most of the top WR are lightweights if you look

Really???? Dhop, Metcalf, Adams, Julio, Jefferson(last year)??? Even Ridley/ Diggs around 190-200 pounds that to me is the norm for a Wr

Not many top WRs 160

And which position have you seen the Eagles prioritize more over the last 30 years?

Doesn't matter if we can't develop them. Hope this new staff can because it's been DISMAL for awhile

BG.. I want to look back at the draft in 3 years and say the team got a nice core started.   I don't really put much stock in just the first pick, that's how the NBA is done, not the NFL.

But we know our team is predictable.  They have position priorities... they have been burned a couple times drafting for need.   They know they are in rebuild.

I don't watch college. I've seen Pitts play in high-school more than I have all these other guys play combined in college.  It's great to talk about cover 2, cover 3, and all these other things.   But can't ignore the basics and the history of this organization. Nor the ages of certain spots on this roster.

That the goal in every draft lol but first pick comes first lol I’m only worried about day 1 for now when day 2 starts hope for those guys

SMith can go at 185,so you are arguing about 5 freakin pounds lol

Barnett and Sweat both in contract years.

Yes, both could be gone after this year.  If they stay, both will be getting paid.

Then the combined group gets more expensive and a year older.

Contrast to the WR group...they will stay relatively young and inexpensive.  Prime spot to add a vet FA to the mix if a couple young guys don't work out.

Though listening to Siri talk about our WRs makes me think we aren’t taking a guy high. But who knows we shall see in 6 days

One thing we do know.. the Eagles absolutely focus on cap space and how projected salaries come into play.

DeSean was in a gang... ironically he was cut as his salary was about to go through the roof.

Shady was " traded by Chip"  ironically Murray,  Sproles and Matthews had less of a cap hit combined than Shady.

Hurts was drafted,  ironically it was peanuts for a backup QB, similar to what they got with Flacco in how they did his contract.

Wentz is the absolute worst human on the planet, ironically cutting him saves about a million this year and over 20 million next year.

Kelce and Graham, they just love the organization and were easily wooed to stay, yet they both got raises in a way that saved decent cap space for now.

Could a reason that the Eagles like to draft QB and linemen with top half of the first round picks ...be that they feel those spots will be the higher paid positions and want to lock those guys in?    With CB and WR in the next tier and why they have drafted those positions ( 3 WRs and 1 CB) at picks around 20?

Idk, but same ownership for almost 30 years,  maybe a new coaching staff that all of them were in grade school at the time Lurie bought the team... they will persuade change in philosophy and draft strategy?    Idk.  I would wager against it though.

This year we have Alec Halaby, VP of Operations and in charge of Analytics. Best Friend of Lurie Jr. This dude has a say in the draft, unfortunately. So drafting a line position may not be what we see early from now on. Things ARE different now. Just how much Lurie lets them tinker is unknown as yet....

He weighed in at 166 that almost 20 pounds he needs to add

So ..... help me think who is actually on the roster and under contract ( whose names I can put in)  ...and I can say that they are Aaron Donald and Chase Young?

Welp we took 2 S's in FA,so why did we do that if they wanted a "vet" WR?. Maybe they add one post draft IDK

Yes, but that's my goal as a fan of the team who doesn't care about specific college players.   There are some fans already invested in college players that need to be correct in the draft.

He's played at 185,so it's not like he can't add the weight. Maybe he trimmed down to get his 40 time lower(like guys dont do that to enhance their chances?) I'm saying it takes a special WR to beat out QB's for the Heisman

I don't think they want to go vet WR now.  It's my point, they want to see these young guys under new coaching.

Young, inexpensive and... Not very good.

Smith beat out Lawrence for the Heisman and Lawrence goes at 1

Me too,but face it,who we have is lacking in top flight talent. They may get better, but they scare noone

No they listed him at a generous 185 he probably played around 170.... they also listed him as 6’1 when he barely came in over 6ft

Welp he won the Heisman no matter what his weight was

That great this isn’t college any more plenty of college player won the Heisman and failed in the nfl

SOI based on that theory a WR has as good a chance as your lineman. Like I said we need everything, but if we're going for a QB next year(Wilson even) we'd better make this offense at least appear appealing. WIlson would not come here with the WR's we have(maybe he wont with Smith either, but it's more enticing)

OK fine Smith sucks lol. I'll wait until we play him and he kicks our ass like JJ will. Then we will whine cause we have no offense. Winning the Heisman is a good indicator, not a guarantee

Analytics will lead to more linemen.   Just do the analysis....lol.

Until you look at the track record of the Heisman winners in the nfl and see it isn’t that great.

As for if Smith has success good for never said he sucked but the concern for him is real there is a reason he isn’t the top WR in this class

And we have seen the Eagles have this before at WR...still have some success... because their philosophy is build with the lines.  They have always invested picks and money on the lines.  Right now,  they have the money invested, but not the picks. Logic should say the picks are coming.

Some think he still is. Matter of opinion, Lets remember Chase DIDNT Play at all last year
