This is why it's nice to have a ton of picks this year.

Adam Schefter on Twitter: "Duke CB Mark Gilbert, cousin of Darrelle Revis, ran a 4.36 today at his Pro Day today. Gilbert was considered a potential first-round pick two years ago, when he was originally draft eligible, before he suffered back-to-back injuries. But he’s now officially healthy." / Twitter

He had a big year for Duke as a sophomore in 2017, 6 INTs and 15 PBUs, but then got hurt and has been battling injuries ever since. He's older, but he's also the kind of prospect that a sixth or seventh round pick would be perfect for. If he doesn't work out, fine. But if he does, he has a ton of upside.

Draft someone with a history of injuries?

If the medical team tell Howie not to do it though... He'll pass and we could have another Metcalf on our hands. That said if he takes him he'll probably not shake his injury history.

Agreed, we do seem snakebit in that regard. But it's nice having 11 picks so we can take risks like this that teams that have six or seven picks can't.

In the sixth or seventh round? The juice is worth the squeeze. It's not like taking someone in the second.

Well we have 11 picks for now. Let's see how long that lasts as no doubt Howie is going to move around.

An article about the team trading down.

2021 NFL Draft: Here's why Bengals influenced Eagles to move down six spots to No. 12 overall, per report - CBSSports.com

Apparently the Eagles felt that Cincy is going to draft Chase, who was their top target, and decided to trade back rather than to trade up ahead of them, which is smart IMO.

Ironically, now the team can keep trading back, especially if the Dolphins take a WR at 6. At 12, there might be a top OT prospect available, and plenty of teams might be interested in swapping picks, including the Dolphins. The Dolphins have pick 50, which is worth 400 points, and the difference between 12 and 18 is 300 points. So they may be interested in trading up if Darrisaw or Slater is sitting there. And I don't see a team between 12 and 18 who would be that interested in a wr, but a bunch of them might take an OT. Plus, Bateman and Toney are draftable at 18, if they are set on a wr.

Cincinnati is an annual clusterf---.  If they take anything besides one of those big tackles, they're crazy.  The need to keep Burrow upright and protected.....what good is a top flight receiver if the QB is getting hammered?

But hey, it's the Bungles.

OH BTW Trent Green led the league that year(with 24) lol

Trent Green also been in the league awhile wasn’t some rookie... Peyton still threw more picks then Wentz he was a 4 year pro.

Chazz Surratt is a linebacker we have been linked to. He ran a 4.58 at his pro day at 6'2", 229 pounds, and put up 25 reps on the bench press, which is pretty good.

He is definitely a solid third round prospect.

Rather have Parsons and snag a CB in round 2 hell I’d even double dip in 3

If we move Maddox to S that leaves us only 3 CBs Slay, James, Jaquett... Two of them are unknowns  and Slay is 31 I would not mind coming out this draft with at least 2-3 CBs

IDK why not take a top WR and get an OT in round 2???. Right now we are the biggest clusterf in the league. At least they have a QB lol

Didn't we just pick up Adams and Harris as S's in FA????

SO JSB these guys are ranked very close. Probably personal opinion but out of Browning, Surratt and Moses who do you like the most? All 3 are very close to where we will pick

What does that have to do with Cb lol... As for Maddox still think S is his best spot plus good chance McLeod won’t be ready for the start of the year

How many S's do we need when we lack at CB???LMAO

Did they also lead BOTH categories at the same time?

So Maddox plays S we need him to drop to the slot in nickel sets not an uncommon move did it all the time with Jenkins here. I’d rather play guys in areas of strengths.

Well then we had no need to go get TWO S's in FA if we thought he could/would play there

Didn't he do that basically every year so far?   Plus it's 70% unless you think the Colts won't make the playoffs.

I think right now your emotions are clouding your common sense.   I think you get your perspective back in a year or so.

Dude was injured two times in college. Three of his five years here. I’d say the odds are against us getting a first round pick.
