So with the dual S signings, we are free to go CB at 37(which is how I have it) It will be interesting to see how our secondary scheme changes

My boy(from long ago) Perryman(WR) to Detroit

Ridgeway re-signed and 2 S's. Gannon is getting wants he wants on D. Opens us up for a little more O in the draft

I would look at Mark Ingram as a cheap RB signing/stop gap. He's 31, so no long term thing, but he could buy us some time

We are almost certainly going to play a cover two scheme that will be heavy zone. I don't think Harris would have signed here if we were going to be running anything different. If McLeod is healthy, that gives us three good pieces in the secondary, with Maddox likely to be a plus starter in the slot. I still hope they sign a cheap corner (still holding out hope for Rasul) so we can focus on BPA in the draft and not worry about filling any holes.

Well with 1 year "show me's" it could indicate those are the positions you will draft to avoid having to get FA's there again. I think Harris has shown he can play, so why only a 1 year unless that was requested by the player? I would like to see longer term signings

Seems many of these players aren’t getting the offers they’d expect in a normal year due to the cap being lower as a result of the pandemic, so they are settling for 1 year deals hoping to cash in next year (see JuJu).

Ingram signed with Houston.

I’m not sure honestly. I haven’t seen anything but could have easily missed it

Apparently Hooker has not signed anywhere yet.  He has a meeting lined up with Dallas.

After signing Harris though S is no longer an immediate need.  I do think it is probably in their best interest to add one in the draft though.  Both McLeod and Harris are currently only signed for 2021, so get some young blood in there (with Wallace) to start grooming.

So got Harris one of the best cover S in football got Adams who is a good ST and backup S. Snag Adoree Jackson and we might just might have a decent secondary lol

Google Marcus Hayes from the Inquiror... most recent article on Wentz. That is the Philly media agenda.

Ah good ol Marcus Hayes, think I'll pass on the article, not reading his slop.

Some thoughts on the Harris signing.

1. He had an interesting career. He was a backup until 2018 when Sendejo got hurt, and then just owned the position (which led to Sendejo being released, where he landed with...us.)

2. When we cut Sendejo in 2019, he was signed by the Vikings, who tried to sneak a player through to the PS. But that player was scooped up by the Eagles. His name...Marcus Epps.

3. When Sendejo was placed on IR in 2018, his roster spot was filled by an UDFA corner. That corner was later cut by the Vikings at the end of training camp in 2019. His name...Craig James.

By all accounts (and the Harris signing further solidifies this point) we will be running a defense a lot like the Vikings did when Gannon was there. I think it helps to have players like Epps and James on the roster who have played in the scheme. James has obviously struggled with injuries, but hopefully he can provide some depth this year.

Epps gives us a solid third corner option if McLeod is healthy, and a reasonable starter if he isn't. His scheme knowledge should put him way ahead in training camp. And by all accounts (based on what was written at the time) the Vikings made a mistake by trying to sneak him through to the PS.

Also interesting to note, when Sendejo went back to the Vikings, he was used in a matchup role. His snap counts the rest of that season were either feast or famine. My guess is that Wallace will be used in a similar way here. So, draft picks aside, my guess would be that Maddox and Wallace alternate as the fifth DB depending on the other team's base package.

A good interview with Nate Herbig, who broke down some tape.

His last sentence, "A lot of people are sleeping on the Eagles, but we are coming."

He talked about being benched and was really humble about it. His attitude seems to be, keep getting better until they have to play me.

Caplan isn't very high on this kid, but I see a player who is a plus starter.

Sorry I am not you and spend every waking moment crapping all over the team I allegedly support.

I know.  You spend it finding ways to turn all the bench players into all pros

1-6 Pitts   2-37- Greg Newsome -CB-Northwestern   3-70-Tylan Wallace-WR-OK st.  3-84-Jaylen Twyman- DL-Pitt    5-150-Jaret Patterson-RB-Buffalo    5-156- Derrick Barnes-LB-Purdue   6-188-Davis Mills-QB-Stanford   6-223-Brendan Jaimes-OT-Nebraska   6-224- Darrick Forrest-S- Cincy    7-233- Kendrick Green-IOL-Illinois   7-238 Tuf Borland-LB-OSU   I would also like to get the C from Stanford as a UDFA to compete for the job replacing Kelce

My mock is a youth injection pretty much across the board. Let the coaches coach, let the kids play. I'm "insisting" my first 3 picks start

Here's Wallace. I think he is being underrated

In this case we are seeing progress from a player. Isn't that the point? That's why they draft 7 rounds. There is talent there in those later rounds/UDFA that must be worked with. I like this kids attitude that he will keep working because he doesn't like sitting on the sidelines. No prima donna here. Some of these late guys have the raw talent and take longer to develop than your 3rd rounders. His last game he had ZERO hurries. That's a nice way to end the season and set up for a better year following that. He understands the best player will play and he is determined to be that player,so kudos to him

That's great.   I feel the kid should be continuing to play and develop.  I feel that is the difference between the Eagles and the rest of the division.   The Eagles will now put this guy on the bench. The other teams are playing their developing players and playing them in a role that they have played and next to guys they have played with.   Not only does the player develop,  but so does the chemistry within the unit.

Where is the kid playing in 2021?  Where is he playing in 2022.  Who is he playing next to.   Is his position coach going back to Alabama if Marrone takes another job?   Same question for Mailata and Driscoll.   Is it smart to take away game reps both individually and as a unit from these guys.

For what was anticipated as a subdued FA for us, we're making a few moves. I really like the Harris signing, may have even tried for a longer contract. Know he had a down yr, have a good feeling about him. Mills was not used properly for a number of yrs, still all his fouling ( esp on important plays ) made me wish we'd let him go yrs ago.

Well obviously you play the best player, so maybe he can reach his potential. I don't think that is "cheerleading". He will either reach his potential or we will find someone better, so JSB is just pointing out that he is making progress. I really don't care if he is all pro/ pro bowler. Protect my QB. His last game(the tank game) he had no hurries,so that's what you build off of

yeah the Harris signing is really excellent. I hope we give him a team he wants to stick with later(remains to be seen). Those 2 S signings really take some pressure off the draft. I like my mock, but could easily see us hitting more defense than I have. TTR pointed out the 1 year could be a covid BS thing. Some are scared to commit long term. Can't blame them(or the team) for doing 1 years for now
