I'm like that with Manchester United. I used to be a huge fan, now I barely know when they are playing.

My family owns 2 pubs in Scotland. Visiting them is still on my bucket list. I would offend them though because I want my brewski COLD lol BTW also there, is a real Sh!!tcreek, and they DO have a paddle shop(HAHAHAHA-I wanna go!!!)

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/cornerback/available/    Contest- which of these FA's will we take when we figure out we still have no secondary. We should have about a mil left for one. We continually abuse this position in the draft and "fill in the blanks" with FA cuts(this is pathetic). The 4th round rook seems to be "ok" but still that is a drop in the bucket from what we need, and asking him to start out of the gate isn't going to work, and asking the secondary coach to be a magician once again is getting really old. SO pick this years "fill in the blank" CB(you know it's coming lol)

This is pretty spot on. Everybody expected us to run after corners all draft. Just didn’t make sense to force it. Too many holes and things to fix. I absolutely think a corner will be added. No rush. Probably be the main thing looking around the league come cutdown day. At this point I like the idea of going light with Secondary guys. Got a bunch of LBs and Dline to sort through. So I’m looking to go offbalanced here. Don’t want to throw away developmental LB. This team is loaded with them.  Which ones to keep us tricky. But I don’t want to lose THE guy because we tried to be more competitive on a week one loss.

So many ways to look at this. The article you posted clearly stated that most see Gannon using us as a stepping stone. So if that’s the situation then it’s probably best we didn’t just load up on the D and make him look more brilliant. McLeod I do expect to get back. PUP list, which I believe means he misses the first six weeks, seems like worst case scenario. James is the guy the team tabbed to do the job. Finally time to see what he can do. Could be a cool opportunity to run hybrids plenty. That Slot CB/ Extra S/ Third LB spot could be confusing for offenses to read and recognize. Maybe get a combo of Wallace and Stevens working in there. Maybe he even figures out out to unlock LB Taylor’s abilities. I was far from thrilled with him as the pick last year in the third but.....you gotta admit you’re salivating as a DC at his skill set and athleticism. You’d have to be dreaming of that you’ll get the most out of everybody. Whether it actually materializes is a whole other story. But yeah.....maybe not having a starting lineup and everybodies roles so well defined isn’t such a bad thing. A little mystery never hurts. Being predictable in the NFL usually leads to disaster.

Oh so we're going to NOT get players at the needed positions to avoid making a coach look good? If that's the case count me out as a fan

I predict we get burned deep repeatedly(same as it ever was) I would LOVE to predict "noone has the balls to throw deep on us" lol

What the big main plan is with the Secondary is still a mystery. Are they already decided to move beyond Slay and McLeod? Or are they thinking they can get there before those two run out of juice? What Gannon wants out of his corners I’m unclear on. Does he expect them to travel with their man? Something we are very unaccustomed to here. Or does he have specific roles for each side(plus inside)? The idea being McPherson was targeted for a clear specific defined type role in the D. You know that....instead of just best corner on the board. We know how our FO operates. Rosie and Lurie came up with a big picture map. We are just seeing the beginnings of that to unfold.

They are trying to go back to their roots IMO. That is having a dominating pass rush that takes the pressure off the secondary, thus the secondary players can be less that top rate. Although I understand this theory, in my view, a great pass rush is terrific, but we need to get better secondary players as well and stop the late "fill ins". If the pass rush isn't there(for whatever reasons) we get burned deep. Howie provided the depth in the rushing game with the recent draft picks. We got that 4th round CB,he seems like a guy that can play later, but we need more of those guys to develop(and higher rated ones too). Perhaps we get that next draft as we will have alot of control over who we can take. I will wait and see what this new D looks like, what new wrinkles there are, perhaps more stunts at the LOS D line and by the LB's. I would like to see a few more safety blitzes tossed in as well

The Eagles perfected the strategy of not loading up on players to avoid making anyone look good.  Not to worry about that one.

I mean yes....I could make that case of why it could be a bad idea. In our situation. Our DC seems to be respected as an up and comer around the league. I’m just looking at it coming from a 4 win team. Too many holes to fix everything immediately and make a Title run the next season. I really don’t care to go searching for bandaids. We could man certain spots with retread vets that would be better week one of 2021. But that’s not the goal. Need to build a team towards the future. That includes getting experience with young players that can be a part of things for that brighter future day. But it also includes clearing the cap. Build a good solid core AND have cap room to try and finish the puzzle is my philosophy. Then you can plug that final piece or two in the puzzle to make a run. On the opposite side of that position currently.

I mean, they uses that strategy the last few years for their old coach.

Not how I see him playing it. Think he’s going to have two S over the top. Maybe slightly overcompensating to not give up the deep ball. Teams will expose our underbelly like clockwork. Until the D comes together. Gotta mesh that second level of defense. Slants, crossers and such will give us problems. When to trade off your responsibility...that kind of stuff will be targeted.

I personally like Gannon. Think he was the big get. I’m not thrilled with Siri. So yeah...I’m concerned that Gannon gets poached from us. The D was lacking massively. So the task of sabotaging him is easy by not having enough talent and playmakers. But if I’m Rosie talking to Lurie I probably would bring this up as a legit part of the blueprint and map of going forward. Give the offensive side an extra year to get up and running. Maybe see if Gannon can even fill in on his specialty of the Secondary with a player or two that aren’t big money or high draft picks.

If we are successful Gannon will get poach it’s the cycle of the NFL good teams have coach poached. Great teams can replace those coach and stay successful

As for Siri vs Gannon they are the same to me neither have done anything in the NFL if anything Siri has the better resume and has Oc experience and the backing of a successful OC and HC in Reich.

Team wasn’t just one or two players away. Even with our massive draft ammo everything wasn’t getting addressed. Big picture thoughts should prevail now. Most GMs and coaches make every move to be the best they can this season. Try and save or at least justify them keeping their job. Not what’s best for this franchise right now. What’s best for this team is looking ahead. Targeting 2023 more or less.

This was the discussion with Schwartz.   I wouldn’t worry about anyone getting poached from here.  We like to get ahead of ourselves...fast forward the suckiness that is about to occur here for a while.    Let's get out of the toilet first before this idea of losing guys.

If Siri and Co make it to year 4, that's a positive.  Right now Ham has the idea,  let's try  to establish a young core first.  That should be the only concern at the moment

I’m on the Gannon side. But I even have concerned we aren’t getting poached from being a great team. But they steal Gannon before we can get the ball rolling. Like say we used those first two picks on defenders instead. Could field a bad team with a quality D. The bar is low for him. I think if he fielded just an above average D but it showed signs of improvement consistently throughout the season....he could get HC interviews.

I believe it worth considering. Siri can’t be poached. Get him a leg up. Let him really establish himself. Gannon we aren’t likely to keep. Four years is my max thinking with these coaches anyway. Really looking at this as our development staff. Which I do think was considered on purpose.

The bar low for Gannon he has to match Schwartz who didn’t have terrible Ds here and had just as little to work with could argue less last year.  Gannon going to get interviews though if he is successful

Added some more developmental prospects on D. A few guys along the Dline to get involved. Lb room is loaded with potential. Gotta sort through and dig out a guy or two there. Get a few working fast ball chess pieces that maybe aren’t the traditional position guy. Those hybrids that bring certain skills to the table. That development I’m not expecting to magically happen during TC. Might take some time. Identifying that is key year one. Making those choices of who stays and becomes a part of that.

Not really Gannon and Schwartz are completely different I’m not concerned about guys getting poached though and I don’t think this rebuild/retool takes as long as you
