JaCoby Stevens is the pick at the end of round 6. Seems fine to me. Decent athlete. Decent production. He played a hybrid role in college, and we seem to like those guys.

Guessing Stevens will be a LB that is what the Eagles are calling him for what it’s worth

I am seeing some talk that LSU had him add weight to play in a LB role, and he struggled at 225. At his pro day he came in at 212 pounds and put up elite numbers (highest rated safety in the class.)

Kent Lee Platte on Twitter: "Current #RAS leaders at FS: JaCoby Stevens 9.91u James Wiggins 9.69 Darrick Forrest 9.68 Caden Sterns 9.57 Jevon Holland 9.47u Zayne Anderson 8.22 Divine Deablo 8.01 Richie Grant 7.79" / Twitter

Seems like a kid who plays special teams for a year and you see what he can do.

One thing...  the Eagles got younger over the last 3 days.

Literally, when we picked Tarron Jackson, I was pissed because we passed on this kid. And now we have drafted him, which makes me wonder what happened. But here's why I like him.

Lot of the complaints you posted about Jackson apply to Johnson as well guys are pretty close in numbers.

Jackson 6’2 260 25 reps at the bench. 4.7 40 time 29.5 vert 9-10 broad jump

Johnson 6’2 250 23 reps 4.59 40 time 37vert and 9-11broad jump .

Both seem like interesting guys who likely both should be at best 4th DE on the team if both make the squad I’d probably rotate them as to who was active get more as many reps as possible.

Out of curiosity here any chance we think Johnson could be a LB similar to I’d guess we would use Avery??? Seem scouting reports that they seem to think he was better suited for a 3-4.

With the 234th pick in the 2021 #NFLDraft

NFLDraft2021.png
, the Eagles select LB Patrick Johnson.

Eagles site calling Johnson a LB and they are calling Stevens a LB so final two picks go to players we want to covert lol

That clip of Gainwell flattening Micah Parsons is priceless. Hope to see plenty of more of that.

We have signed QB Jamie Newman and WR Trevon Grimes as UDFAs. I like them better than most of our late round picks. We are a Dylan Moses signing away from me grading our UDFA class better than our draft.

Edit - the Jags are signing Moses. Poop. C'mon Yeboah!

I was going to say Moses signed with Jags but you already got it... Like the Newman pickup at QB good developmental guy I think

Wanted Franks, but at least we have QB3 for a camp arm. IDK why Yeboah didnt get drafted-WEIRD

Jack Stoll is a guy I will be rooting for to make the roster as the blocking TE.

The blocking TE is called the backup T

Need that mismatch when putting 2 TEs out there.   The last few years we couldn't run the ball with two TE sets.  Ertz, Perkins, Rodgers... didn't cut it as blockers.  Put a good one with Goedert and it should help with another aspect of the offense.   You should be able to run better in 12 than 13 .

Digging into more on our draft class, a lot of people were really high on Tuipulotu. Here is a write up from the senior bowl.

"As far as names go, USC defensive lineman MARLON TUIPULOTU is the cream of the crop. His explosiveness coming off the line is something that scouts should be raving about. His size and strength are no joke either. He showed another impressive set of reps in one-on-ones and he will continue to look to grow this week. Something that stands out tremendously is Tuipulotu's ability to be violent with his hands. Whether it's a swim move or a chop down, he can do it all. He's a tremendous defensive line prospect that should see his stock rise with a good rest of the week."

Apparently a medical issue pushed him down a few rounds, but he is a solid prospect.

As far as the other picks, we now have two hybrid DE/LBs (Avery and Johnson) and two hybrid LB/S (Stevens, Taylor.) I wonder what the plan ultimately is to use them? Last year Taylor was trained in the box, which didn't go well. Is the plan now to have a hybrid position, which would be much better for him?

Interesting times ahead.

I will say that I like the first six picks a lot. The last three left me underwhelmed or scratching my head, but we will see how they work out.

@cunninghamtheman Is this the clip you were talking about Gainwell pancaking Parsons?

I only mentioned 3 RB's in all my mocks this year. On my early mock I had him as a round 3/4,so this was a really nice steal. The other 2 were Herbert and Jefferson. This was an awesome value pick
