Seems Hurts big bash was he was a 1 read and run QB. That's not gonna cut it at the NFL level. His accuracy falls(it seems) when he has to make a second read and a decision, and once again that's not gonna cut it. So we will see if Hurts has the tools to even make it in the NFL

I believe if we actually block someone the one read and run theory goes out the window. Last season that was a necessity.

Why? He did wherever he was> Like I said perhaps he can learn it if we give him the time(which we rarely did last year, but he still did it in college also)

Did another mock. After many more hours of research,I went at this one with the BPA approach, since in essence every position now is a "NEED". Now you can look at this and say "oh he wont be there",but keep in mind we have the tools to move up or down a little to make these draftees happen. I put CB back burner if there was a choice to be made because historically we don't value drafting them and tend to hit FA due to our ineptness drafting that position. These are all "football players",guys who will bust for you and I tried to find WR's and RB's that had blocking capability. The 2 pick as you may see could require a move back up from 37 to??? IDK maybe 29,30 and yes I am going to find Kelce's replacement here too. I will post this mock in a few mins. No "fancy well known names(hyped????)" which seems the way Howie likes it lol. The "no name" players we talk about

Maybe that was how he was coached up in college?  Maybe that was what was asked of him.  Who knows.  He is about to get a much higher level of coaching now ... we'll find out soon enough if he can execute what he is asked.  If not, then we're pretty set for either being able to make a run toward a top QB in next year's draft or trading for a proven vet.

I do like the idea of adding as many pieces around "the QB position" (say it that way meaning not necessarily Hurts ... whoever is in that spot for the next 5+ years) in this year's draft.  Should Hurts fall flat, that QB we bring in next year has a much better chance at succeeding coming into a situation with a good supporting cast around him.

OK this is the most "off the wall" mock I have done, but if you want good players without the hype here I go................. I actually hope we can move back some from 12 and use that leverage to trade with the same team to move up in round 2 (or late 1)). Here goes 1-12(or the later trade back position)-Barmore-DT-Bama    2-37-Zaven Collins-LB-Tulsa(again we can use the trade back to move up for him)  3-70-Quinn Meinerz-C-Wisconsin-whitewater  3-84- Payton Turner-Edge-Houston   4-123- Kahlil Herbert-RB-VT   5-143-Cornell Powell-WR-Clemson(very good blocking skills which we need)   6-188-Yeboah-TE-Miss   6-223-Keith Taylor-CB-Washington(underrated IMO)   6-224- Tre Norwood-S-Okla   7-233-Feleipe Franks-QB-Ark  7-238- Josh Ball-OT- Marshall. This mock is "unexciting" but these are all good solid football players who will bust for you

everyone SEEMS to think Siri is the answer, when in fact he has never been in this position. Higher level of coaching? Keep in mind that no other team even talked about Siri for a HC position. I am like everyone in that I hope he succeeds, but have this feeling that he is Lurie's man and will do what Lurie wants. So, will we really see more running the rock? Highly unlikely.

IDK how much more LESS we could run this year lol. Ped gave the run up early and often

BTW besides Powell's blocking skills, he is no slouch as an offensive weapon either

If Wyatt Davis(OSU) fell to 70,I would select him over Meinerz, but I am not counting on that

Well, from what I have read, not running the ball came from upstairs. This was not what Doug wanted....

Yeah,I hope that's not true cause if we don't run the ball we're not going anywhere. If that was the case,we wouldn't have bothered signing Howard again

There was another option I had doing this one(whatever your preference is) . Could take Jalen Phillips-edge-Miami in round 1,then take Togai at DT(OSU) at 84. I would opt for this one if there were no trade back partners

Howie is #21? Too high IMO..

Never mind. I stopped reading too soon. 9 GM's were not graded, so finishing 3rd from the bottom is about right for Howie....

Yeah usually though we only have like 5,6 picks, this is like a double draft for us, but as stated, the margin for error is slim

"The fate of Dallas boils down to defense, though, where new coordinator Dan Quinn is being asked to do what Mike Nolan couldn't: Produce a unit operating as something other than a wide-open prairie land for enemies to glide across".   Lmao, not that we are any better

Only difference is that Dallas actually drafts well. Jerry Jone's son uses his scouts and pays them well. I expect them to grab a CB, LB, S, and EDGE this draft.

TE also. There are a few worthy ones besides Pitts. They have their hearts set on Surtain

I was referring to the offensive coaching staff collectively (HC, OC, QB coach, etc) when I made the higher level of coaching comment.

I mean most the coaches hired weren’t in HC positions before... Hell the Chiefs OC that everyone wanted was the same as Siri an OC without play calling.

We have seemed to have given Siri already bit more power then we ever gave Doug which is at least a decent sign to start.  Siri staff was his picked guys not FO forcing them on him

That is a bad way to draft also. You draft the best players and scheme around their strengths. Patriots do this all the time. To narrow your board because a player does not fit our scheme will set your team up to fail IMO.... Just look at Swartz. He made the players play his scheme even though they obviously were better suited to another. One reason we could never get good CB play. Yet these Safeties and CB's move to another team and are successful....

There is a balance there. You want to put guys in a position to succeed. But you have to do what’s best for the whole defense. Can’t cater every position every play.

It will work backwards from here we all know.

Yes, the point being "Everyone wanted him" No one was looking at Siri was my point......

Andy,Doug, Siri seems to be a bit of a trend with the Eagles has worked fairly well overall. The one big name hire I remember was Chipper and we seen how that worked.

Like any coach it’s just the waiting game to see how they do
