There's a lot of work and growth to do on offense, that's for sure.

I'm not convinced they all make it though. I have serious reservations about JJAW and I have some concerns about Dillard's strength and sustainable physicality. If he's been working on strength, Pryor should be OK at RG. Sometimes WR's take a couple years to hit their stride so, they're a mystery right now. I hope they learn quick and show enough in their rookie year to instill confidence going forward. Reagor should do that. The others? Have to wait and see I suppose.

I feel real good about Wentz, Sanders, both TE's, and D-Jax (if healthy). I want to see Seumalo improve a lot. Kelce and Lane are still great so if LG is good to go, helping Dillard if needed won't be a big deal.

Seriously,I really don't care about Jjaw at all.We coddled the ever injured Hollins for years.Let's not do that BS again.Either he cuts it NOW,or he GETS cut. Can't expect stardom from him,but he needs to show us why we drafted him where we did. Show me a SOLID,productive stat line. It's a thin line between development and wasting time.We need to know the difference

LMAO,ok tell me where in the world there is no covid to expand to? You want to invest billions into London,China mexico City with 15 fans that show? Doubtful.I think the NFL is in "hang on " mode like many businesses. As for Goodell,he can KMA and I won;t be buying gear this year. After working decades to end segregation, they are pushing us into segregation-.pathetic.I will kneel for the new "anthem" and stand for the real one.if we are not ALL Americans,243 years of history means ZIP

If the NFL allows kneeling and plays a "Black National Anthem" I'm stuffing everything I ever bought Eagles wise and sending it back to the NovaCare Complex.

There is ONE national anthem and i'm not gonna stand for a bunch of spoiled brats running everything down that my family and I sacrificed to preserve.

Not sure where to draw that line on JJAW. PAC players come in late to TC. So they are at a disadvantage their rookie seasons. Then we tried to teach him multiple positions. The good part about that is maybe a lesson was learned there that will benefit our rookies this year. The main thing is we fired our WR coach. Looked like Groh took a more hands on approach at the end of the year with the receivers. That’s several excuses for JJAW....but they are legit excuses. So I’m not holding much against him to this point. But now we have more issues ahead. What kind of TC will he get to improve? Will there be any preseason games to improve? Really difficult position JJAW has been put in. I wouldn’t give up on him this season though. We have a good quality receiving coach now. But he has to get time to work on him.

With the way the numbers have been skyrocketing with this virus I just can’t see how they can play football. Doesn’t seem very realistic at this point.

His big "thing" was his block out ability. I did not see it.He had that coming in(and a big reason we drafted him).We gave Hollins excuses too,MS 2-excuses.You gotta know when you are wasting your time.I am not against him, nor giving up,but he needs to show me a reason to stay here.OK rookie year, and he wasn't ready to play the big dogs.I get that,so now show us why you are special or if you are just another run of the mill guy we drafted too high

More testing, of course the numbers are going to go up. Noone mentions the 99.2% survival rate.At this point Goodell has ruined football for me.I have no clue if I will even watch or not and I'm sorry I renewed my fantasy league. If I watch at ALL,I may watch the 4th quarter if I am really bored,or lets just have segregated leagues since we apparently accomplished nothing the last 243 years.Teams changing names too.To hell with that BS as well. NFL is a kowtowing group of overpaid prima donnas (just like the loser NBA) and I would love nothing better than if they had to go back to the old days of playing for $300.00 a game

You're gonna get no argument from me about that. But the only way it's gonna is through a constitutional convention or violence.

I prefer the first choice

As far as the stimulus goes that's what you get when you write a bill, pass it and dole out the money before anyone even read the bill.

I watch football to get away from the pettiness of politics. If a bunch of millionaires chose to stick politics down our throat in that arena I will tune out the NFL and sadly the message they are trying to present.

I took an oath to protect and defend the constitution against ALL enemies. Foreign and domestic.  That means something to me. We are 1 country, white, black, asian and everyone in between. I'm sure we agree on most things maybe just not how to get there.

I wish we lived closer. I'd love to sit down with you and discuss these things over a beer or 2.

It’s not the greatest football. The outcome on the scoreboard doesn’t matter much. But development and judgement of talent is crucial. Gotta find these guys anywhere you can. The difference of a guy making the roster or going to another team depends on it. Clement had several quality moments in the preseason. Undrafted but stuck. Ended up with 100 receiving yards in the Super Bowl. So to me every evaluation of these depth guys is crucial. Like NC brought up...the Philly Special was our backup QB, undrafted RB and third string TE. Last season we didn’t keep enough pass catchers on the roster and it bit us big time. Terribly obvious mistake. Probably should of prevented us from the postseason.

Well... 2 things.

   1. When we cut the August all stars, everyone always gets angry.  Probably because many coaches look at the 30 practices more so than the few plays we see in a preseason game.  I don't think Clement made the team due to any pre season game.

2.  Yes... pretty much we agree the issue was keeping all the extra developmental linemen last year... it caused issues in being short on receivers/ TEs...  cost us ATL game and who knows what else.     It's why I don't want to do the same with WRs now.  If you have DeSean,  Reager, JJAW, SF guy... Alshon on the PUP.  Now you want to add 3 more to the roster to " develop " ?

I'm good if Ward earns a spot, and he could replace SF guy... either way there is room for one more that should be your starting returner.  The other guy could end up on practice squad or replace SF guy.

What I would prefer to avoid...is what happened last year with the limited roster because we had to have 7 DEs and too many developmental OL.

Been a long time since last season. Carson has so many abilities. He does a great job of reading the defense. Excellent at throwing on the run. Just look at the different balls he throws. Some with that zip, like the one to Sanders in the back corner of the endzone that goes by three guys outstretched arms. Still don’t know how he Houdini zipped that pass in there. But then he also utilizes his height and can put a slight touch on throws to just arc and clear over a defender. So many very beautiful plays.

Time for his MVP season now!

Hard for QB to have MVP season without his weapons having either above average talent or high level chemistry.

Go watch Joe Montana play vs Washington in the NFC title game in Jan 1984.  Mike Wilson was his best target.  The best game I've seen a QB play, didn't make the top 10 in the NFL networks list of top Joe M games. No Rice, no Clarke...etc.

Unfortunately as Jaws once said in local radio... " the QB is the most dependent position in sports" your success relies on too many other people.  Wentz himself is the least of my concerns, what we put around him will be the issue.  Too many " developmental WRs just like too many developmental OL or DEs " is probably not a way to go.

We had the second oldest team in the league last year. We are all capped out. Just really nowhere else to go but a youth movement.
2018 draft class: Mailata, Pryor, Maddox, Sweat and Goedert

2019 draft class: Miller, JJAW, Sanders and Dillard

We have to rely on all these guys to come through and become the foundation of our franchise. Just added a big draft class this year. But it’s hard to complete the youthful transformation if guys don’t make the team. Had some quality undrafted guys added as well. Where the team is at in three or four years depends on it.

  • Author

Always is a balance between youth and aging vets. Do we need the HoFJason Peters at the end of his career? Or should we turn the job over to the first round pick Dillard? It’s also a balance between this year and the longer term team needs.

  • Author

Looks to me like this is our team, for the most part, for the next three seasons.

  • Author

Our biggest upcoming loss would appear to be at WR. DJax and Jeffrey are on borrowed time. So we need to develop some WR. We stocked up the cupboard with this draft(probably include JJAW). We need Hightower, Watkins or Bailey to step up. That looks clearly like the plan. Not just the 2020 plan...but longer term. But I don’t think anybody would tell you any of those three are expected to be ready by week one. So what do you do?

No we didn’t lol he had a strong rookie year as the 4th WR, went on IR his 2nd year(doesn’t effect anything being on IR didn’t use a roster spot or anything). Released his 3rd year soooooo how did we coddled him for years lol.

Mahomes signed a 10 year deal to stay in KC

As an agent or a QB not sure I’d want my QB to sign a 10 year deal. Guess he has security and no doubt enough money for multiple life times but at the same time the way the QB market resets how long until he is underpaid again??? 2-3 years and he still stuck in his 10 year deal with little leverage

Being the best player in the league is enough leverage regardless. But we’ll see this deal reworked multiple times I’m sure. I haven’t seen what the figures even are. It has to be astronomical. How could it not be the biggest contract in the history of the game?

  • Author

Twelve years of big money is easily assumed here(counting the two more years he’s already under contract). Likely very high guaranteed money. Of coarse you take it. Without knowing any details this is the most complicated contract in NFL history. I have zero problems making that assumption.

  • Author

Really a perfect storm for a big contract. You have a player that’s the best in the game that just won his first Super Bowl. But he also got injured. It looked close to a very serious injury.

No it’s not enough leverage lol fact is nothing Mahomes can do if after 2-3 years he is massively underpaid again. Which is likely the way the QB market resets

BG the NFL looks vulnerable for once. Feels like the first time the league money making isn’t going to increase. The American economy looks really bad right now. Not a very pretty picture going forward I’m afraid. Not sure how to get into all this without it getting too political? But there are tons of old baby boomers. They are feeding off the system more than feeding the system at this point and going forward. The National Debt seemed unwieldy and out of control before 9/11. It’s done nothing but grow leaps and bounds since then. Lost our countries triple A credit rating. All the government wants to do is spend more. Trying to keep this to a very simplistic short version of the fact that the NFL money making machine might not be guaranteed to keep generating more revenue each season like its always done.
