I mean most the coaches hired weren’t in HC positions before... Hell the Chiefs OC that everyone wanted was the same as Siri an OC without play calling.

We have seemed to have given Siri already bit more power then we ever gave Doug which is at least a decent sign to start.  Siri staff was his picked guys not FO forcing them on him

Will be interesting to see as coaches leave for one reason or another and it comes time to backfilling those spots OR if the team doesn't start out playing to the expectations of Lurie if that will change and will become a situation more like Doug had to deal with (e.g. Lurie wanting to fire Reich after the '16 season but Doug fought to keep him on, Doug wanting to retain Walch and Groh but Lurie threw the trump card on that, etc.).

Like this kid alot as a UDFA pick up. Raw skills, needs a little added weight, strength and conditioning and taught a better route tree. Plenty of time to get him going

SOOOOOO, the "assumption" is we will take Smith at 12. I know the fans would be miffed if we didn't ,especially after taking ourselves out of the Pitts lottery. But IDK if I would take Smith over Horn.. I am having a difficult time juggling the first 3,because actually we need 4 guys in 3 picks (CB,LB, WR, DL). With the possibility of 3 round 1 picks next year, I am wondering if Howie doesn't spend one of them on THIS draft. Still gives us ammo next year to move up for a QB if we wanted to. 2 round 1's in THIS draft would be ginormous

This was an interesting discussion about draft positions, and the first 30 minutes focused on wr.

PFF NFL Podcast: 2021 NFL Draft Position Rankings | PFF - YouTube

The hosts made a few good points.

1. A lot of the top wrs prospects - Smith, Waddle, Elijah Moore, Rondale Moore, Bateman, Toney - have concerns that they may not be big enough or may be limited only to the slot. They said Bateman at 6'2" is a first round prospect, but may drop because at just 6 foot, he may not make as many contested catches as he did in college.

2. Because of this, after Chase, the wrs may slip back in the draft. They said that teams may prefer to take OTs, since it is much more of a binary position (you can either play or you can't, unlike wr where you can become a gadget guy/special teamer if you aren't starter quality) and the gap between top guys and the ones you draft in later rounds is much greater for OT than WR. This jibes with what I think, namely that teams ahead of us (Dolphins, Panthers, Giants, Lions) will be more likely to get oline help than draft a skill position player. I think this is what the Eagles thought when they traded back.

3. They love Palmer of Tennessee and Devonta Smith, and are down on Waddle. The argument was that Waddle can't do everything Smith does, but Smith can do everything Waddle does. It's a good point, but personally I would be fine with Waddle at 12 if he is there as he fits with what the offense wants to do, which is create a passing attack that can be both vertical and horizontal, and Reagor, Watkins and Waddle would be great for that. To defend us, teams would have to use smaller, faster players, which would be ideal as we essentially have two big running backs when Sanders/Hurts are in the backfield.

In reality, Ward, JJAW and Fulgham running crossing routes isn't scary for a defense because they aren't guys who can take it to the house, and Hightower shies away from contact too much to work the middle. But Reagor, Watkins and Waddle would be a completely different beast. I also like Rondale Moore in that role if we don't get Waddle.

Chase:  6’1” 200 lbs

Bateman: 6’1” 210 lbs

Not sure how size can be used against Bateman when he is as tall and (according to this site) 10 lbs heavier.  But I’d love to have him fall into our laps at 37 (after taking Horn or Surtain at 12).

Bateman's official measurement was 6', 190.

PFF Draft on Twitter: "Rashod Bateman’s Pro Day measurements, per @TomPelissero: 🏈 Height: 6' 0 3/8" 🏈 Weight: 190 🏈 Hand: 9 1/2" 🏈 Wingspan: 76 1/2" https://t.co/M2WuIQVyIx" / Twitter

Chase also had a much higher vertical and much longer broad jump.

I think Bateman would be fine at 37, but I wouldn't trade up for him and I would rather see them take Toney, Rondale Moore or Elijah Moore, since those guys are better fits for what they apparently want to do. To me, it goes back to just drafting the best guy versus drafting someone who fits what you want to do on offense.

On a side note, Fulgham is a legit 6'2", 210, and had the same broad jump and vertical leap as Bateman did. His 40 time was slower, but 40 times this year are all BS. So to me, Bateman is a riskier proposition than just seeing what they have in Fulgham.

Finally back on my own laptop, woo hoo! Guys at the store couldn't believe how fast it is - I built it! Not used to the 17" screen

You guys have been beating the dead horse for a long time. Anyone who doesn't have their board set by now is screwed up - oh yeah - that's us!

Good stuff as usual.  Not really much different in height (6’ 3/8” vs 6’1”) but 20 lbs is pretty significant.  Regarding Fulgham, there were whispers he has a bit of a lazy work ethic.  They were talking about it again on The Fanatic today.

Which board .... the one the scouts set or the one our fantasy football playing lawyer of a GM sets?

I'm not too high on Fulgham. I like Quez a lot more especially if we are going to focus on speed. Here is him running routes from all three wr positions against Arizona.

Quez Watkins vs Cardinals 2020 - YouTube

I also watched him against Washington, and he had a couple of moments from the X where he got wide open but Hurts didn't find him. He also should have had an easy TD that Hurts threw poorly.

I think a wr group of Quez, Reagor and Smith/Waddle would be a great cast. Watching our offense last year, it was just slow and plodding. Having Fulgham, Ertz, Goedert and Ward on the field limits what you can do. To me, Quez showed something in the last few weeks of the season. His route running was really good, he made catches in traffic and he showed he could beat press coverage and get clean releases from the X.

I would let Fulgham and JJAW battle for the "big receiver" spot, keep Hightower as the deep threat and roll with Quez, Reagor and whatever Bama receiver falls to us.

There is a balance there. You want to put guys in a position to succeed. But you have to do what’s best for the whole defense. Can’t cater every position every play.

That's where I feel T-E-A-M comes into play.

Bateman is one of my favorite WR in this draft he is far better then Fulgham more polished route runner and superior hands.

Lol got reports out of saying we are looking to trade back into the top 10.  One report that I read is that it would be for Waddle most likely. Can’t say I’d be a fan of that move but just something else to think about

Trading back up for Waddle would be dumb (which unfortunately seems like something Howie would do)

You might be right there. Howie seems to overthink an awful lot.

Rumors, innuendo, deception, smoke, mirrors we have it all at the fun house 🤣. I fear the only dead horse could be us after they start folding up the tents(OK 2 kickers, those were good picks!!!)

Welp he's a Philadelphia lawyer,so there's that😂

I like this one, think I will stay with it  1-12-Horn-CB   2-37-Onwuzurike-DL-Washington   3-70 Baron Browning-LB-OSU 3-84-Payton Turner-Edge- Houston  4-123-Kahlil Herbert-RB-VT  5-143-Cornell Powell-WR-Clemson  6-188- Trey Hill-OC- Georgia  6-233-Matt Bushman-TE-BYU   6-224-Darrick Forrest-S-Cincy  7-233- Cole van Lanen-OT- Wisconsin  7-238-Mustafa Johnson-DL-Colorado (I wanted Elijah Moore-WR at 37,but figured Howie would go D line here)                 This mock is about as boring as it gets, but really, these are the first set of guys we need in here. Since we are loaded up next year a QB and plucking a round 1 WR should be no issue. We will have either 3 1's and a 2 or 2 '1's and 2'2's,so for me this draft was more about solidifying other positions, getting them a year playing together before we invest in a top QB and a top WR. For me,this mock is about getting all the cake ingredients, and slow baking it all season. next year you can add the icing. Powell is a good and willing blocker and he is no slouch as an offensive weapon either/ For me a round 1 WR could basically be a year lost(see Reagor).; I would rather have my team in a position to make next years WR pick successful on day 1

UDFA-Damonte Coxie-WR- Memphis,   Feliepe Franks-QB-Arkansas,  Trey Norwood-S-Oklahoma  Josh Ball-OT-Marshall

Heard we could move back up for Bateman. I would not

I'm anxious to see if the new D staff can develop players and use them where they are supposed to use them. That would be REFRESHING!!!!

Agreed! I mean look I think there is reason to be excited about Gannon. The Eagles weren't the only team interested in bringing him in.

Move up from 12?  It is as close to a 100% certainty he’ll be there at 12 as you can get.  Heck I’d think we could trade back a few spots and still get him.
