Fitzpatrick and Jefferson seem likely to be drafted. Both guys make a ton of sense for us.

This guy posted a round 2 mock draft with us taking Stokes, which seems right. Oweh and Newsome are off the board, and we pass on Bolton, Basham and Asante Jr.

Reid's 2021 NFL Mock Draft 6.1 | The Draft Network

Some names he didn't draft in the first two rounds - Shaun Wade (I think he makes a ton of sense as a slot corner/safety for us), Elijah Molden, Ar'Darius Washington and Jabril Cox. Give me two of those, and I would be super happy (along with Pitts in the first.)

No, there is NO WAY I let Pitts go to another NFCE team

1-6 Pitts  2-37- pick your CB of choice-(too many options here). 3-70 Jaylen Twyman-DL-Pitt  3-85 Seth Williams-WR-Auburn   5-124- Pete Werner-LB-Ohio st  5-140 Larry Rountree-RB-Mizz   6-165-James Wiggins-S-Cincy   7-198- Sadarius Hutcherson-OG S.Carolina

I need some insight from you guys:

Eagles are currently $34 million over the cap. Signing 8 draft picks will cost what? $15 million? So really $50 million over. Who are they cutting to get there? Better not be Cox. He is half their defense and the team leader at this point.

So you roll with Hurts. He is a guy with a LOT of college experience and film. I don't watch a lot of college football, but I do know that he was on teams that had talent far superior to the competition to have success. That doesn't exist in the NFL. I HAVE VERY LITTLE FAITH IN HURTS! Joemas, you live there. What are they saying in Philly about the horrible position this team is in?

They didn’t get to roll with the strength of the team in 2020 because of all of the injuries there....OLine. Now the Eagles will be forced to cut either Brooks or Johnson....bad decision if they cut Johnson. They flat out lose with him on the sidelines.

How in the heck did Howie keep his job with this absolute mess of a roster and cap situation while firing the coach AND QB?
Joemas, why the change in heart about Wentz leaving? I don’t get paid by my former employer AND force them to send me to a competitor. Why in the heck are these NFL teams allowing this nonsense? If I were Houston’s GM, Watson stays and plays or chooses not to play. Crybaby. I would have told Wentz to suck it up and EARN the job. Eagles got next to nothing for him AND are paying him $33 million. Ridiculous! STUPID!

They will be able to make a few easy moves to lower the cap hit of higher paid players - Graham, Barnett, Hargrave, Johnson. Plus they have $21 million in savings from cutting Jeffery and Malik Jackson. Also, rookie deals will be around $5 million.

Hurts has improved his accuracy, footwork and throwing motion every year since college. There is no reason to believe that he will not continue to get better. The team should see what his ceiling is before making a decision on him.

They will not cut Johnson. They have talked about trading Brooks, who is likely in his last year here. Herbig played very well last year and Driscoll is another candidate to play RG, so they have replacements waiting.

There is a school of thought that the owner is the driving force behind many of the decisions that are attributed to Howie. Hopefully the owner has learned to step back a little, particularly when it comes to draft choices and extending vet contracts. As far as Wentz, he wanted out and the team has confidence in Hurts, so get what you can for him and move on.

We agree on Pitts. At 37, I would just put Stokes in there for now. Twyman is a good pick at 70. I wouldn't draft Williams at 85 as we have bigger needs, and a guy like Shi Smith in the fifth makes more sense. Maybe Joe Tryon, an edge rusher from Washington at 85? He may drop a little bit and would be good value there. So I would swap Tryon for Williams and Smith for Rountree, and then Jefferson for Hutcherson to bring in a RB (and drafting him at 7 instead of signing him as an UDFA gives us an extra year of control if he turns into something.) Werner is fine in the fifth, as is Wiggins in the sixth.

In other news do we think a trade actually happens with Ertz now?

I mean FA TE market is decent got Ruldolph, Smith(Titans), Henry(Chargers) maybe they are not Ertz but also don’t cost you picks.

We will see within a week GB. Ertz is already on a deal so the team who gets him can get a look before committing more dollars. a 4th pick is probably the best the Eagles can do at this point. Hopefully they get something. I think they will but we will know soon enough!

Yeah I had Shi in at 5,just tried something different

IDK, WR is a fairly big need IMO. WE have Reagor and ???? Fulgham,Ward to me are BU's or should be. Getting Pitts would sure help, but we still nee a decent player with some ceiling, so that was why I put Williams at 85. I would be fine with Shi Smith in 5 if we picked up a decent FA WR,but right now I am not counting on that

Not sure I want any FA's this year. We are not going anywhere so may as well draft and Play Rookies. We get 3-4 wins and then start correcting the ship 2022 draft. This is going to take at least 3 good drafts before we can start competing again. We need to lose some aging vets and their dead money first. This team is probably the worst one we have had in over 20 years. Even with a solid draft we are not going anywhere.... Those who think so need to take a closer look. We cannot expect these old vets to stay healthy when they have not been the past 3 years....

Well we're not fixing this with 1 draft,so I suppose there are a number of combinations(aka mocks). Love Jermar Jefferson, think he is being underrated and I think he move up boards. If I don't take Rountree,I would consider him at the 6 pick. I chose to move WR up because I believe Williams could potentially beat out the others and earn a starting role. Shi Smith who I like may take a year longer to develop and actually I wouldn't be upset if we took them both. Depends on if we get any FA"s in here. If we got Mack at RB, I would be fine with taking Jefferson later. I hope that's what happens

My goal would be to win 8 games. That is double of last year, but would indicate we are moving in the right direction(like it could get much worse lol). I think Siri's play calling will be better than lame Ped's, so that should win us a game or 2 right there. I want to see some basics out of Siri. Like clock, when to go on 4th down and TO management we lacked before

Well, the fact that Avery is working with Hurts is a positive on its own. Avery can pick and choose who he works with.....

I'm glad Hurts looks good. That is what is supposed to happen lol. Takes a little pressure off taking a QB high. We still need 2 BU's. We could,as I suggested before get 2 UDFA's in White and Thomas and let those guys duke it out for the 2/3 spot, but I know Lurie or Howie loves his "vet presence" guys and alot of times that stings us later. With expectations low,I agree with you,let the kids play

RE: Stokes. Ok here we are once again blinded by speed only, and like Reagor, speed is great, but only 1 factor, so I am having a hard time just putting Stokes in at 37. We need to stop falling into the "speed trap". Most guys are "fast enough" or they wouldn't be drafted. I need to see a complete skill set

I would like Marlon Mack if that's all we can do. Seems like a nice RBBC back(93's suggestion) while we sort through the younger guys. So far I don't see any we have emerging. Mack ready to go day 1

Luckily we are still in a weak division,so I'm assuming a game or 2 we can win. I think 8 wins would be nice, 7 would be "adequate" Anything above 8 to me is a very good sign

Yeah your ideas all have merit. I found it interesting we are talking about the same guys,so at least we see things the same way as far as decent picks go. I put Hutcherson in because I want to keep the O line fresh with young talent. I still want to try Dillard at LOG(in camp) just to see if there is anything there. At any rate, I just want the same line on the field every game so they can get used to playing together. That was a big MISS last year. Taking Hutch with the last pick and grabbing my UDFA C (Dalman from Stanford) would at least give us 2 young promising guys on the O line

I replaced Rountree for this guy. Would take him in 5 NP

So, here I am   1-6 Pitts  2-37-CB of choice   3-70-Jayeln Twyman-DL-Pitt    3-85- Tylan Wallace-WR-Ok St   5-124-Jaret Patterson-RB-Buffalo.    5-140- Pete Werner-LB -OSU   6-165- James Wiggins- S-Cincy    7-198-Sadarius Hutcherson-OG- S. Depends on the FA in my eyes don’t want band aids but if we can get a guy that be part of the long term future

LOL well I'll be………someone else who is fine with mediocre this season if that's what it ends up being w/o adding any FA's. The core needs rebuilt via draft. Then add your premier pieces.

Yes, still a weak division. But I feel the NFCE is up & coming and our rivals are heads and shoulders above the Beagles right now.

One week till showtime.

A good podcast with Jason Avant and Quinton Mikell about wrs.

Jalen Reagor's "Got That Dog In Him," But Is That Enough? | "Q&A With Quintin Mikell & Jason Avant" - YouTube

Of particular note to me was the discussion on JJAW. Avant said he would be best utilized out of the slot rather than on the outside, since he can use his height and weight advantage to box out smaller corners. It amazes me that the coaching staff didn't realize this for his first two years.

Avant also said that Reagor came into the league a lot like Maclin in that he didn't know how to beat man press coverage. But he said that Reagor has a ceiling that "is unlimited."
