I think it means you were the best player in college football that year doesn’t mean jack at the nfl level. Things you can do in college doesn’t always translate to the NFL... And trying to use that as a par to say a guy will succeed in the NfL I don’t agree with.

SO why would the Heisman losers be better at translating into the NFL?

Yep your fail list is 100% QB's which we all know miss the premier spot to fail if you're going to fail. Im talking POST manziel,I'm not going back to 1933 ok

Want Desmond Howard fail last Wr to win the award was meh I don’t consider Bush a RB a success story, Ingram was avg. at best.

Your whole reasoning on the award is Henry 1 guy in what 20 years to be top tier Heisman winner that isn’t a QB great track record

See Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock has dullass taking Paye, we get Surtain - I'll take that!

Paye is the one D-Line player I would take at 12....

Fact remains you dont win the Heisman for no reason and Smith beat out this years #1 draft pick. if that doesn't tell you anything,I cannot help you. last WR to win it was??????

Overrated IMO

Tim Brown. He sucked lol

And he ain’t the #1 pick why if the Heisman means that much??? Hell why isn’t he just the 1st WR on everyone’s board he won the Heisman he is behind a guy who didn’t even play

As for Last WR Desmond Howard a guy very similar to Smith who failed at the nfl level

BG Howard was 30 years ago....  Why even bring him up then?

Well, I agree it is a different situation in that we need almost every position. So they should take the best play period, we need almost anyone...

Agree with 99% of this post... I would omit the word " almost" as IMO there is nothing on the roster that has all of...

Youth, talent and being under contract long term.

There is youth with potential though.  To me I would say OL and WR are the spots where I would like to see the young guys play and develop under the new regime.   For me, doubling down on those spots in the draft and missing the chance to invest elsewhere could potentially end up being a mistake.

But with the Eagles, salary cap and position priorities will always be there, analytics will emphasize that more.

OK welp, IDK which way we go. I would be happy with Smith, or Surtain, or Horn at 12. The top lineman will go so IMO if we target a lineman we'd better move back because most in my view are a reach at 12 after the top guys are gone

Simple.   It's a numbers game.  Only 1 Heisman winner can enter a draft... better chance that one of the hundreds of other guys succeeds.   Same way why perception is the Eagles do well with UDFA vs 1st rounders...  just more players.

He is the last WR I view him as more important then go 25 years back and listing every non-QB what’s the extra 5 years then

I'm old!  30 years ago....geez!

LMAO OH because QB's are the most valuable position? Nah can't be it

Never said they were a guarantee. Most times they are QB's and for me it takes a special player to beat those guys for the top spot

Who said he;'s not???? Why wasn't JJ the top WR last year? OH I forgot,it';s those pesky rank lists lol

Not really.... all about stats and we know that media would like it to be a different player each year.

College stats are ridiculous IMO... very unrealistic as compared to the pros.  Nobody is going to average 9 yards per carry.

So 93 let me ask you, would you rather have JJ or Ruggs?

Didn't go so well with Pumphrey.

Wasn'y Pumphrey the NCAA carreer rushing leader when he came out?

Lmao love how you use ranking when it fits your narrative but when it doesn’t you throw the away... And JJ isn’t even an argument toward me because you weren’t the only one that wanted the guy was all for him and even defended the guy numerous times against Ham the only guy I know that was against him calling him a slot WR  only

We tried to turn him into a WR sadly

Smith is small. That is why he is not the 1st WR on everyones board. Not surprising. And Howard was one of the best returners all time. Yes he did not do anything at WR, but to say he was a failure is not fair. The only reason Washington took him was to prevent another team from drafting him. At the time they already were loaded at WR so Howard was not going to play much anyway.... Art Monk, Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders

Ceded Lamb who was my top guy last year and still is.

Khalil Mack.

But check analytics... show me success of the teams who drafted WR in the top 12 vs teams who drafted linemen?

Like I said, Eagles do this to a fault.  They would take Barnett or Dillard over Dion Sanders or Jerry Rice... it's who they are.

It’s completely fair he was the 4th overall pick he was a fail

right, so the "top 3" at most positions is OPINION. So who knows who the "best" guy is? Depends where he goes and who what his team is like. Chase didnt play a down last year, but miraculously he is the 1 pick without playing a snap
