I mentioned NE as a potential trade destination for Ertz since BB loves his TEs.  Can forget that now ... after signing Jonnu Smith they are now reportedly signing Hunter Henry as well.

ONLY ONE LEFT IS Rudolph THAT is worth anything and he is coming off an injury. Gronk will not play with anyone but TB. So SD, Indy, GB, Pittsbirgh and possibly others will be asking about Ertz. Not sure how adamant Howie is about getting no worse than a 3rd, but he may have to eat cash if he wants it. League season starts tomorrow?

Why would the Eagles bring Chase Daniel back?

We need someone to be the backup. He makes as much sense as anyone.

Daniel requested to be released after the Eagles had re-signed Foles, I don't see how or why they'd bring him back after that.

Daniel SUCKS. Find another... Flacco?

For all of you Irish out there planning your meal for tomorrow; I have the perfect Corned beef process. I have tried almost all possible ways to cook them and found the best way is also the easiest. Simply cook in a crock pot for 8 hours on low. Put it in before you go to work and it is done when you get home. Cannot screw it up! Trust me, I am a very picky eater and this is so simple. Try it out....

It makes San Diego a real likely landing spot for Ertz, though. And his contract at $5 million is a bargain. So maybe we get a third after all.

True with the TE market drying up it could shift leverage in our favor.  But isn’t his contract for $8M?

No, the team trading for him would be on the hook for $4.9 million.

I thought it was his base salary that any team acquiring him would be on the hook for (which is listed as $8.5M on the OTC site).

8.5 million is the 2021 salary.  You guys are confused on what the Eagles would save in cap space.

The new team 8.5 mil barring any changes

Ertz is most likely going to get cut.  Teams know he wants out and the Eagles prefer to move on. Teams may need a TE,  but will it put them over the top?   It's the only way Eagles get any leverage with one year left on his contract...that a team will want him just for this year,  bad enough to take a chance they can't extend him.

Teams also need to think of relationships with agents, giving the release allows him to go find a job on his own terms.

Yeah, that's right, my bad, see what being away for a year does lol

Wouldn’t it make more sense to get a QB that has ties to our coaches knows the O especially if you goal is to hand it over to Hurts or a rookie QB? I’d think Brissett or Tyrod would be the top two choices. Alex Smith I’d think should be strongly consider as well another year from his injury should be much stronger then last season extremely smart guy

We also have to consider that these players might get better offers?   But I absolutely agree with your first 2 guys. Makes sense for the Eagles on multiple levels.  Smith, I can't see him wanting to come here.

I can’t see Smith wanting to come here either but I’d still look at him just my personal bias lol

Think the one favorable thing the Eagles could offer Smith would be a true competition though. I’d image that would be Smith goal to be a starter again.

I changed my mind on Ertz...  I think very possible that the Eagles could trade him with a pick swap.  Maybe get a 4th and give back a 6th.   I could see another team do that,  just not sure Ertz would be happy with that, which may be an obstacle.   He wants a new deal,  much easier to get it as a free agent

I’d image it would come down to the team and likely take between them about a new deal lot of that ground work stuff gets worked out before the trade

Idk, I would think he may want to just be in a situation where he can win.  Otherwise go live your life in retirement.  I would assume we would have to overpay to get him here.

That is possible but idk guess I don’t see Alex Smith fighting his way back from injury just to ride the bench for a championship. Think he wants to play and start again.

Right,  but look at the Chargers... they didn't want to pay Henry.... so why would they want to pay Ertz?   It's why I don't think it changes much.  Teams have minimal cap space and a player like Ertz would have to put you in contention.

I can see Indy, Seattle and Green Bay.... but I don’t think they want him bad enough to give up anything significant.  A pick swap makes sense.

But like a said Alex Smith is the long shot and my personal bias lol just like the guy easy to root for I guess

I thought it was just to prove that he could do it...an example and inspiration for people?  Plus, I don't see him thinking he could start here....it's a rebuild, playing him for a year over Hurts doesn't really do much to advance any cause for anyone involved?   I mean,  what would it benefit the Eagles?  A better record and worse draft pick, but Hurts doesn't get to play?  Idk, I just don't see it.

But from purpose to mentor, sure if he would want to do it here instead of elsewhere?

That would come down to the Eagles in my head is it a true competition or are you just handing a guy a job outright.
