The Eagles are among the many teams that need to take a breather this offseason. After playing fast and loose with money in recent years, it's time to pay the bills. With Carson Wentz taking up more than $30 million of Philadelphia's cap after being sent to the Colts, the Eagles have no way of realistically building a truly competitive roster.

To prep for another Super Bowl window, the Eagles should try and get whatever they can in return for players who won't be viable then — even if it's just cap space. And in the draft, they should prioritize value over need with every pick.(from PFF)                  LMAO a "breather" HAHAHAHA

Yes, still a weak division. But I feel the NFCE is up & coming and our rivals are heads and shoulders above the Beagles right now.

Because of all those superb NFCE records? I don't see them as head and shoulders above us. They may be up a little, but it's not the cavern you make it out to be. We can close that gap with a DRAFT THAT MAKES SENSE, which of course means we won't gain anything. Lets see, last year all we were missing was: our O line, 2 starting WR's, a running game and a QB, all being guided by a coach who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag in a monsoon. So I think we are pretty close to on par with other NFCE "juggernauts"

A good podcast with Jason Avant and Quinton Mikell about wrs.

Jalen Reagor's "Got That Dog In Him," But Is That Enough? | "Q&A With Quintin Mikell & Jason Avant" - YouTube

Of particular note to me was the discussion on JJAW. Avant said he would be best utilized out of the slot rather than on the outside, since he can use his height and weight advantage to box out smaller corners. It amazes me that the coaching staff didn't realize this for his first two years.

Avant also said that Reagor came into the league a lot like Maclin in that he didn't know how to beat man press coverage. But he said that Reagor has a ceiling that "is unlimited."

Jjaw was drafted for his block out ability, at least that was the reasoning for drafting him at ALL. IDK, I would rather utilize my TE's or have a quick speedy guy like Quez in the slot. I really have seen nothing from Jjaw that screams "we gotta keep this guy". IMO Pitts solves a  multitude of issues we have, like Jjaws lack of production for one. I dont recall him being on ANYONES mock, but hey that's why we took him, so we could outsmart ourselves like we do annually. Sorry I m in "sarcasm mode"

LMAO just remember fans, we don't suck, we are not rebuilding, we are not a disaster, we are taking a 'breather"  (from what I have no idea)

GB, I love your optimism! This team is the worst one since 1999! our O-Line and D-Line is old and injury prone. We have 1 CB and 1 Safety. Lb's are terrible. RB's are weak. WR's are unproven. 1 TE and a QB with 4 games of NFL Experience!  So exactly how is this team competitive? I am expecting 3-4 wins this year and getting the rookies some experience. Hopefully Hurts pans out. IF not, we spend 2 number one picks and get a QB next draft along with more help. We unload the rest of our aging vets and dead money. Then we start competing in 2023....

I am good with that. We should have a real good feeling where are biggest issues are next draft and hopefully we can address most in next year's draft.

Oh, did I say HR is doing the draft in April?

Reagor will start. We have some pretty nice BU's in Ward and Fulgham, who has starting potential. Like to see if Hightower improves. Like to Add Pitts and a young un, doesn't need to be a top guy, but someone solid. About all I can expect for this year

HAHA no it's not MY optomism, this was how PFF worded it. It sounds so much better than, "this team sucks like a Hoover". I am all in on "taking a breather" HAHAHA

I'm expecting more than 4 wins here. I am aiming for a lofty 7. What O line we do have needs to stay on the field and maybe we have a coach who doesn't make bonehead calls. IMO thats 2 games right there(so now we are up to 6 wins) and there is always the "can happen on any Sunday",like we did last year with the Aint's, so that is how I got 7 wins lol so 7-10 seems doable

LOL well I'll be………someone else who is fine with mediocre this season if that's what it ends up being w/o adding any FA's. The core needs rebuilt via draft. Then add your premier pieces.

I'm at the top end of "mediocre" I'm looking for 7-10

Problem is you cannot expect this O-Line to remain healthy. It did not the past 3 years and is OLDER. We do not know what Hurts will do. We do not know what the WR's will do. We do not know who we will get in this draft. So..... Assuming the O-Line remains somewhat healthy (does not lose more than 1 for the entire season) and the WR's do good (not great but Good) and Hurts plays much better than we all think, we have a shot at 6 games. If HR drafts well we have a shot a 7 but that is our threshold my friend. Much more likely we end up with 4 wins plus or minus a game.

I am OK with that I might add. Maybe HR gets the boot and/or Lurie starts listening to the scouts and draft better....

This is the whole issue in a nutshell lol

Well we have Mailiata, Driscoll both with another year under their belt and we still need to find out why the hell we drafted Dillard (lol), so adding a nice BU for Lane would be nice. Maybe we have a coach who can scheme to help the O line out now? One can hope. Your QB can't hold the ball for 6 seconds a play. I also want to take Hutcherson as my round 7 pick at OG. I'm sure we will be cleaning out barrel bottoms this year in search of players that will pay us to play

Nailed it!!!!! Yeah we're trying to avoid that. I think Lurie is hoping for a discount on his buy price for jerseys he can sell.

SOOO I had Seth Williams, but I like this kid better. pick 85, along with Pitts we could be "OK" Like Smith though he needs to add some bulk/muscle 10-15 pounds, but he's pretty fast when he breaks free. Nice route tree and adjusts to the ball well

LOL yeah an exaggeration on my part.  Agree on bold text above.

Wallace, like this guy alot!! Once he breaks free he is GONE

yeah I think we can do 7-10. 9-10 wins may win this lame division. I doubt that will be us lol

I don’t see Mack as a band-aid he could easily be part of the long term process if we want him to be. Think he is only what 25 maybe he could realistically be part of a 1-2 punch with Sanders for awhile. Those are the type of FAs I would aim for.

Bandaid to me would be Djax he was never a long term solution

Eagles added two comp picks to our draft so got two extra 6th rounders to add to your mocks

They now have 10 draft picks:

1st round

2nd round

3rd round

3rd round (from Colts)

5th round

5th round (from Cowboys)

6th round

6th round (comp.)

6th round (comp.)

7th round

Grandson got a call from Mizzou today.

No offer but he spoke to the HC

I'm trying to figure out how 7-198 is a round 7 but 224 and 225 are 6th round picks?
