before we actually did

When did we hire Sproles .. compared to how long after he retired?   How much of a gap where it's " long"?

We are pretty good at giving our former players a chance on our staff if they desire it.... Really going to likely come down to JP and what he wants to do... If he is interested in coaching Philly will no doubt give him an opportunity

Our TEs by far caught more passes than any other team in the league last year. 163 receptions by TE. The Ravens trailed way back at 132, were second.

I’d be interested in the percentage of targets to the TEs between us and the Ravens....I’ll go out on a limb here and say we likely threw the ball more then the Ravens

Lamar Jackson 265 completions 401 attempts (132 of those completed to a TE)

Just under 50% of Lamar’s completions went to TEs

Carson Wentz 388 completions 607 attempts(163 to the TEs)

42% of the completions to the TE for Wentz

Proves my point, the confidence in Jackson was there

I was saying we should hire him to our staff while he was still playing

Well we had no receivers or limited receivers, thats the only decent passing option we had no? Not surprising when you are playing practice squad WR's

Trevor Williams was the unnoticed pickup. This guy could have a legit shot at CB2 opposite Slay.

If he can stay healthy he's definitely got a shot I think. For me I'd feel more confident with Williams opposite Slay than I would Maddox.

A lot of times guys like Maddox and Douglas looked bad because they were covering the other team's number 1 receiver. Williams was never the top guy in San Diego, so his tape is going to look pretty good by comparison.

I think the team will be fine at #2 CB regardless of who they put out there, simply because a lot of teams don't have two really good wideouts. Last year we got killed in games against Adams, Cooper, Diggs, McLaurin and Parker. In a game against the Giants, Slayton had 154 of the team's 200 passing yards. If Slay takes out those guys, I like our chances against the likes of Michael Gallup, who wasn't able to beat us when he had the chance.

I think Maddox or whomever wins the job will be fine, especially if the Dline shows an improvement and puts more pressure on opposing QBs.

That may be true but then Douglas gets burned regularly and Maddox is majorly undersized for an outside corner. Maddox gives me major cause for concern because he's going to be smaller than pretty much every receiver he faces.

Majorly undersized Maddox is what 5’9-5’10 and the avg. height for a Cb is 5’11-6ft???? Really think people like to blow these height things out of proportion.... Its not like Maddox is getting beat by WRs mossing him his biggest issue has been trying to jump routes double moves etc.

5'8 and as I'm sure you've been told... Those inches count.

Ever hear of a guy named Lito Sheppard?

How about Darrell Green?

Size isn't the end all.

He measured at the combine at a touch over 5'9", so unless he's shrunk, he's not 5'8".

If Williams wins the job, that's great. He has some good tape and clearly can be a solid #2 guy. But he also has health issues. And if he doesn't work out, I am not too worried about Maddox, Jones or Douglas being out there.

Another name in the mix is Elijah Riley, an UDFA from Army. He has legit speed and plenty of size. He played a lot of outside corner for Army, though the Eagles may view him as a safety. I think if he went to the combine or had a pro day, he would have been drafted, but we may have gotten lucky that he was somewhat under the radar.

One concern at CB2 is that two of the guys in the mix, Jones and Williams, have had a long history of injuries and are free agents after the season. So if one of them win the job, then the team has to make a decision on what kind of deal to give them. It would be the most Eagles thing ever to have Jones have a big year and get a big extension just to have him go full Ronald Darby on us.

I would prefer Maddox to win the job just because he has a year left on his rookie contract, the same way I want Wallace to beat out Mills. It's just better from a financial standpoint if cheaper, younger guys win starting jobs.

He is listed at 5’9 but anyway no those 1-2 inches don’t make a huge difference.

Actually with Jones we could declare a medical redshirt for his first season. So we could still have him under teaM control for an additional season most likely. If we he proved worthy.

Maddox could be utilized in several different roles. I’d say he comes in as the front runner for CB2. But somebody beating him out would seem to be the best thing for us. Then we still could utilize Maddox in sub packages and other varying roles. Also as the Swing DB as first guy off the bench anywhere on the third level. That would be ideal in my mind.

I’ve gone over the film and.....by comparing Maddox to the yard markers, the first down sticks and a fan holding a bag of popcorn I’ve deducted that Maddox is in fact......5’9”.  Purely scientific and can’t be disputed.

At least someone who played for Army will be disciplined.

Brandon Graham doesn’t have the huge sack numbers but gets pressure. "He has consistently been one of the better pass rushers in the league. He registered 67 pressures last season and has been the third-highest graded EDGE of the decade by ProFootballFocus with a grade of 92.1, behind Von Miller’s 94.6 and Khalil Mack’s 93.5.” This from PhillySportsNetwork.com. I don’t think he’s been appreciated(other than the gigantic SB play).

Sweat also hasn’t seemed to pick up many fans. But here is a comparison vs the former number one overall pick. Sweat’s salary being slightly less. Sweat ranked number two league wide vs the run. And playing many fewer snaps last season you can see how he still stacked up with Clowney. He would seem ready for a huge season.
I’d say the same for Barnett. He’s made some mistakes but really it just seems injury has been the main thing holding him up. He’s finally healthy this offseason. I really just won’t be shocked when he puts it all together this season to cause mischief every week. It’s due...time for the investment to pay off.

Brandon Graham player sparingly his early years in the league. I still think he’s at a high level. He has three years younger legs than his age would normally dictate(via his overall career snap count).

These three should really set it off this season. Especially considering the three inside a DT. Should be seeing a wrecking crew of a Dline season provided the secondary actually covers somebody(anybody) this season.
