Britt may get drafted, so I would take him instead of Grimes in the sixth. Maybe another corner late as there are some intriguing names out there, but it seems like this is a pretty solid draft. One note is that the Giants apparently want Smith, so we probably won't get him.

I still like that kid Wiggins somewhere too

I like Farley. He has a massive ceiling. Potential to become the best corner. You listen to him talk....and you don’t just think is he the best in the class....will he become the best league wide?

He could ... if his back holds up first.

He has back issues. So where do you take the chance? 2nd round? 3rd? I would never take a chance in the first on a player that may not be playing in 3 years due to back issues. Yes, he is a great player, but you need to make sure you did your research on him.

16 days and we will know what Howie does. What worries me is he has his own draft board in his office.... Did you know that Dallas pays their scouting teams the 3rd most money in the NFL? Jerry Jone's son actually listens to them. That worries me. We have an owner who never listens to his scouts. If you were a scout, where would you like to work?

He has also had an ACL surgery to go with the back issue. This dude is injury prone. So it is almost a certainty HR drafts him...

12. Minor clean out that has been cleared

No way would I draft him at 12! ACL his freshman year at college. Back surgery last year. You want to draft him at 12? Wow!

I think the disc clean up was the reason we could move back. Before that knowledge several had him as the top corner in the class.

He was being talked about at six

Sidney Jones was supposed to be the best CB in 2017. Look how that turned out for us. A bad back never goes away my friend. I could care less how small that surgery was. There will be more. Big question is - When will he need it? Plus you are completely ignoring his ACL surgery a few years back as if that is no concern...?

Just read up on Farley's back surgery. Here is what I got out of it:

Recovery from lumbar discectomy in elite athletes has been reported to range from 2.8 to 8.7 months with an average career length of 2.6 to 4.8 years [63].

So he will play for a average 3.7 years. But we are on the hook for 4-5 years for a #1 draft pick.....

An interesting mock draft.

Sikkema's 2021 NFL Mock Draft 5.0 | The Draft Network

He has us taking Horn at 12, which seems reasonable with Atlanta taking Pitts and Carolina taking Slater. I would switch the Chargers and Giants picks, but other than that the first 13 picks make sense. The Redskins trading up for Jones at 14 makes sense as well. The 49ers drafting Jones at 3 could really throw the first round into a jumbled mess.

He also has a bunch of corners (Newsome, Samuel Jr., Stokes) going in the first and us trading back into the first for Bateman. I wouldn't trade up in this scenario because Toney, Moore and Marshall are still available, as is Bolton, Levi, Barmore, and one of those guys would be available at 37, so spending the draft capital wouldn't make sense.

LOL yeah, all the mocks I post hinge on what we do at 12 and this year there is no surefire consensus(last year we knew it was a WR etc). Howie has this team is such a sad state there are no bad picks at  12,but Howie will find one

Trades all seem to be legit possibilities too. He did a nice analysis/explanation. Love the move up for Bateman, but without losing a pick. Still alot of nice players into round 5.

IDK though Waddle at 12 and, DL at 37 and Joeseph at 70 seems possible too(my mock). Suppose it depends on how much better you feel Waddle is that Bateman(if at all). If you feel the difference is slight, then yeah go with Horn and the move up

So if I had to guess at this point.... I would say the DE from Michigan and then a CB with the 2nd pick.

That "minor cleanout" was part of his original workout injury on the next disc up, explained it a ways back. Not a doc but injured the same discs and was a med student so know enough about it to be dangerous. In my case the vertebrae were also broken so had a fusion - plates and screws. His original op was on L4-L5 and my understanding was pretty significant. L5-S1 he decided to see if the bulged disc would subside - it didn't so they removed it. Both result in less disc material. Until my fusion if I simply bent the wrong way it could go out on me. Again not a doc, haven't seen the MRI's, but I'd stay away unless an independent group of docs ok'd it. Even then I'd be wary.

Edelman's too banged up, won't be back. If he did it would be on a very limited snap count.

Did some research. If we moved up for a WR, I would much prefer Toney over Bateman. Personal preference (and the FL connection on our staff). According to the consensus board he is right behind Bateman, but I believe Toney's attributes fit us better and it could mean giving up a tiny bit less to make that move If Toney falls to 30. Waddle to me is the end of the top tier, so if it's me I take Waddle at 12, if not I go Horn and plan for the move up for Toney. Although Toney is not Pitts,he was used in many of the same ways. He needs some route polish, but he is a solid WR and rather tricky to cover and tackle without being elite fast and he is GREAT in space. Most scouting reports label him as "twitchy"

https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Reaction-Florida-Pro-Day-Kadarius-Toney-Kyle-Pitts-2021-NFL-Draft-163414465/#163414465_7  I would move for Toney if it was my option. Reminds me a bit of the guy we gave up last year in JJ since it seems that he similarly can score from anywhere on the field. Not as good as JJ, but he's a nice "consolation" prize. Needs pro polished, but he can play

Look no further than Sidney Jones. Hopefully that was a lesson learned. And that wasn't even related to the spinal process which is even touchier.

Sorry man! LOL already commented till I got to your next post.

Ok try this (first 6 only) Horn-CB  Onwzurike-DL  Wallace-WR   Turner-edge   Rice-MLB   Green-IOL

PFF mock has us taking Bateman at 12, that is WAY too high. Their cred just went down some points with me. Of course with Howie in charge, this could happen(sheesh)
