Horn, Newsome 1/2. I could think of worse scenarios . At least we'd have some future CB's to go with our FA safeties. It's like a dang dartboard, we need everything

I’m expecting a second

Why?

Well I would be ok with that then, if it was the first one, thats dumb AF and would totally kill the QB room lol. He needs to be CLEAR before he spouts off

Why are you afraid of competition for Hurts? If he can’t EARN the job, then he doesnt belong anyway.

Which QB you getting  that (being your round 1 pick) would start day 1? at pick 12? Or are you sitting your round 1 pick?

I’m disappointed with the trade down BELOW the divisional opponents, but with Roseman’s past draft failures it probably doesn’t matter anyway.

Yeah no doubt.  Hoping Wentz can stay healthy for all of 2021 but his struggles continue as he tries to overcome whatever mental hurdles built up over the past couple of seasons here and Reich refuses to bench him hoping he’ll work his way to overcome them.  Him playing a full season and Indy missing the playoffs is best case scenario IMO.  Probably wishful thinking.  Probably also wishful thinking Miami will tank.  But we shall see ... anything can happen.

The hurdles being play calling,  lack of protection  and poor weapons?  Indy has those covered.   A 7th seed out of 16 teams last year,  but as JBS pointed out, they lost their long time LT.    They kept their own guys mostly in FA, so it's what your opinion is of Wentz compared to Philip Rivers with basically the same group other than the key LT spot.

This should be a very telling season.  One that could make the Eagles FO really look bad if a mediocre Indy team ( which there is no debate a 7th seed is in relation to a 16 team conference) suddenly gets elevated by really one move.

We shall see... we already know what e last 8 years of Andy in KC look like in comparison to his last 8 years here.   Be interesting to see the effects on a QB.

If your opinion is low on Wentz, then you could expect a pick in the teens, since pick 18 is the best non playoff draft spot.   If it's high,  probably in the range of 28-32.   But he won't have to overcome those main 3 things,  too pass heavy play calling, putrid blocking and pathetic weapons.  And most likely they won't be playing musical chairs with the lineup each week due to injury. But who knows.

I'm more interested in watching Miami, with the Bills and Patriots,  good shot they are 3rd in the AFC East, and better chances for missing the playoffs.

Not afraid, I welcome it. Maybe Flacco will start? I'm all for getting some young QB's in here, but I'm not taking one at 12 when we have an entire team to re build. I'm not exposing a franchise QB to the team we put on the field last year. I' hoping to get that guy next year

I’m just curious as to why you think it would be stupid to say the QB job is up for grabs? Hurts did not impress in his 4 starts last year....he won one game vs a BACKUP QB.
That’s all. I just think he is below average. He is cheap. I guess there is that.

I Really like the Pitts kid from Florida. No chance he lasts to 12. I do NOT want the Eagles to draft Smith. GREAT KID! But an accident after a big hit in the NFL.

yeah that bothers me alot(and I said so). I can see us now trying to defend Pitts when Dullaz takes him lol

I can respect that. I think the Eagles will have a top TWO pick next year. 2021 season is going to be PAINFUL!

Oh it's up for grabs, but NEXT year. in my view Hurts is a place holder while we rebuild this lame team

Well... in reality this is probably the last time for a while that we will be picking below any division opponent.  Unless round 4 we are also doing so?  But that's really not going to be an issue much these next couple of drafts. For it to happen this one pick ( And as a fan base we always put so much emphasis on the next pick) I think it's worth the trade.

If Wentz plays well we will have 3 round 1 picks next year. if we can't get a decent QB out of that I give up

We can use one of the 1's to move up for whomever we want and trade the other 1 back for more picks(if we have 3- 1's)

Aaron Rodgers is also a FA next year

I don’t see Wentz making it through 75 percent of the snaps.

This would have been a great move had Howie had a history of drafting well. However, he stinks drafting talent. The pick at 6 was a slam dunk for getting a generational talent in either Chase or Pitts. Now I am afraid Howie will draft a WR at 12 which would be the dumbest pick he could take. On top of that, he will say that this is the player they were targeting all along!

Look, it makes sense in that, if Hurts fails, we will have plenty of Ammo to grab a QB next year. But that won't matter if Howie screws up all of these other picks. We now need to grab Best defensive players available at 12 and in the 2nd round. Grab a WR round 3 and another Defensive player. Build up that defense. Maybe even trade Cox to get more youth and save money at the same time. Trading Cox while you can still get something for him makes a whole lot of sense. It would also be good for him to play for a contender his remaining years.

This whole trade stinks. Miami fooled all of the NFL on this one. Great moves by them IMO. They grab draft capital and still get their player in Chase....

The hurdles as is bad mechanics, poor decision making, etc.  (that came about as a result of those issues you listed ... lack of protection, poor weapons, etc).  Though it is kinda hard to know if Doug's play calling was truly that bad or not if there is any truth to the rumors that Wentz went rogue and called out of plays as frequently as they say.  For the record I don't think he is going to struggle as much as many think, it is more just wishful thinking on my part to get the higher pick.  I do think he is going to a much better situation where they have a much better team and he and Reich seem to be very close which will help a ton.  And Reich is the one that Foles mentioned changed up the offense to suit his play style so I don't have much doubt he will do the same with Wentz and design an offense that tailors to his strengths.  Again, I just hope it takes a bit to overcome that shell shock state he is in so we get a better pick.

Ideally both Miami and Indy miss the playoffs.

Didn't he do that basically every year so far?   Plus it's 70% unless you think the Colts won't make the playoffs.

I think right now your emotions are clouding your common sense.   I think you get your perspective back in a year or so.

Here are reasons why to me its a no-brainer trade.

1. Nobody is guaranteed to either be there at 6, be a generational talent or not be there at 12.

2.  We forget the 3rd option here.   Jason Peters,  Amari Cooper and Stefan Diggs.... one guy we traded a 1st round pick for,  2 other guys we should have.

For me...it's because of Howie's drafting that this makes sense.  You can trade a pick for an established 25-26 year old player.  Established,  not projected.   Big difference.

The 3 first rounders next year for a major trade is also there, but not a top priority for me.  The other QB will still have to agree to a trade.  I think this is a key part that a lot of us seem to miss... how undesirable a destination Philly is at the moment.

I think we get more clarity after watching this year.   " it's a miracle"  lol.  Amazing how surroundings can effect a QB.  Not having to worry about getting put on your butt each play,  having competent WRs.   And yes, Doug's system, probably a better term than play calling.   I actually think Doug is a good play caller when someone else designs the plays.   Just that it's obvious you need to run more, quick short passes don't work unless WRs get open quickly.  A QB who is good outside the pocket should have more rollouts.

And a big thing here... Reich played I'm Buffalo, the K gun offense. The QB called plays and had control.   Doug is an Andy disciple... they don't like their QB with control. Much different.  There was nothing on the 2020 Eagles that either fit style or offered anything extra talent wise.     Watch the difference and it's not going to be anything spectacular or " fixed"  just normal stuff as opposed to total chaos and ineptitude/ inexperience around him.

Well, I disagree totally with this. First, there is a definite advantage to getting a premier talent at 6 vs 12. Even Howie could not screw that up. Just remember Chase and Pitts and watch them play. Then you tell me next year how bad they are.

Trading a 12th pick for a proven player makes absolutely no sense. We are cap strapped as it is and you want to take on more cap? Really?

Last, Why trade away 3 first round picks for a vet that has 3-5 years left and have to pay 25+ mil for when, again, you are strapped for Cap space. If Hurts fails the Eagles will pick in the top 10 again, so they have plenty of Ammo to grab a QB next year in the draft and keep the Cap space.

Wen need to make a list of the "generational talent" players who have failed miserably

I'll start with Tony Mandrich, OT, Green Bay

If the Eagles manage to get 3 1st round picks next year they're bound to hit on one of them.

Aren't they

Indy should win their division,  that's without anything special from the QB.  Tennessee lost some talent to free agency this year.  The other 2 teams I don't see being any good,  could be worse than the Eagles again.   The thing that could keep them from getting a top 3 seed is that schedule.   NFC West, AFC East and Tampa is their 17th game.   That is pretty tough, especially considering having to travel multiple times to each coast.
