SOOOOO if you have a BU vet who is a BU and always HAS BEEN,WHY would I want him teaching my starting QB?

Most backups have played in actual games some were starters before. On top of that just getting the perspective from another player is helpful especially at your position.

Id be shocked if we don’t see some type of vet QB added to the mix who that vet is who knows. Either way Eagles have only 1 QB on roster and that is going to change doubt we are going to go with Hurts and all rookies

One thing my HS coach always said "Practice does not make perfect, PERFECT practice makes perfect" SO why would I want a 2nd rate QB teaching my golden boy?

Not teaching anything,  just being able to relay experience.  And do it while saving cap and a draft pick that we could use on a guy that could actually play.

Barnett... was kinda obvious to me this was going to happen.  When $10 mil guaranteed is there for one year and you have the ability to go on the open market the following year... you don't take any low ball offer... which is what $7 mil per year would be.  Why settle for anything less than $10 mil per year if you are him. Especially now that it's guaranteed.

One thing they have discussed on the local radio is the possibility of getting Watson next year should hurts not work out. I am dead set against this. Watson had his contract reworked and now wants out? This is totally different from Wentz in that Houston did not draft a QB in the 2nd round and told him that he is their QB from now on. He has no one to compete with.

So what happens when he gets here and cannot work with Howie? We have another issue.... No way. Stay clear of this cancer. I really Hope Hurts works out. I also hope Wentz works out too so we get a #1 pick next year...

I can’t call Watson a cancer because of what they’ve put him through. That’s one of the only organizations that’s clearly been run much worse than ours.

Why then do you pay QB coaches????

Why do I want a 2nd rate teacher??? Experience is gained on the field not, with words. DO they have "vet presence" QB's in college? Or did the coaching staff get them NFL ready????

Jags getting calls on Minshew makes sense dude as played well over two years on the right team could win games for you.

Bears if they strike out with everyone else Minshew wouldn’t be bad competition with Dalton. I think Dalton and Minshew are upgrades over Mitch.

How many backups can you stack on one team?

The obvious answer is because who knows what happens. 7 mil a year for four years with incentives could be very enticing. A bunch of guaranteed money that a future can be planned with.

Minshew has pretty good track record of play and he is a backup Hurts was terrible but he is the future that doesn’t add up to me.

Yea most college teams have Juniors and seniors on the roster don’t see many freshman QBs starting day 1 in college. Never a bad thing to have a player perspective

I was near fame as a musician once. I knew a ton of famous people(still do). I met Aldo Nova. He was a young upstart rocker who had a HUGE hit with his song "Fantasy".We talked for a long time as he was considering signing with Bon Jovi's agent. I told him do NOT do it, you have your own style, you have a hit, keep doing what you're doing. I told him if you sign your career will suffer. He did not listen to me and signed. Bon Jovi's agent tried to make him a clone, his next album died and he quit music. I saw him again at a party in Canada, after he threw in the towel. We talked a long time and he said your advice was spot on and my career was ruined how did you know? I said because you put your potential in someone elses hands. I think the same way about "vet" QB's. Why learn someone elses failures?(not saying Bon Jovi was a failure but a clone was) I'm sure everyone on here will disagree, but that has been my personal experience FWIW but I am used to standing alone.

Mostly because Freshman QB's don;t play. They need the ON field experience

They still have the vet college QB and when it’s finally there turn they are the new vet college QB for the next group of young guns.

Coaches job is to coach you but have insight from players that play your position been in situations your dealing with shouldn’t be taken for granted either. It’s a completely different perspective talking to a guy that has actually played at the NFL level at your position.

Malik and Alshon are released not shocking news but it’s official now

Heard a rumor Eagles are interested in Will Fuller. Dude can play when he is healthy problem Is he is never healthy and our medical staff is trash so what could go wrong lol

Teams change, different players and once again thats why there are coaches. If a  freshman never takes a snap he WONT play as as senior I dont care how many mentors you bring in

Or you take the 10 million and go on the open market next year.  Pass rushers always get overpaid.   If you are his age... and as someone would put it... " waiting to be unleashed " you don't settle for less than 10 mil per year.  Not during this year where the cap is way low. You want to go into next year with either a tag or freedom to negotiate on the open market.  Especially knowing that you have the team by the balls, since they have incentive to lower your cap hit.

It's not really a " tangible" thing

Dude... I know you like to really work hard to get your idea across ...it's OK to disagree.   Your theory is nice... it's not about the play, or your boy Josh McCown wouldn't have offered much.  Sometimes it's about all the other stuff.... and yet again,  it's not the main reason.    Saving cap space and being able to use a pick for something else.

It's all about Hurts right now. Just him.  Plenty of time to take flyers on guys later.   With 36 holes to fill , and not much money,  good time to draft all guys that might have decent shot at actually seeing the field.

Thoughts on Trey Lance....if he is available at 6? Based on what I saw on his pro day, I think he will be the 2nd or 3rd pick. I was impressed. Am I the only one?

Well that's actually the point. We all know we aren't going anywhere far this year. So lets get in the QB's. We have time to sort through them. QB is the most important position on the team,so let's get started with the sorting. Maybe we find none, but that doesn't stop me from trying. We can see with Denver how bad Elway is at picking QB's. We may be slightly better(not by alot),but new staff now,so the more young guys the better IMO. Siri is young for a coach. Bring in the young QB's and let him do the job he was hired to do. Hopefully we can hit on a few guys and build next year. But QB is the guy that leads the team. I dont want re-runs/has beens, I want the most young guys I can get my hands on. So we indeed differ. We tried the "dream team",that didnt work. What worked in 2017 was everyone pulling together due to losing Wentz. I want that SPIRIT back. Old guys aren't gonna give you that. Let's try something DIFFERENT. bring in the young guys, let them play and earn their way. When I worked I had no mentors,I had to succeed or not on my on merits. I'm sure you did the same,so why should it be different with a football team? I want to take fliers NOW and more fliers next year. if you want the "safe bet" we will be the team that goes .500 again. We are used to that, but I want more. Not this year, maybe not next year but I want to see the process of thought change. Stop bringing old guys back. The future is YOUTH. let's get started. And while some vets are needed, let's not drag our feet as we usually do (see Peters). Lurie still needs to grow a pair. I don't see that happening, but I refuse to lower MY standards. Someone needs to kick some arse. What happened to "we're from Philly and we fight"? I think we forgot all that. We had that in '17 and I want that back. And as you consistently say, the BRONZE is not my goal

I hope we don't even do it if he is there.Impressive? Maybe, but he had a TEAM. What do we offer him right now?? I would say not much. IMO Hurts is "expendable" Maybe he lights the fire(we can hope) maybe he goes down in flames, but until we get a sold team in here at all positions,I dont see a QB that wants to bust his balls to play here. Remember 2018? When guys WANTED to play here? That is GONE because Howie couldn't keep the team solid.I really hope we EFF up this draft,so Lurie can finally see Howie is the cancer that needs cut out. He's fine as a contract guy but he SUCKS as a "football" guy. Hire a damn REAL GM,until that happens we peak at .500 as usual
