The Eagles either unnecessarily gave up pick 84 to Dallas ... or they passed on a potential Bears offer.

Or the Eagles gave up the 3rd to get there guy Smith who the Giants were going to take. Lol I get it you didn’t want the trade up you didn’t want the WR you wanted us to sit or trade back. But you whole logic was Smith was going to be there all signs point to the opposite though.

Right ... so again ... my point.  Either Smith is there at 12 .... or the Bears offer would be sitting there.   If it was the 2nd one ... the Eagles basically gave up pick 20, 84,  5TH ... and next years 1st and 4th for Smith.

Again never said I agreed with the trade up but you whole argument at first was Smith was going to be there at 12 which again doesn’t seem likely.

Would I have rather stayed at 12 or traded back yes but that not what happened the Eagles valued Smith more

Oweh off the board.

This is contingent on the Cowboys not trading back with the Bears, which they might have done if they didn't reach a deal with the Eagles. The Cowboys took the Eagles deal because they felt it was their best option. But that in no way means option two wasn't trading back with the Bears.

You are building an entire argument on a false premise.

No. ... it wasn't my whole argument.... it was that either Smith or the bears trade was going to be there.  Because we know Dallas wasn;t taking smith.   We also think either no way they would pass uo a Bears offer... or maybe they would because they value Parsons so much that they would have passed on the Bears trade ...either way they don't trade with Chicago.  so they take Parsons at 10.  Then Giants make a choice... smith or the picks from the Bears.  if they take Smith.... then we trade with Chicago .. get their picks plus keep pick 84.  It's 5 picks for Smith.

IDK only CB thats not a reach now is Samuel if we want one at 37

Melifonwu as well. Maybe Campbell.

IDk a bit of a reach on those 2. maybe we can move back for one, IDK at this point or take Samuel. If he goes then I assume we would wait until the 70 pick. Joseph maybe at 70. IDK that we take a CB at all right now. At 84 Adebo woud be in play, but we gave that up

They valued Parsons right?    However you look at it.... from Eagles, Dallas , NYG point of view.... they all got their positions... Dallas took a pick from us, NY raped the Bears ... we come out 3rd in this exchange.   Plus I'm not so sure Parsons wouldn't have been the pick for NY?

Smith's nick is The Slim Reaper

Don't understand. We got the Heisman winner, the only WR ever to win the AP player of the yr, who led the SEC 2 yrs in a row, played with our QB and there are complaints cause he cost us the 3rd we got for Wentz? As for his slim build, he played in the SEC and only ever had a hammy and a dislocated finger.

Still, it's the NFL - I'd get him fitted with the Kevlar.

Yes, armor other than NFL standard issue would be nice. When I saw the pick I was hoping he knows how to avoid collisions.

I love this time of the year. The complaints (including myself) from fans. Not in a way to pound sand. All of the different opinions. It shows how diverse we are as a race.

3 scenarios

1.  Dallas takes Parsons at 10,  Giants take Bears offer...... Smith falls to 12

2.  Dallas takes Parsons at 10, Giants take Smith .... Eagles get Bears offer ... which also means keeping pick 84

3.  Dallas takes Bears offer,   Giants take Smith  ... Eagles left out in the dust

Scenario 3 means that Dallas was offered the Bears trade ... but they valued Parsons and 84 more ... but then also would have valued the Bears trade more than just Parson's himself.  IDK, is pick 84 that big of a deal to where you pass up a  nice package including a 1st that could be middle of the pack next year?      Or that big enough to where you would pass on the player you wanted in Parsons?    I have a hard time thinking that.    so to me, its either we gave Dallas pick 84 for no reason, of we invested picks 20, 84, 164 and next years 1st and 4th from Chicago for Smith.

Really since Toney was the pick at 20 .... it's Toney, 84, 164 and next years 1st and 4th for Smith.   We shall see in due time  And perhaps scenario 3 was the one that would have happened.   The big picture of the way I see things is that the Eagles need to compete with their division before worrying about anything else.  Dallas got their guy plus took pick 84 from us.   The Giants made a nice move for their future getting the Bears trade.    did we gain any ground tonight?   IDK, doesn't seem so.

So looking big picture...

The Eagles haven't really drafted for the defense lately.

2018 ... first defensive pick was Maddox in round 4  ... pick 125

2019 ...  first D player     ..... Shareef Miller    round 4   ... pick 138

2020 ... forst D player ... Davion Taylor  ... round 3   ... pick 103

2021 ... starting off offense again, plus giving up pick 84 to do it.

This investment in draft capital means we should be expecting a high scoring offense.  Will be curious to where we see some regression in our defense and if it were to just be the start of it?   I truly believe this is Lurie and Roseman's exact type of team.  We shall see how it works out.

I want the honorable Jim Johnson DC back. R.I.P.    #2 would be Buddy as just DC. I loved those D's!!!!!!!!!  I prefer to see all 3 units perform well. Not just 1 or 2.

Mike Klis on Twitter: "Broncos had trade-back calls from Saints at No. 28 (too far back), Bears at No. 20, Eagles at No. 12 per source. But Patrick Surtain II was the player George Paton had targeted. Paton no doubt has some Mike Zimmer influence when it comes to corners. Can't have enough. #9sports" / Twitter

You couldn't be more wrong. The Bears were calling people to trade up, including the Cowboys. If anything, you should be critical of their front office. Maybe stop crapping on the Eagles for a second to acknowledge they had a good day.

Hated losing a day 2 pick to move up 2 spots too (especially since it goes to Dallas) ... but it seems to be a sellers market.  I wish we had gotten their 4th (115) in return but so long as Smith solves a problem at WR that has plagued us for several years then it is worth it IMO.  Look at it this way ... 2021 pick 6 + 2021 pick 84 = Smith + 2022 1st rd pick.

Now hopefully defense today.  Some really good prospects there - picking 5th we're bound to get one (if Howie is smart) ... JOK (but think he is going to one of first off board today), Campbell, Samuel Jr, Moehrig, Ojulari, Barmore, ...

Those are the guys I’d love to see come aboard at 37

You are worried more about the division not sucking than us improving. I thought you used to preach about how a better division was good and prepared us for wining it all.

Oh wait....you were just ****ing about how bad the division is ten posts ago.

I was not on board with Smith, However, I think the Eagles did a great Job if Smith was who they had on their radar! Everyone is saying it cost them too much to grab him and lose a 3rd rounder to Dallas. I say, last year Howie would have drafted him at 6 and everyone would have been happy once Chase and Pitts were off the board.

  So, let's think about this:

Eagles get the player they wanted, plus a 1st next year, but lose a 3rd round pick.... I think that is awesome! So how many people would be pissed trading a 3rd rounder this year for a 1st next? I read up a little on Parsons and it seems many took him off their board for personal issues? Eagles do not draft LB's in the first round, so they were not about to draft Parsons....

Now, the question is: What CB is available in round 2? IF not a CB, what LB is available?

It appears that Howie is depending on the Scouts for a change, which is refreshing..... I think that was a great job by Howie. Giants are pissed big time and Yes, they would not have traded back if Smith was there. That was who they wanted from the start.

Now, Samuel is still on the board. Would you trade away your 5th round pick to insure you can get him? Arguably the 4th best CB in the draft to go with the 2nd or 3rd best WR in the draft seems like a win win for me.... But they would need to jump up into the jets spot to do it...
