I do organization likely have promises they didn’t keep... Oh Wentz we are going to surround you with talent it won’t be 2019 again.

Then you resign injury prone Djax, Alshon already wanted out, piss off Ertz... Pass on the more NFL ready WR Jefferson oh and then draft a backup in round 2.

DJax was signed in 2019 and they did add 3 receivers in last year’s draft.  But yeah I get it the talent acquisition (in particular through the draft) has been completely mismanaged.

So here's "the thing". We invest alot in the WR position to come up empty. With few exceptions even the FA's we bring in aren't really all that helpful. Our draft picks never seem to go anywhere while they are here. SO for me, I want PROOF this new staff can develop guys before I continue pouring assets into a position we get little return from because historically,we suck at developing WR's and we can't seem to scheme for the FA's we bring in(even when they are healthy, they are "average" at best). I suppose Smith or Waddle will be the pick, but really, I hope they WAKE UP and get the WR's we ALREADY drafted to perform before adding any more top flight guys. Reagor needs to show me why he was a 1 pick, Never was a Jjaw fan, but it's now or never for him as far as I am concerned or we totally blew that pick(which I think is the case there) Fulgham could pan out,Ward seems to be a solid but not exciting BU. Hightower has shown some signs of promise(when he plays) Quez is ok as a gadget guy and ST'er. There are 2 views here. 1)Take the better WR at 12 because we have 5 years to develop him 2) AVOID the better WR because we haven't developed one in 5 years and if you can't develop them it's almost like a wasted pick. I am in school 2,but I suppose it depends on how you view this new staff. Maybe I am too cynical, but I need to see progress from the guys I already invested in. We draft young WR's and end up going hunting in FA, so actually that is 2 screw ups because A) you spent draft capital and B)you had to go spend money because your "draft capital" pick sucks rocks. This needs to end right now. I'm adding a WR in round 5,but until I see progress from this staff I'm not spending another dime or another high draft pick on this position. I don't expect the staff to make Hightower into Marvin Harrison, but please show me you can get some stats from these"average" guys. Once you show me that,I will get you the top guys. Reagor was supposedly NOT average as a round 1 pick,so show me you can develop that guy. New staff on D also,so I will give them toys to play with. They have a better excuse to under perform until I get them top guys, which is MY personal plan this year and why my personal mock is 4 D players in a row. I'm sure Howie WONT listen and he will be under pressure to get a WR early. I just hope he doesn't because I would like to see some ROI from what I have already invested at WR

So the new thing is that we are looking at trading back into the top 10 and they are saying Detroit.

Here is my question what was the point of trading back then??? Would the cost of moving up from 12-7 be damn near the same as what we got from Miami when they moved up from 12-6.

My WR goals this year are TWO(yes count them TWO) WR's with more than 500 yards. This is not a ridiculous request considering what we invest in that position,so that is the goal I would set this year on my WR coach/HC/OC since we had ZERO of those last year. Actually I would not even request it,I would DEMAND it. I understand the shuffle at WR, but STILL any mediocre WR can get 500 yards in 1/2 a season. Reagor better do it this year!!!! and either the new draft pick or another guy better step up and do it too and if I'm Lurie, I put that onus on my offensive staff. Time to quit dicking around and get a football team on the field

IDK if you can move back up and give up a 3rd pick NEXT year(or they may even go for a 4th), you really aren't sacrificing THIS draft. That would be my only explanation since we have possibly 3 round 1's next year(I didn't look at the trade chart). There is also the possiblity Ertz comes into play

If I’m Detroit I’m looking at the Eagles-Miami trade as a book mark for this trade... Cost Miami a future 1st to get up 6 spots...  I’m thinking it costing a future first or 2nd this year.

Maybe 12 a 3rd and Ertz could swing it but seems doubtful to me with Detroit already having a younger cheaper Hockenson.

At 7 you'd be staring Lance/Slater/Surtain in the face

I like Hock, but remember this is Goff's team now not Staffords and having 2 TE's would help him adjust having those twin outlets, especially a proven commodity. it appears the Lions are tired of playing .500 ball. Picked up some nice WR's, Ertz would certainly help Goff. I would think any trade up would need to involve Ertz no matter who it was.

We know Carolina is desperate for a QB(say what you want about Darnold lol).if we moved to 7 and gave up a pick next year with Ertz, we could still trade back to 8 with them(Carolina) and pick up another pick in THIS draft. This is quite the "chess match" draft this year. We snag another pick, Carolina gets Lance and we still get our guy at 8

Goff played in a system that ran mostly 3 WRs and Hockenson was better then Ertz last year and far cheaper. Can’t really see Detroit being that interested in Ertz and mainly his contract

Don’t see Carolina in the QB market they gave up a decent amount for Darnold... what a 3rd and a future pick 1st

Hock had a QB lol. Just tossing ideas around as to why we would make this move

I know why we would make the deal would be great for us im trying to look at it from the Detroit side though doesn’t make to much sense for them

Taking Lance costs nothing. By all accounts he isn't ready to go anyway and if Darnold is a bust, they have an option now.Otherwise if he busts they will be right back here next year in maybe a worse position than they are now because as you said, they already gave up next year's 1

yeah IDK where this latest rumor started

But it does it’s a top 10 pick that could go to an OL, CB any other position to help the team. And they already have less capital to help the team going next year.

Im not giving up the picks for Darnold if I don’t think he is my QB. My goal now is to build guys around him and if I’m two years time he isn’t it then go back at it for my QB

IDK where this boost of confidence came from they got. They are desperate, so I thought they made a bad deal I think they will regret. Taking Lance would cover them. They can't afford another 2-3 years of sucking at QB and putting all your eggs in Darnolds basket is not too smart IMO

I wanted Stafford in Carolina lol

Didn’t say I agree with the trade for them but they made the trade. If you don’t have faith in the guy why give up the picks for him is my point.

And could be similar to Hurts for us this year if Darnold sucks they have a first next year could be a high pick and get a QB in next years class

If Darnold sucks for Carolina could then be in a spot to get the Carolina boy next year keep hiM in state... NC would love that

UGH, that's who I want for us next year lol

Bear's picked up Goodwin

I think just as much as it was on player development it was partly offensive scheme related and partly Wentz’s inaccuracy and partly the pass blocking of the OL (since they were changing lineup practically every week).  I don’t know if the injury thing will improve but hopefully we see improvement in the other 3 areas to allow better WR play.

Mmmmmmm that was all last year things though we haven’t been able to bring along WRs for years

Even last year Hightower had to many drops and couldn’t seem to track a deep ball even on perfect throws, Reagor has to many mistakes and took forever to give Watkins a look.
