Really?    He was a totally different player in the NFL prior to his injury?

Stop it Joe. There was all kinds of discussion about this. He mentally had issues because he was worried about reinjuring his knee. This happens all the time. That is why you don't draft players that have injuries in the 2nd round... We can go on and on about this all day. I hope Dickerson has a long and great career, but odds are not in his favor....

That still works. I Farley was still available even if they traded..... Would you take him, or someone else? Knowing Farley is the best CB of the draft and sorely needed position.

Not really, I'm not all about getting the CB.   And again, it's different with pick 1 .

You originally said you don't care if he works out... because you think we could have gotten him 3rd round.

You made a point to say it twice with EMPHASIS  at the end of your post.  Now it doesn't matter?

And my points remain

1. When you have a mountain to climb to get back to being a decent team, now is the time to take the chance

2. See me in 3 years.

The difference I will say between these 2 players, and you need to acknowledge.    It seems Jones has gotten back on the field and hasn't proven to be NFL level player.   Dickerson has recovered from multiple injuries... doesn't seem to have effected his play.   The concern is not if he will ever be able to compete at the NFL level, it's more so if he will be available.

In Dickersons case we won't need to wait 3. 1-2 will be enough. If he gets hurt or cannot play this year or next it will prove ouot to be another bust....

And where is it similar to Dickerson who has made it back multiple times from injury to play as the best C in college football?

I know... these first 2 playoff seasons , we can't afford him to miss.  Remind me how Kelce's career started again?

My point is you dont't waste a 2nd round pick on an injury prone player for any reason.... That is my Emphasis..... Whether or not he is around in the 3rd matters not for me. I do feel he would have been there but I still would not care if someone else spent their 2nd round pick on them. Too much of a risk when we need so much.

Seem pretty simple let’s talk about this in 3 years time lol.... I’m going to stand pat and say nobody will be upset with Dickerson if he becomes an all pro by then and if he is an injury flop then we will be pissed we took him.

At this point nothing going to change we took him. I state before got concerns with every pick we took gotta just wait and see how they work out in my eyes

We need everything..  the soreness of the need means nothing to me. Again, it seems a lot of fans have a hard time grasping the concept of being a long way away.   We have kinda been spoiled... reality is going to be a good thing here. We could use a little humility in this fanbase.

Stop deflecting Joe!  I am talking about one issue. Injury prone players in the 2nd round. WTF does Kelce have to do with that Was he drafted in the 2nd round and had history of injuries?

It sure mattered in your original post... do I need to quote it?

Kelce was hurt a couple times early in his career, badly

Cannot say much about this draft. Like all drafts, you need a few years before placing a grade on it. The one pick I think is terrible is Dickerson. Yes, he is pro bowl caliber. But 4 surgeries on his knees? I highly doubt anyone was going to draft him before the late third let alone the second round. If you are going to take a chance, at least trade back and grab another 3rd before doing so. This bleeds HR all over. No one can convince me this was a good move. Even if he does work out I say it was dumb. He could have been drafted early 3rd.

Here is the original post.

1. TWO times mentioning waiting to the 3rd round

It seems to be the main point ot your post.   Did I interpret wrong?

That is how I feel, but I stated after that the main point is we cannot afford to waste a 2nd round pick on an injury prone player. That post was minutes after the original. I was trying to emphasize that if we were going to take a risk on that player, we should have waited for the 3rd round....

Yes he is pro bowl caliber.... so you acknowledge it was a home run swing.  You just think the swing needs to be round 3, not round 2.

This is the biggest issue it seems to you.   To me it really doesn't matter.  Either it's going to be a good pick or not.  The round is irrelevant.   I don't think he would have made it to round 3 like you suggest.  So they took a chance.

I also don't think CB at the moment is going to drastically change anything with this franchise.   The long term needs to be the focus.

The Giants were going to draft him, so it was either in the second or not at all.

This is where you and I disagree.  If Jones was a 3rd round pick 4 years ago... then your theory would be "you have to wait until round 4 to pick this player"

Let it go, do not let Sydney Jones effect your life so much.

Stop trying to read my mind. I repeatedly am saying teams like ours cannot afford to take risks drafting injury prone players in the 2nd round. I am done trying to explain my posts to you...

And I am saying ... it's exactly teams like our...the stinky teams... that need to take home run swings.   Acknowledge we stink and need to take HUGE strides.      So with that said, it makes sense to take the player with the upside.

Again, I am glad you can figure out what I am going to say Joe..... You missed your calling. It is often talked about that teams draft starters in the first 2 rounds. This is because chances of doing so after become increasingly harder. You think Dickerson will play day 1 as a starter. I think he will not finish the season, if he does actually start it before October....

Let's try an exercise... and see if this can put it to rest...

Sydney Jones....

SYDNEY JONES

Sydney JONES

SYDNEY jones

Sid.        knee ....     Joe      ....   nnnnnnnnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Let it out.... we drafted him and proceeded to win a Superbowl 9 months later.     Let it out...  the time has come to move on.   Bigger issues here on this long long ...   very long road to being a contender again.

I'm just going by what you said.    And telling you... he wasn't going to be there round 3.  If they wanted the best C in the draft, they needed to take him.   They did.

I'm gonna speak slowly

The....  Eagles ..   STINK!    SO,   day  one .....  starter .....  means.  ... ZERO, NOTHING,  SQUAT,  ZILCH.

I do not think Kelce will be a backup to anyone.   Dickerson is drafted for long term.   Not 2021.     I do not care if he even dresses in 2021.

Come .....  see .....  me .... in ....  three .... years!

Look at the successful tram recently.  Tell me their last few drafts and how many 2nd round picks have started from day 1.

Well I disagree. So we can stop bantering and move on. You draft to fill holes in round 2 and long term in day 3. My opinion. I have to get back to work.
