Cool we're drafting a guy to play 2 games a year

Not sure how you judge college prospects. I don’t just go by college production. I try and look at things that translate. A guy generating five sacks in one game against a T that isn’t remotely near being a NFL level talent....doesn’t impress me. Because that’s not what he will face. How you perform against the best straight up is the best test for me. Not sure you can do it much better than Slater did. He played against big time competition in the Big Ten. Chase Young is the best most athletic guy anyone could ever face in college....heck pretty much the pros also. That’s a fantastic bar to check to shut him down. If you can stop Chase Young who is the pass rusher you are worried about him facing? To me....Slater is a high Floor guy. Just don’t see him sucking.

I'm really HOPING(beyond hope) that Howie takes a CB at 12.

But now he's a slot guy-OK got it(and you continue to argue we don't need a slot receiver lol)

You are lost my friend. I keep repeating he is a Z. The outside guy that plays off the line. Even said think DJax. I do believe he can also play the slot... but now I’m just going to keep you confused. Stated at least six times in a row that Reagor is an outside receiver. Either you understand or not...just don’t keep misquoting me and putting the wrong words in my mouth.

He isn’t undersized. 6’4” 305 pounds isn’t undersized for anything. The concern with him is arm length. That’s why some think he might be better inside. Guy became a starter as a Freshman in the Big ten. Dominated the number two overall pick last year. To me....he’s a very safe pick. Dominating Chase Young translates to the next level for me. Because ....he needs to play against...Chase Young.

With a 33" arm Length, he most likely is a generous 6'4". I am guessing if you measure he is closer to 6'3", like some rankings have him listed at. But regardless, he may have crushed at the college level. I doubt he will do so playing Tackle at the pro level. He is probably best suited as a OG IMO. I am by any means no expert. I am just trying to decipher the rankings. Anyway, tomorrow cannot come soon enough my friend...

SO who are you benching/cutting? Or are you making your #1 draft pick ride pine?

Jack of all trades, master of none. I would rather have a specialist(and this is why JJ last year was the pick right here) So if he is an outside receiver why do you keep fighting me about taking a slot receiver? makes no sense to me or are you confused?

It’s the good and the bad. Really been waiting for the draft. But then we’lll probably be unhappy about what happens. Then nothing will happen for a long....long time. Until TC.

I’d think if we go T in the first you have to trade Lane.

Why? He's not that old. I don't think you have to trade Lane. I think it would just signal that they aren't sold on Dillard or Mailata.

oh yeah, I am trying my best to be hopeful that HR realizes his miscues and actually listens to the scouts this year. Maybe not necessarily for round 1 but he needs to for the day 3 players. That is where they are invaluable. I would think anyone with half a brain can not screw up at 12, but we are talking about Howie here........

To whom?

I’m not saying I’d take Slater. But could he be as high as five on Rosie’s Big Board? Absolutely

On the bright side, tomorrow night I can rip out my last hair lol

He turns 31 in a couple days. He has been dealing with his ankle injury the last three seasons. I’d expect Mailata would be moved to RT in this scenario.

You could easily argue Lane is "broken”... been dealing with his ankle injury for three seasons.

SO,I am going to buck the system and maybe PO everyone doing it. I will take my SLOT WR (you know a specialist) at 84 and I will take Amari Rodgers from Clemson. I know it's "too long to wait" and he's "just another slot guy" LOL. But that is my choice at 84. He will do a fine job and not cost a round 1 pick. He also had a a QB who he helped get some nice stats who is going to be the first player off the board

SO who are you trading him to with that issue??? I would be more apt to take an OC(a good one!!). But not until round 3 or beyond.he can sit a year. My round 1 pick better start

They've kicked the can down the road so many times with Lane that he is practically impossible to move right now.  Using a pre June 1 designation would result in $29.4M in dead money against the 2021 cap.  Using a post June 1 designation lowers that to $8.1M but then pushes $20M dead money on to the 2022 cap that has already dwindled significantly due to all of the restructures to free up space to get under the 2021 cap and from having used the post June 1 designations when cutting Malik Jackson and Jeffery.

We got tons of experience along the Oline last season. It was a disaster for last season....but helps towards our future along the Oline. Saw some good and saw some miserable. Toth and Pryor looked terrible. Driscoll, Mailata and Herbig showed good signs. I think you could argue it’s where we have the most young talent on the team.

So,since I want to wait for a WR value pick(Rodgers). Tylan Wallace is a good later pick also, I'm sure Howie will take one earlier trying to cover the fact that he blew last years pick(remember it's always about Howie)

I’m not sure if traded these figures are correct. But he’s going to count 18 mil against the cap this year. With the rolling cap of he instead counted 8 mil against this years cap that gives you ten mil going forward extra. Meaning you’d have ten mil of the twenty coming out of 2022.  He’s supposed to be 14 mil next year on the cap. So you actually created extra cap space next year.

If they do pick Slater, you can be certain it is for OG and not tackle. At least for 2021. Possibly trade Lane after next year hoping he plays 17 games and gets you value. Then possibly move Slater to RT? Maybe he can manage, maybe he cannot. But I am almost certain he can at least play solid Guard at the next level......

Why wouldn’t he play LT in 2021?

HE Would have to beat out Dillard, Vaitai and Driscoll. You really think that will happen? Honestly?

The cap hit comes from the amount of total dead money (not the '21 cap figure).  WIth the restructures they created cap space buy converting salary into bonus (paid out over future years).  His bonus figures are as follows:  '21  $8.1M, '22  $6.9M, '23  $6.9M,  '24   $4.3M,  '25  $2.0M, '26  $1.2M.  That totals $29M.  So if the cap hit is reduced this year (by using a post June 1 designation) to only $8M, the the rest will hit the cap in '22 which is $21M.  Howie really made a mess of the cap and in trying to fix it backed us into a corner with some of these now aging and oft injured players.  He can't be shown the door soon enough.

I’d think if Slater was the pick we’d look like: Slater at LT with Dillard backing up...if we didn’t trade him(which becomes a real possibility). LG we have Seumalo. Kelce in the middle. Brooks at RG. Trade Lane. Move Mailata to RT. I’d argue his best most natural position. With Driscoll backing up the RT. I believe Driscoll to be good at both G spot also. Herbig is good at both G spot and possibly C.

You mean Mailata? Big V long gone buddy 😂 happens to us all
