If we are in line rebuild mode then I would do this(in order) Horn-CB  Davis-OC  Turner-Edge  Togai-DT   My issue is I have no clue what the mindset is

The cap hit comes from the amount of total dead money (not the '21 cap figure).  WIth the restructures they created cap space buy converting salary into bonus (paid out over future years).  His bonus figures are as follows:  '21  $8.1M, '22  $6.9M, '23  $6.9M,  '24   $4.3M,  '25  $2.0M, '26  $1.2M.  That totals $29M.  So if the cap hit is reduced this year (by using a post June 1 designation) to only $8M, the the rest will hit the cap in '22 which is $21M.  Howie really made a mess of the cap and in trying to fix it backed us into a corner with some of these now aging and oft injured players.  He can't be shown the door soon enough.

But you see how if he’s supposed to be 18 mil against the cap this season that if that number went down to 8 then we have ten extra mil to roll forward.

Lane is supposed to cost us 32 mil against the cap the next two seasons. If he only cost 8 this year and 20 next year ....that means we opened up 4 mil.

IMO it's not about who you draft, it's about who you develop, that is on the STAFF not the player (assuming you can locate talent). SO now we have a new developmental staff. What "used to be" is out the window

Right, even more reason to not worry about WR yet....let's see what the new staff, one that specializes in WR specifically,  can do with these guys first.

Trading him using a post June 1 designation does indeed give us $9.7M in cap relief for this year (along with the $8.1M in dead money), you are definitely right there.  I was referring only to dead money against the '22 cap as a result of such a move - that would still be $21M which would suck.

LOL so how do you determine who starts game 1??

Who cares about game 1?   Play them all during the season.   Gotta think bigger picture here.   For some reason you think starting for the 2021 Eagles is some kind of dream job.  It's a prove it thing.   The mailroom job or washing dishes.  It's entry level right now.

Expectations are that Zach Ertz will be traded at some point over the weekend

(11:30 AM ET) I’m told there are six to seven teams in the running, including the Indianapolis Colts. Many tell me it’s a situation where Howie Roseman will try and squeeze as much as possible from a team that wants Ertz considering the weakness of the tight end class. As we previously reported, the Eagles’ initial third-round asking price was too much for teams initially interested.

That’s why I’ve been preaching...clear the cap. It all sucks. But let’s clear the freaking cap so we start fresh. Actually have money to roll forward in 2023 with a quality young core. Then we can make a sustainable run. Golden State Warrior style.

Sure but game 1 is still a game with a W or an L attached to it. SO aren't your game 1 guys normally your starters barring injury???

You probably even oversold it at washing dishes 😂

Win or loss week one of 2021 matters why?

Only  question for me Joe is the talent level they have to work with. You can do well and put lipstick on a pig, but you aren't going to find an elite in this group(not this year but down the road), so for me that's the issue. I'm fine not taking a WR early, unless there is one with elite potential(which I also know is a crapshoot)

So you would stack up on the 1 position the Eagles seem OK at for our #1 pick? Really? OK, maybe we can trade one of them? Why? Just address another position and then we only have 20 left instead of staying at 21???

It's what we think the Eagles will do.   If it's staying at pick 12... I think OL is the second option after DL.    But I'm not sure they trade Lane ASAP.   Mostly because it makes sense to do it instead of overstating the depth and using the cap space.  But I think good chance they justify having the depth there.

This is where DL to me is so obvious.  Get a guy who will play from day 1 in the rotation.  No need to make other roster moves.

But isn't it ironic Lane didn't have his contract redone?   He could be a trade option... even during the season.

It doesn't but usually game 1 are your starters who will start all year.or are you going to keep changing them all out every game?"

WHich young guys so you start/ let play? Last years young guys or this years draftees? I also stated Fulgham was "OK" nothing more lol

Last years young guys because I'm not drafting WR this year.

With 11 picks we will,it's only a question of where for me

Of coarse it matter. I think corner it wouldn’t matter as much...because we have no youth ...or talent. You could see if a guy is a Nickle or outside guy more. Seems like you made the same point with me of....why keep putting all out eggs in the same basket?

Correct... except I'm not drafting WR and not worrying about X, Y, or Z ...until we know we have one.   Let Reagor and all of them play this year... then we can X, Y or Z next year.    It doesn't matter yet to me , because I'm not adding anything yet to WR.     And yes...enough eggs in that WR basket.  Especially the draft basket.   I'm using that free agency money in 2022 or 2023.   Maybe even that pick we get from Miami next year.

Yes, taking Oline is much trickier. But anyone that believes we should just take the BPA has to see it much more likely that we have Oline ahead of Dline in this class. Seems fairly universal that Thrre or four Oline are ranked ahead of any Dline this year. Dline is nice in that we have everything in place to groom a stud. Got the right vets to show him the way. But he doesn’t just get the start. Had to earn it. But along the Dline he has opportunity to rotate in. Had to earn his playing time. Comes in as fourth best and has to work his way up from there. Always the way you’d prefer to do things....

Great order more lipstick to put on those pigs lol. We get burned on defense because other teams draft or acquire elite WR talent. I hope Fulgham is Amari Cooper this year

Going to rotate guys in and let them earn playing time hopefully. Only two places you don’t do that: QB and Oline.

You are lost my friend. I keep repeating he is a Z. The outside guy that plays off the line. Even said think DJax. I do believe he can also play the slot... but now I’m just going to keep you confused. Stated at least six times in a row that Reagor is an outside receiver. Either you understand or not...just don’t keep misquoting me and putting the wrong words in my mouth.

He plays the inside Z.   Lol

But by game 1 you know who is ion the rotation yes??? If not you better figure out your players before the season starts

We are so weirdly agreeing today. Must be one day before the draft. Tomorrow night I’m sure it will be back to normal.

I’d think if Slater was the pick we’d look like: Slater at LT with Dillard backing up...if we didn’t trade him(which becomes a real possibility). LG we have Seumalo. Kelce in the middle. Brooks at RG. Trade Lane. Move Mailata to RT. I’d argue his best most natural position. With Driscoll backing up the RT. I believe Driscoll to be good at both G spot also. Herbig is good at both G spot and possibly C.

You mean Mailata? Big V long gone buddy 😂 happens to us all

Oh my bad.... Mailata is correct. my memory is fading..... sucks getting old!
