1400 yards as a rook vs under 400 by Reagor.       This is pathetic, bad QB or not. This is PS WR stats here (in fact they did better)

Whatever the issue was (beyond poor talent evaluation) ... whether bad player development or bad coaching or bad play design/overall scheme, they will all be different this year due to having swept out pretty much the entire former coaching staff.  Not saying they'll be better ... but odds favor they will be.  We shall see.

Those are awful stats across the board at every position lol... QB Wentz and Hurts both played terrible inaccurate, to many turnovers took unnecessary sacks etc.(yes it was both guys I’m not bashing one and then using the team excuse for the other that’s BS rookie or not)... RB was semi bright spot but Sanders didn’t stay on the field had to many drops as a receiver and fumbles. WRs yea don’t need to say anything on them we know how bad they were. OL was a revolving door.

https://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/315493/cb-wr-or-dl-one-look-at-eagles-options-at-no-12-in-2021-nfl-draft   FWIW I also have Horn at 12,but this really could go in any direction

IDK that it could get much worse. At least we avoided the 0-16 party

That's what I'm saying too ... hard to think it could get much worse considering how crappy all of those areas were.  I just want to see the team on an upward trajectory .... something that we haven't seen since 2016 into 2017.  It has been all downhill since 2017.

I'm thinking it's either CB/WR or vice versa. I would go Horn/Marshall if it was me. I am also liking Meinerz at C in round 3. if we are going to rebuild(especially the lines) we're going to need a C for the next decade (I would spend a 6th to move up in round 3 for him). he should be CLOSE to 70, but some have him higher. If Howie goes WR it's to try and offset the Reagor bust from last year(well he's not a bust YET but let's say he wasn't round 1 material) ,which is a terrible way to approach this. Moving up for a WR is the worst mistake we can make, therefore, we will make it. So stock up on that cheap Whiskey and who knows, maybe I will stop over with some crap wine and stale crackers as well 🤣

Seems to me our list is rather short for the amount of picks we have

Even though Toney is undersized and I am kinda leaning toward a different body type looking for someone to play XWR, he would be a pretty solid addition to the WR group (he'd certainly be an upgrade to Ward in the slot - in addition to an XWR I'd also like to see an upgrade at the slot).  He'd be a 2nd rd prospect IMO.  Costello would be a decent QB to groom as a potential successor to Flacco as a backup.  I do like Samuel Jr. (I like others better but would be happy to land him).  Williams seems like someone we could get on day 3 (round 3 or 4) - I hope to address CB before then but would love to double dip this year and take one early and another in round 3/4/5.

A good look at some offensive concepts that we will likely use next year.

How Sirianni's offense can help Reagor and the passing game - YouTube

A few observations.

Watching this video, these routes are things we rarely saw with our team last year. So many times we simply ran vertical routes where we didn't stress the defense horizontally. It was evident in watching film that we often had the four receiving targets in a straight line 15 to 20 yards from the qb when he was looking to release the ball.

In the video, you can see that the Colts used levels and had receivers running laterally toward space. In almost all the plays there was 10 yards of separation between the routes.

To me, this is a great illustration of what it means to scheme someone open as opposed to forcing them to beat their man. So many times last season we ran routes that relied on our receivers being better than their corners. In the above plays, their receivers didn't have to run incredible routes or make difficult catches. The play design helped them beat the coverage.

Things are changing. Many of the top WR's are what we used to call "too small" or too underweight" so why are they the top WR's?

Siri likes crossing routes(I do also) Either a massive TE or super quick WR who can make the quick break to give the QB a window. I think that was intention getting Jjaw, but as of yet I haven't seen the so called "block out" ability which was the explanation for drafting him. So do we go small fast(we have Reagor for that maybe he would be better used in the slot????) Or do we go a BIG heavier guy. it's nice to have both on your team to exploit match up problems. I have zero idea what's going on in Howies single brain cell. So what would you think about Reagor as the slot guy? At this point I will try anything(use him like JJ in/out)

What is consider under sized lol I always felt 5’11-6’2 your the normal WR.... You got the larger guys that are 6’4,6’5.

To me small is like the generous 5’10 guys I’d Djax... Under weight is tough one as well I mean guy like Bama Smith I get I mean 6’1 170 he ways less then Sproles who was "to small” bit was a solid 190 at 5’6

But alot of them only weigh 185-190 and we used to say "oh prone to injury" because of their slight build

At this point I would try Reagor in the slot, Fulgham probably ok as one of the outside guys, then draft another outside type. Reagor is fast and could be used more like JJ(the guy I wanted here),so if we had Fulgham and say Terrance Marshall or Toney out and Reagor in the slot(mostly) maybe that would be effective. We can shift Reagor out at times, but maybe we should try him in the slot with his speed(providing we have a QB who can hit him in stride)

I understand we got Reagor to put outside to pull defenses, but IMO if you watch JJ, thats exactly what he does from the slot-1400 yards worth.

IDK I would like to see 3 WR's that can play every position. We can shift them around depending on who we play to exploit mismatches and/or give opponents secondary different guys they have to cover on any given down. I hate labeling guys "oh he can only play slot" because thats what they did in college. Depending on the college, maybe they had no other options(this is kind of what FL did with Pitts, Toney and Grimes). Not to say we should use that as an exact model, but it could be a guide to get guys open. Will be interesting to see what happens with Smith and Waddle once they are separated, same with Chase and Marshall

I prefer we do not draft anyone under 6 foot or under 190. Just my preference..... I would like a big WR to compliment the smaller ones we have. Most are 5'11-6'1 area....

This is an interesting list of top 50 non qb prospects.

Jeff Cavanaugh on Twitter: "My top 50 prospects (if you need a QB they're 1-5) 1 Kyle Pitts 2 Rashawn Slater 3 Penei Sewell 4 Jaylen Waddle 5 Ja'Marr Chase 6 Jaycee Horn 7 DeVonta Smith 8 Patrick Surtain  9 Alijah Vera-Tucker 10 Greg Newsome 11 Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah 12 Christian Darrisaw 13 Azeez Ojulari" / Twitter

Some thoughts.

1. After the first three receivers, there is only one other (Elijah Moore) between Smith at 7 and Bateman at 34. I am thinking more and more that Bateman, Toney, Rondale Moore and Marshall will fall to the second round.

2. It was smart to trade to 12. Assuming four or five qbs go early, there is a clear drop between Surtain/Smith and Vera-Tucker/Newsome. 12 seems like the likely caboose of the top end talent train.

3. Waddle vs. Smith and Surtain vs. Horn is an interesting debate. Personally I like Smith and Surtain. And I would probably take Smith over Horn at 12.

I think Bateman goes late 1. A team that is adept at developing WR's would love to have him,say NO or GB. I would replace Bateman with Elijah Moore in that round 2 list
