This is a pretty good video to watch to show how a defense can cause an offense problems by using a SAM LB and to illustrate how we had some serious issues with our protections last year.

Breaking Down A Version of Patrick Graham's Cover 3 - YouTube

The Giants defense doesn't have many great players, but it does pretty well because they are creative with their schemes. This is pretty basic, the rush LB drops into coverage and the slot corner blitzes. We are in a seven man protection, but somehow manage to let a guy come unblocked, which is on Rodgers, who failed to pick up the outermost man.

I am hoping that we see a lot more of this next year from our defense. That's a defense where I could easily see Avery dropping into coverage and Wallace blitzing from the slot.

One of Schwartz's shortcomings was not using LB's properly. another area of our D that should benefit with the coaching change. Initially hardly blitzed at all, was glad when he started.

FA?

Huh? Guy has been a BUST! High draft pick who has done NOTHING!

Kerryon Johnson that is.

See how we use JaCoby Stevens - used to be WR, then DE, we have him at LB.

Had a 5.4 ypc season, got injured and Lions brought in other players. Supposed to be a good dual threat and a great blocker. Surely the medicals were done on his knee and nothing's guaranteed on his contract. Goog 3rd dn back by all accounts.

https://www.nfl.com/players/kerryon-johnson/stats/  Yeah IDK, seems like an odd move to me. Maybe we use him strictly as a blocker in passing downs(or as a chip and release RB) I don't seem him as the "banger" back. One article said he is the replacement for Sanders(and they pay these morons lol)

Nothing better to me than a well timed safety blitz

May as well try him at CB and G too!!! lol

He is 190 a "whopping" 16 pounds lighter than Kerryon and I'm sure he can add some pro weight, so that is a feeble excuse IMO. Now we have a crowded RB room,we wont cut Howard because we paid him and have a contract. SO which RB do we lose? And remember once we lose them there is no guarantee the guys we signed(Howard and Kerryon) will sign again(back to Sanders and Scott only?) Just seems unnecessary when we could go find a young promising CB or LB. Whatever..................

Why won't we cut Howard?     There are 2 extra bodies in for competition... at a position that desperately needs it.   The opposite of the last 3 years..... and doing the opposite of the last 3 years is bad....WHY?

What?     Where is the Howie photo?    That was the best thing on this board in a while.

OK no guarantees with him either(I thought there was). So, we are bringing in worn out guys to compete instead of developing the young guys?? The opposite of what we wanted? I suppose as long as there are no guarantees we can bring in 5 more. Holyfield? How many snaps has he taken? How about Huntley? The 2 we signed are excuses for not developing the other 2

Why not wait and see what we have? Let the camp battles give us a better idea of who should earn a spot.

Kerryon is only 23 he is the same age as Holyfield only a year older then Gainwell. Don’t think us claiming him mean anything other then competition at RB.

Kempski put up a depth chart the other day, meant to post it;

3-4 of those RB's won't make the 53. Picked them out but realized it's too early to tell. Better to go into camp then choose.

Idk how you come to this logic?    Months of reps , how does one player prevent another from developing?   I thought competition is good?   The last few years , we have seen injuries to RBs and we have suffered because of it.  Having to pass too often.   To claim a dude off waivers to come in and compete, with zero financial commitment...  yet there is a problem?

In game snap counts. Practice is practice. If you want guys to develop they need GAME TIME play
