Reportedly looking to shop Brooks.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/08/report-eagles-have-discussed-brandon-brooks-trade/

I'm definitely down with moving as many overpriced, aging vets on the decline as possible this year.  If they get a fairly decent offer, they should jump on it.

He’s kind of been the guy I’ve been thinking might be the most trade-able asset. He could actually get us something in return. We have several options for RG. Kelce announcing his return plays a role. I’m leaning towards if Kelce came back this season then....he actually will play at least two more seasons. Not just sticking around on a rebuild. I still think Brooks will be dominating though. So don’t want to Just give him away. His contract makes him move-able.

I would take Miami's 4th for Ertz. It is at the top of the round so not a big deal. Heck trade Brooks to Cincy for their 4th. Then we have a 1 a 2 and two 3rds and fourths!

yeah that's what said before Ertz for pick 123

Here's a Jimmy Kempski mock draft.

Eagles-only mock draft, version 3.0 | PhillyVoice

Some thoughts.

He and I agree on the top 5, Lawrence, Wilson, Chase, Fields and Sewell. He has us taking Lance, which seems unlikely due to the reports of Lurie wanting them to stick with Hurts. He doesn't like Pitts, which seems odd to me, but Jimmy does get stubborn with his opinions sometimes, and he has been on the "don't draft a TE in the first" train for a while. You would think he would have learned from the "Mailata can't play in the NFL" hill he died on last year, but whatever.

He has Bateman in round 2, which seems like great value if he's there, and a corner (Campbell) and RB (Gainwell) in the third. The rest is Trill Williams, Shi Smith, two DEs I have never heard of and a LB who is also unknown to me.

I think third is early for a RB, and I would rather see a LB taken there. I don't think Bateman makes it out of the first, but if he does, run to the podium. I like Trill and Smith. His late round guys seem fine. I don't know about taking two DEs that late, and would rather see a TE or DT in there, but the prospects themselves seem like they are worth it.

Ultimately, I think the decision in the first will come down to Pitts or trading back.

This first round only mock has us trading back to 12 and picking up a 2022 first rounder, which seems like a fair trade.

2021 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles trade all the way out of top 10 | RSN (nbcsports.com)

12 seems to be a good spot, although we would be behind the Cowboys and Giants, and they are projected to take Farley and Pitts, so some people on here would go into a spiral of depression if that happened. But we would get Waddle, who is going to be really good.

FWIW, this guy also had Bateman falling out of the first round, which seems really strange to me. If I knew he was going to be there in the second, there's no way I would take a receiver in the first.

Well, I think we should all wait and see what Ertz and Brooks bring us before we do any sort of speculation. If we get a 3rd and 4th it makes us able to do more in terms of moving around for players we want. I doubt we move all the way back to 12 if we get that many picks in the top 4 rounds.... I also do not see getting a 1st round pick to move from 6 to 12 either. It does not add up. Of course I would take it though.....

Time for the Eagles to start "Leaking" QB possibilities!

Like they are trying to get a trade with Ertz before they have to cut him.  " trade coming this week"  no kidden... lol

It costs about 400 points to go from 12 to 6, and a late round first is worth 600 to 700 points, so its not completely unfeasible, especially since future picks are somewhat discounted (a first next year is considered to be worth the same as a second this year.) And teams will overpay for a qb they like. But perhaps a more realistic trade is their 12th and 43rd picks for our sixth, as the 43rd pick is worth 470 points.

Then the choice becomes, would you rather have Pitts or Waddle and Asante Jr.? And for me it is pretty easy, as I would rather have two decent prospects than one really good one.

It seems feasible to me. I have no doubt the owner was very involved in the Hurts pick, and so it makes sense that the decision to build around him would come down from the top of the organization. I think Howie would be burning up the phones trying to get Fields or Wilson if he was given the autonomy to do so.

I also think Lurie is way more involved with decisions made by the team than anyone realizes.

OK we have battered every trade possibility now. We just have to wait and see who does what

So he acknowledges the concerns with Lance with regard to accuracy, mechanics, and pocket presence and still projects him to us ... considering the guy we just dealt had the same weaknesses?!?!?

Agreed

I had Gainwell on my mock also in 3,but figured we'd need other positions,so moved to Rountree in round 5. I also have Shi smith in 5. At this point,I see no reason to take 2 WR's. If we took Bateman in 2, I would just get some UDFA's to compete. I would take Pitts over a QB. Pitts and Bateman would pretty much finish the passing offense

IDK, just using logic. Howie hates to look bad(Noone really enjoys it lol). SO I'm thinking we put alot of effort into tanking the last game,to get to 6,just to trade it out? SO say we took a QB at 6. That guy WILL START. Now Howie looks bad for drafting Hurts and we re-introduce a QB controversy. So say we DONT take a QB at 6 and Hurts sucks. Howie has an out "Oh he was ONLY a round 2 pick " so really Howie has covered himself from looking bad. In order to accomplish that he CANNOT take a QB at 6. I'm believing Joe a bit and thinking Howie gives Hurts his shot. if he sucks,we make a play for Wilson next year because we will have the cap by not paying a QB THIS year. So, Howie comes out "Rosie" no matter. We could be leaking this to let other teams know if they want  us to trade back so they can get a QB, we would be willing to, although I hope we dont do it

If our 1st 2 picks are Pitts and Bateman I’d have to wonder who tied up Howie in the basement and made the picks!  That would be a tremendous start to this draft.

The cost of waiting to do business.   Massive cap hit year 5, now going into year 6 and locked in for more.

People saying Dak was dumb to not sign long term... even with brutal injury still turned out to be a wise decision on his part.  Take the tag and get even more money later.  This is with the Covid lowering the cap or he would have cashed in a little more.   It's the market now for a starting QB,  the next one we sign will be about $50 mil per year after the revenue kicks in for 2023.

Dak at least has had good teammates his career, so will be easy to justify the pay.

An interesting article from a few weeks ago.

Philadelphia Eagles: Don't discount a Rasul Douglas reunion (section215.com)

I really like the idea of bringing back Douglas. He's not a number one corner, but he was frequently put into that role in Carolina last year due to Donte Jackson dealing with injuries and did pretty well. Here, he would be the #2 guy or, if a draft pick wins that job, someone we could throw out there to cover tight ends or bigger receivers.

There is going to be very little competition for him, and according to the article, he is still on good terms with Slay and the team.

We have to sign someone in free agency, and he makes a ton of sense to me.

So, I will toss this out. Hurts can't be "the guy", yet it seems to me Dak, who was drafted in round 4 has been serviceable for Dullaz. So why can't Hurts be as good????? You can hate Dak all you want and I don't consider him elite, but for a 4th he has been serviceable and IMO we owe Hurts that same opportunity

I'm fine with bringing "lost" players back. The previous staff could not see talent if it beat them in the head with a 2 x 4. Maybe this new staff has a clue??? Jury still out,but it would be interesting if they perform now
