Barnett?

"Howie, Howie" WAKE UP" :chair:

I guess I will crank up my private fantasy league again this year. LMK if anyone is interested. I cancelled it and got a refund last year due to the covid BS. Custom scoring, no rookies, tough league to win. 17 rounds, live draft on CBS. if you want in send me your email addy on messages. It's a fun league. Playoffs start a week earlier than normal leagues, so 8 teams get in rather than 4. I pay for the league(150 bucks) and send out a cheap plastic trophy to the winner. Scoring is much more realistic than the "standard" leagues

Let’s watch how these young WR flourish now. I don’t think Goedert will have problems getting his either.

Absolutely flourish and Quez will be unleashed.   Meanwhile,  the struggles in Indy, dark days ahead there.

GB - you're an OSU fan, anything about Shaun Wade?

1) We can get a 'decent" WR later sure, but do you want a difference maker or just a guy who is a little better that what we already have? Makes no difference which mock I like better, so that is a pointless exercise. All I said was,you have to be careful moving back into a zone where your picks are "average" compared to a player who could have star power. it happens every draft,in different places. And sure you can get nice players, solid players, but as you continue trading back, you remove yourself from those Pro bowl possibilities based on % of success. Like I said why not just trade out of round 1 altogether? At pick 32, you will get a nice player, but he won't have the impact a top 5 guy should

Should is a key word.   It's not definite,  and it certainly is a matter of opinion... it's why great players fall and bums climb their way up the board.

We got lucky, thats my opinion. It's not like we started a dynasty lol. And I have no clue what would have happened if we had Foles all year, with maybe a better supporting cast because we didnt trade up

You would have has Bradford or another starter, Foles was brought on as a backup.  But the point is, the other guys contributed,  not just the first pick.

Solid nickel corner. IDK that I trust him in outside coverage

Yeah, like Vegas, you play the percentages and take your shots. it's just as you fall back from 1,those percentages drop and you'd better be a whiz at identifying talent, which we seem to have issues with

Yeah, just reading about him, strictly slot

So,Joe,how far do you want to move back? 15? 30? out of round 1?

I would prefer New England to compete with Washington in a trade for pick 12.   New England winning and having to give us pick 46 for us to drop 3 spots.

But because I think the Eagles want to go DL.  And they would end up picking the guy at 12 that would be there at 15 and maybe even a few picks later.

I think that works best at this time. Trading down toward the end of the 1st, what would we get?  The 2nd round pick would be around 60?  Or do they throw in 60 plus a 2nd next year?   If it's out of the 1st round then a 2022 1st rounder needs to be included.   I don't know if I see any other teams making these types of moves.

It's why I look at 15 New England or 19 Washington... that's enough of a drop and enough value in return.

While you look at pick 12 as being so much better,  I look at having the extra pick at 46 or 51 as being more valuable.   I want more solid prospects at this point.

I also dont want a blockbuster QB trade next year either.   If we get 3 first rounders.   Keep the highest one, trade one of the others for that disgruntled 25 year old... Jalen Ramsey, Micah Fitzpatrick...etc.  Trade down with the 3rd one to gather more assets.

Now you set yourself up with a little bit of a younger core,  to have more specific targets in FA and draft for 2023.  Easier to catch up to the other teams in the division which I think are done being pathetic.

Kelvin Joseph is growing on me. basically the last CB thats really worth much. There is a big drop off after that. If we want a CB we need to get him by/with pick 70.He played for LSU,then transferred and had to sit out,but came on big for KY. IMO he is the last of the "decent tier" that has starting capability

Lane had ankle surgery in Dec, says he should be cleared in a month

yeah there are a few Edges there at 15. Any CB at that spot would be a reach. If we move back I suspect Horn will go to the Chargers,so once again if we are serious about a CB we would take ourselves out of contention for the last top guy unless you want to risk your first pick on Farley

On the OSU front alot of really good linemen in this draft. Next year,if we dont go QB,I already have Olave tapped at WR lol

OK I will try a serious mock from 15 and see what it looks like. I will post it later. If Edge is our targeted player then easy to see the move back. We need so many holes filled,it's difficult to know the direction they want to go in,but I will give it a shot. We kind of shored up at S(for this year),so it seems to me they would add a capable CB to this group that could start or contribute day 1. WR and weaponry for the offense is still an issue. A year of experience for PS WR's isn't going to cut it for me

We can't count on him anymore though

. Should be a nice choice of edge rushers at 15,but is that our biggest need?

Oh I think you could easily make the case that we could be losing Brandon Graham away from being pretty bad at DE.   But I think you could make the better case of looking back at Eagles draft history over the last 25 years and predict its where they go ... simply because they have passed up better prospects before to take the pass rusher.  Graham being the prime example himself.  We had a huge need at S.  The future all pro was there... we traded up for Graham.

The Eagles are positioned right there again, only difference is they could pick this guy at 12 or do it after trading back a little.   It seems like there is a decent group of CBs that could be there at 37.  We also know Howie will trade more than one of those round 5 to 7 picks at some point.   It adds up to the CB being the choice with the 2nd pick.

How often have we seen ...  1st round lineman.  2nd round DB.    If any team has become predictable in the draft,  it should be the Eagles by now.

The DL pick also fits in getting the most people angry.  I can see it annoying the WR people, the CB people and also the Parsons people... all in one move.

It's like clockwork.   Except without "snowleopard" and his annual appearance to complain on draft night.

After a bit of effort, here's what I came up with at 15. LMK your thoughts    1-15 Paye-Edge-Michigan   2-37-Bolton-LB-Miss    3-46-Tyson Campbell-CB-Georgia(I think he has a higher upside than Stokes who is also available around here)  3-70 Tylan Wallace-WR -Okla st  3-84-Tommy Togai-DL-OSU 4-123 Kendrick Green-IOL- Illinois  5-143-Khalil Herbert-RB-VT  6-188- Kenny Yeboah-TE-Miss  6-223- Jamie Newman-QB-Wake  6-224- Trevon Grimes-WR-FL   7-233- Mustafa Johnson-DL-Colorado   2-238-Josh Ball-OT-Marshall(and yeah I would be fine with this) One could easily swtich CB to 2 and LB to 3,it's just my choice of how I did it

BTW here is Herbert. Played for Kansas, did little, transferred to VT and exploded. IDK what else you can ask from a RB, although I can't say what his blocking skills are. I like this kid or Patterson for us. Kind of surprised he is this far down the rankings. Put him in midnight green!!!
