You just can't be wrong. If you draft a guy at 6, he has to be Herbert and not Trubisky.

Also didn’t the bears trade up for Mitch when they could have gotten Mahomes or Watson damn they must be sick looking back at that draft

Yup. That's a perfect blueprint for how you don't win a Super Bowl.

And it's sad since they have made a ton of great moves over the years, but screwed themselves by making one really bad one.

Stine, I'm with you.   But I think in 2017 we had 30 mil of dead cap space.

.

Eagles had less than 10 Mill dead cap going into 2017. Most was Bradford..... I think it was 8.6

An interesting read on the draft.

NFL Draft 2021: Where would Eagles’ Jalen Hurts rank among quarterbacks in this class? Who are late-round gems? Ask the expert - nj.com

This draft guy likes Hurts as QB5 in this class, so he's behind Lance but ahead of Jones and the others. To be fair, he had him as a first round prospect last year, so his evaluation makes sense. He sees him as about the same as Jordan Love.

He likes Chase and Pitts, and sees Waddle as a top 10 guy. He thinks Smith is more of a pick 10-20 prospect. I think he drops in that range due to his size.

One thing he said that was interesting was that Samuel could drop to the third round due to his size. If I were the Eagles, I would make sure to sign a competent CB in free agency and then make sure I go BPA in rounds two and three. I would hate to have a giant hole at corner going into the draft and have to pass on a pass rusher or LB who drops just because they need a guy.

With what Money? WE also need to sign a RB in FA. Not sure we have allot of options at all......

Here are three options.

Kevin King. He had a good 2019 but a down 2020. He has great measurables and is unlikely to get more than $5 million a year in free agency, which we can afford.

Ahkello Witherspoon. Hasn't been great in his career but is somewhat competent. Will be cheap.

Rasul Douglas. Our old friend. Good tackler, stays healthy and really only has one glaring weakness (speed.) Struggled when put into the #1 role in Carolina, which should depress his value. Seems to have good relationships here and may be willing to come back since Schwartz is gone.

I would bring back Rasul. He stays healthy and is competent. He's cheap and there are no red flags with him. Pay him $1.5 million gtd. and let him compete with a draft pick for a starting job, and if he loses that competition, use him as a role player against bigger wrs/tight ends.

I don't see us needing a RB. I would see what Holyfield has first to be the bigger back. If he fails, just sign a guy of the street. RBs are always available. Sign Richard Rodgers to be the backup TE. Maybe bring in Hooker if he signs a cheap, one year deal. Bring Curry back. That fills a lot of holes for not a lot of money.

With SD Releasing their TE, it will decrease Ertz's value. I hate to say it but we will be lucky to get a 4th rounder now. Probably a 5th or possibly a 6th now. This kind of sucks TBH...

I think whatever happens will do so in a few days. Like Jomas says, if nothing gets done, they will have to release him. I cannot believe no one would want to have first rights to negotiate a contract with him though....

He is not expensive at 8.5 Mil. If he makes it thru Camp and looks like his old self, they can renegotiate a deal that will keep him for 3-4 years...

SD the Chargers??? I mean he was a FA regardless they just didn’t re-sign him does hurt Ertz market though. Along with the Vikings TE being released

Aren’t we only like 19mil over  the cap with likely new deals for Lane/Graham on the way and Barnett likely gets a new deal which lowers his cap.

Then add in likely release of Goodwin 4m saved and Ertz being moved/released.

Eagles will have some cap space to spend in FA

If I’m Rasul I want to go back to Carolina was playing great ball for them.

True but there was talk about using the tag on him. Now who knows? You now have Rudolph, Henry and Jonnu Smith all available as FA's. Henry and Smith are younger.... Granted, there is not allot others out there as good as Ertz and none in the draft except Pitts. So we still have a shot at a 4th. I was hoping for a 3rd though lol

You make it sound like this is not a big deal. Just keep restructuring deals is what is killing this team. At some point you have to pay the piper, this restructuring has to hit us hard at some point. I don't want them to restructure anymore than they have to.

OK, so why were we complaining last year our O-Line was terrible? If these back ups are so good

OK, I guess we will see. All I see is an older group that will not play as well as they did last year. You all are optimistic. I get it. I hope you are all right and I am wrong. I see way too many questions and you see all of the possible positive outcomes. 10-6 HERE We come!!!

last year 4-11-1   WE got there with massive OL injuries(old or young if your starters and BU's are all injured you suck and age doesn't matter). Played with PRACTICE SQUAD WR's. The guys that were supposed to be "seasoned" by now were Hollins, who we lost and Jjaw who couldn't get open if he was in a room alone. Fulgham was new to this offense and the others were 3rd stringers/rooks.Who stepped up last year at RB??? Sanders can't do it alone but we expected Scott to? We had a QB who LED THE LEAGUE in Picks and sacks?? We had a coach who called bonehead plays "going for it" on 4th down with the above mentioned team instead of taking the 3. With all of the above we should, have gone 0-16. So for me fixing some of these "issues" is worth 3 more wins. FOr me the SHTF when we could not pull a win out over cincy. I wanted Wentz benched in week 4, maybe he would have got the WAKE UP call and come back in after a game or 2 and talking with his mommy. I was bashed of course and we'll never know. We lost a few games by less than 7 points and there was zero excuse for the cincy tie. we COULD have won 7 last year,I am expecting 7 this year and if we cannot fix the aforementioned problems, the whole team needs to be deported and Novacare turned into a parking deck

BTW noone STILL has stepped up at RB, so it's time to lose the losers who are sitting around collecting paychecks for doing nothing.I'm taking jaret Patterson and I hope Jermar Jefferson with my last pick. I am kicking out Clement and putting Scott and the other yahoos on notice. "nice guys finish last" Do your jobs or get the hell off my team. I will be nice after you prove to me I am getting what I am paying for

You might be exactly right but this is what the teams does it no point in fighting it now. No matter what we say on the board it is how its going to play out. The Eagles will end up with cap and will likely spend some of FA.

Still think we go QB in the top 10. Every day oh you can let them compete if you draft a QB that high because of draft politics I say that’s bogus. Get your guy let him compete with Hurts secure yourself a QB.

I we go QB I will stop being a fan-I will put all my stuff on Ebay because I will be done with this team

I HAVE NO ISSUES RESTRUCTURING ONE OR 2, especially if they are going to be around awhile. But the Eagles are probably the only team that does it as a routine for aging vets to just get under the cap annually....

Ok...hate to lose you but if that’s how you feel. Not like I have any control over how we draft

Again I agree I’ve wanted to move on from older guys for awhile I didn’t want JP back last year I wanted us to get away from Graham. But none of that matter doesn’t matter what I’d like.

So I try my best to look at what the Eagles are likely to do. Reality is we likely are going to rework Graham/Lane already reports that we are going to extend Barnett as well

This is the gamble with every player in my opinion(especially in the top 10 of the draft) Maybe QB is the worst of it but if you draft an OL you want a Lane Johnson not Luke Jockel(I know I spelled that wrong) WR you want Calvin Johnson not Roy Williams.

SO we gambled on Hurts in round 2, he has 3.5 games in with a crap team, so now you want to gamble again without knowing the results of your first gamble? That's plain stupid

If I can only have 1 FA grab,I take Marlon mack

Stupid plan is also not having a QB if Hurts isn’t the guy. But we can go round and round how we feel about this neither of us are changing our views which is fine by me.

You need to relax some not like either of us have any control on what the teams does so what we don’t agree on the moves we should make moving forward

Sorry, no here we go "coddling" again. If Holyfield can't beat out Scott by now, he isn't. Clear these 2nd rate players out. Bye to Clement also.Bring me in some young hungry lions and turn them loose in the jungle and see which one stands on the mountain

Did I say NOT to get a QB? NOPE I said taking one at 6 would be stupid. I would take Davis Mills at 189 and another as a UDFA like Brady White. If you want to pick up a cheap "vet" NP there either
