He'll use the old that guy WE thought would be there, wasn't. Had to trade down again deeper into the crap shoot where few get it right. Whew, safe again.

At 6 there are no excuses. At 12 you can find one or two. In the 20's few get real impact, so NOT his fault if they miss. Yeah, safe again.

Maybe but Howie already stated that you only trade down if you have 12 guys rated that highly so can’t use we thought such and such is there... We supposedly have 12 guys we like one has to be available at 12

IDK most teams in the top 10 will board up with top 10. We had one of those guys at 6 lol,so now we need to board up the top 20 because Howie will try for more picks. I dont think we're staying at 12. Rumors are a move up. It would be win if we can "get our guy" say at 9, but it's Howie so logic is off the table. He has ONE guy targeted(sadly) and will move up or back for him instead of taking the best guy on the board

So really, now I am looking at Jalean Phillips after a move back. He would be a typical Howie pick

I like Onwuzurike better than Barmore JMO, but he could go at 37, CB in 3, WR with the other 3

IDK if Smith is there if the"average" fans would forgive him after the blown WR pick last year lol

LMAO

I nominate Howie for GM of First Class Solitaire.

The fan in me hopes that whoever he picks at whatever spot it may be, is an incredibly obvious HOF candidate from day 1, and dominates for 12+ years. The skeptic in me says Howie's history is a good predictor of this years draft performance. I don't trust him to get an impact player, let alone a superstar. We'll see. After all, he was apparently wrong with #2 overall in 2016.

A mock draft from McShay/Kiper.

NFL Draft: Jaylen Waddle falls to the Eagles in ESPN’s 3-round mock (usatoday.com)

The first four picks were Waddle, Bolton, Melifonwu and Cisco. I find this interesting because, while there is no consensus in who we take, there is a lot of consensus in what positions we should take - namely WR and back seven of the defense.

For example, Tankathon's latest updated mock has us taking Parsons, Marshall and Richie Grant. NBC sports had us going Smith, Samuel and Jamar Johnson. Something called Grueling Truth had us taking Horn, Marshall and Werner.

The names are all different, but the positions are the same, meaning that we have some pretty obvious needs on this team to the point that everyone has us taking the same few positions early in the draft.

Welp,we have nice picks NEXT year lmao, so if Hurts blows donkey balls Howie can say "see I got us all set for our next QB" If he balls out Howie can say "See I knew what I was doing" Like Don said Howie covers Howie(which I have said many times also)

Oh absolutely. I've made this point before too. Having 3 first round picks is great... But if they use that to trade for a QB or use it to move up next year to get a QB? Then not so great. Look the QB position is the most important we all know this but this roster needs a rebuild. To do that we need lots of right draft picks.

Out of curiosity………who do y'all think will draft Parsons? Assuming there are no trades; which we all know there will be a few.

My guess is the Giants.

Another mock - this one from Michael Kaye (NJ.com).

https://www.nj.com/eagles/2021/04/nfl-draft-2021-will-patience-pay-off-for-eagles-in-1st-round-7-round-mock-projection.html

He has us taking:

1 (12): DeVonta Smith (WR Alabama)

2 (37): Eric Stokes (CB Georgia)

3 (70): Jabril Cox (LB LSU)

3 (77 ... mock trade - we trade 84 and 189 to move up to 77): Richie Grant (S UCF)

4 (123): Patrick Jones (DE Pitt)

5 (150): Chuba Hubbard (RB Oklahoma St.)

6 (224): Brandon Smith (WR Iowa)

6 (225): Jimmy Morrissey (OC Pitt)

7 (234): Zac Thomas (QB Appalachian St)

7 (240): Avery Williams (CB Boise St)

I'd be thrilled if our draft turned out like this.  Could get nitpicky and want a different RB at 150 or different WR at 224 (Dez Fitzpatrick - Loouisville?), but all in all, solid draft.

Be fine with this one except there is no way I would give up a pick for Grant(and I'm a UCF guy lol). I would stay put and take Nasrilideen(he may be better anyway)

So what if we gave all 3 of our round 1 picks next year to Jax for Lawrence 🤣 (keep the 12 pick this draft also) Would you make this trade?

I like him as well (but I also like Grant).

Yeah but you lose a decent pick,it's not like it's a 7th, besides we took 2 in FA,surely one of those could stick, meaning this position isnt as pressing as others(or course both could fan,but we spent the loot there)

I have Horn/Surtain, Marshall,Surratt so yeah it's beginning to clear up a bit. Joe still could be right and we go D line IDK what advice Howie is getting, but apparently he wont take it anyway. I know we have shown interest in Sills at DT,but that a later round pick. I would be fine with Smith/'Stokes. Smith/Stokes may be a better play than what I have. IDK I have no clue what this new staff wants to do nor what their tendencies are

I am hoping Harris plays well here (and am guessing he should if the defense is similar to what he played in previously considering Gannon coached in Minny and our defense is expected to resemble what they do).  We should be in a better position cap wise to offer him an extension after this season.  Anyway, knock on wood ... I have always liked Harris.  But McLeod is almost surely done after this season, so have to start the process of identifying who his successor is.  Could it be Wallace?  Possibly.  Adams seems more like a STer to me (and backup S).  But who knows.

Dunno if this was posted. Wiehl must have spoken up last yr. Feel it's true as we're not hearing it this yr, in other words JL & HR covering their butts. We'll see in a few days  which board is used. If we don't come out w/ high level CB's the season will be wasted.
