https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-scouting-report--qb-trey-lance   My argument FOR him would be A) he will have a year with Flacco as his mentor(thats not a bad thing!). B) He NEEDS to sit a year anyway. You have 10 additional picks THIS draft to start building a team around him. next year you have 3 round  1's where you can virtually get him ANY top thing we need. As far as planning ahead, this would be ideal

So now you'd have Lance,Hurts and Flacco. Lance has the potential to be excellent, but he's not ready yet. If he is next year you have a boatload of 1 picks for WR's or whatever else we need. Flacco can stay as his BU(or Hurts) or we can turn Flacco loose or trade hurts away

If Lance flops, you still have 3 round 1's to fix that next year. If he looks good, you have 3 round 1's to make him even better(see Tua in miami-same thing they are doing just a year ahead of us) . What would y'all do? If Lance is there at 12, I take him

At this point would not shock me to see Eagles go QB different position or trade lmao

I'm just saying taking Lance NOW gives you all kinds of options later on and really Flacco is the same type QB and he would benefit greatly from learning from him

It’s not oh my QB is gone at but it’s ok got QB4 I can still get if I stay at 6...It’s our guy is gone let’s make a move out now we can’t get our QB sitting at 6

Right... but that us why I think they stay at 6... because " their guy"   might still be there.  Do you for certain at time of trade SF made it known which QB they were taking?

I think if a team really values the QB as their first option... they would have stayed at 6 to see if their guy..  their guy...their guy...  falls.

Their guy.  Because " their guy" could possibly be the 4th QB.  The fact they took the trade back so quickly,  is a good indication of what their priorities were IMO.

IMO... priorities... 1 = trade down. 2 = select QB at 6.... then whatever follows to me all the same.  Worst case scenario they were stuck at 6 with " their guy, their QB " off the board.

Yes I think Philly knows who generally going 1-2 and have an idea who SF is interested in moving to 3 I don’t think it’s some huge mystery between NFL teams

If I took Lance here, then I build up the D this draft, add a few O pieces, since we have the picks to do it, then next year(If Lance pans out) you have 3 round 1 picks you can use them ALL on WR's or whatever else we need. Ertz would be gone so we could take 2 top flight WR's and the best TE in next years draft and since the D was helped THIS year(in theory) you now would have a team to contend with

I feel like this is the "draft Trask in the second" argument all over again, just with a different qb and a different pick.

Trask has nowhere near the skill set lance does

Trey NEEDS to sit a year, that's perfect!!! Any other QB at 12 and you'd have to start him. His potential blows Trask away(and I am FL biased)

So it's a lock now... Lawrence, Wilson and Jones... the draft starts at pick 4 with ATL.   Idk.

I was in on taking QB at 6, never thought they would trade up.  We don't even know if Carolina tried to get involved either.   But at no time did I think the Eagles would give up the necessary assets to move up.

A lot of misinformation gets released and right now, if teams think we would trade up for a QB, certainly we could take one at 12.  I think they would absolutely like to see teams either trade in front or trade with them at 12... and have as many QBs go early.

If they really inquired hard about pick #3, I don't think it gets out at all.  No advantage for the Eagles in leaking that except to try to get teams to move up in front to take QBs.  And I do think whatever was leaked and then taken back... came from the Eagles.

Thats covers everything Stine HAHA(read it again lol)

OK, so I want to throw this out there:

Knowing Howie and Lurie like we do, what is your worst nightmare for the pick at #12? Chances are one of us will nail this. Here is mine:

Howie and Lurie have all 3 CB's ranked close on the board. Surtain, Horn and Farley. So 2 of them go before the Eagles pick. No one wants to trade down so the Eagles draft Farley at 12!  then you hear from the Eagles that he was on their radar all along. They felt he was the best CB on the board and were fortunate to get him. PS comes around and he goes on IR.....

Terrance Marshall lol not going to say he won’t be a good player but at 12 seems like a reach
