Vinny Curry is back! I know we want to get younger but you just can’t beat the bang for the buck from this vet. He’s not a guy that’s logged a ton of snaps. So his body is younger health wise than his age. You just can’t ignore how he was very productive last season. Just makes too much sense to sign a guy on the cheap that is well versed in his job and still very productive.

With the limitations on incoming rooks any vet experience is a plus

I’m dying to know what the trade market will look like. All these players opting out. Then players will get positive tests. Plus your regular injuries. Teams are going to take especially hard hits in individual position groups is my guess. Just can’t have enough depth with roster constraints. We took a big swing in the draft to get younger. At the same time the league upped the numbers on the PS. We could get lucky and add to next year’s draft haul. Really turn over an old team in to fresh new faces in very short time span.

Could we see some type of "emergency" roster expansion? Also wondering if they count the opted out players as "comps" for the next draft.not real fair when you have 1 team with 1 opt out and 1 with 11 out.I have no clue. This is a mess

I don't really care if Miles Sanders is an " elite" RB.   I just need him good enough to be the lead RB in the system and just keep improving in all aspects.

If we run the ball 30 times per game, I'm good with him getting 15-18. Even less in certain games if it's lopsided.  The more you can rotate the other 2 guys in the better.

Do we win a SB without Blount. Same question can be asked of Ajayi and Clement.  This is a passing league, we have a coach that likes to pass.  We have seen how he can get away from calling running plays, when he doesn't think he has multiple options that are reliable to carry the football... like with having ALL of those 3 at the same time.

Also I don't think paying the " elite" RB leads to success.  Give me a guy that can be a starter,  a lead RB, # 1 in a committee.  I don't need the elite guy at RB to dominate snaps in a passing league.  I think the team success over the last decade or so is a great indication of that.

No WR's really kicked our game planning in the arse last year. We have a top QB,but we can't keep weapons around him.We spread the ball everywhere(I like that plan).I know Alshon wanted his 1k yard season(and was miffed he wasn't a "star"), but no WR's for us may have that for awhile as long as we have all the weapons at the other positions.I don;t want us to bank on 1,2 guys. The plan was just that, but when the WR's all went down, that threw a wrench into that idea.I SO want to see this team at full strength DEEP into a season

IDK I'm not making a set amount.if it's working and he's destroying the other team I go over 20 carries and he should have NP with that. Not that I want to burn him out,but there will be games where the running game isnt working so well. He can play less snaps in those games. If he's making 5 yards per carry on every down, you can bet he plays until he needs a breather

If it's a 5 yard consistent thing like it was in Miami last year, that is more so telling me the line is performing well.  That's perfect time to get someone else in there and keep running the ball.  The constant 5 yard thing is usually associated with a power RB type... say more so Howard.   Sanders is supposed to give you pop.  Will more reps help, sure... do we need to go overboard because we can't put another guy in there... I hope not.    I'm not big on a set # either, if he ha to occasionally carry 20 times, i'm ok with that.  If he has a game where he carries it 8 times, and we will by 3 TDS, I'm fine with that too.   The goal for me is the Eagles win, not Sanders stats or if he is " elite"   We had that selfish worry about the player RB here for a while with #25.    The belt looked good on his shoulders...   I believe he still has yet to step on the field for his team in a playoff win.    I would prefer to hear..... Miles Sanders SB Winner over Miles Sanders " elite, all pro or pro bowl"  RB.

Again, we may not know this ... but i'm sure it was part of what was taking so long in the recent negotiations.

No Mas forget the labels of elite Or whatever you want to refer to Sanders. The key is he’s a big time weapon. Enough so that the committee approach isn’t really relevant. We’ll get other backs involved. But there is a big gap between the top dog and the others. We now have a big time difference maker. If we get some vertical threats in the passing game it will open things up even more for him. In open space Sanders creates major problems for a defender. Spread out the defense and he can create. Really do some damage. I don’t know if he is going to be All Pro. I also don’t know if he will be SB Champion. That’s not all under his control. Adding a terrorizing weapon to the offense? That part he can deliver on!

I’m not overly thrived the Curry returning...I guess I understand it with the odd offseason we are dealing with getting a guy who knows our system and is an experienced vet can’t hurt... But wanted to see more of Sweat think the sky’s the limit with him. Wouldn’t have minded seeing Miller/ Ostman/ Hall getting some extra reps either as the 4th DE

I get where you are coming from you don’t need the elite RB in today’s nfl to be success but just my opinion I think Sanders going to push for the best RB in the East he will be right in the mix with Zeke(if he doesn’t completely fall off after such a massive workload his first few year) and Saquan.... Added bonus with Miles way less trend on the tires then both those guys and Duce is pretty good at spelling guys and not over working them

Kind of how I see Sanders big time weapon especially in the passing game most LBs won’t be able to matchup with him so teams will have to commit a S or a CB to Sanders which will only help everyone else

Correct..  you didn't have to use the word elite or worry about how he " ranks"   I feel same with Wentz, the idea is you have a guy at that position that is good enough to win with.    In Sanders case,  that position just needs to be the lead RB.  The guy that plays the most snaps and touches the ball the most out of the RB position.   He doesn't have to have the workload of either Zeke or Barkley, 2 guys drafted in the top 4.    If he can just do his job as a good starter, it's a better investment both where he was selected and how much he gets paid.   To win, we will still need to have multiple RBs. To me that is the committee... if that "label" to others means 33% each for 3 guys, that isn't what it means to me.    I would love Sanders to see 50-60% of the snaps and touches... the lead RB in the committee.  The starter, first string, whatever.   If he if effective there, the next 2 guys can fill in the rest.  70 plays, Sanders getting 40 ish is great.

I think Sweat is third. Curry will come in as fourth this season. I believe Curry was just slightly ahead of Sweat in snaps this last season. PFF had Curry ranked as 10th most effective pass rusher. PFF is far from perfect. But he made a difference in his return for sure. At 1.3 mil salary you just can’t beat that addition. And I’m calling him the fourth DE.

I’d like to see Ostman, Avery or Miller step up also. So that point is valid. I thought Hall would be on PUP but I believe they outright cut him.

I don’t think the running back by committee means a 33 percent carries situation. But it usually refers to rolling with the hot handed RB. That you don’t necessarily have a top guy...so whoever is most effective that game you stick with. That’s why we are done with the RBBC. Sanders is our guy. Scott has earned second string. I believe we Need Warren as that other type of RB to fill in specialty needs. But if we go three and out I’m not switching out Sanders for the next series for sake of feeding the committee. We sustain successfully long drives then you give him a breather. Which I’d call just a normal positional hierarchy...than a committee approach. Sanders is too lethal to lump him in as part of a RBBC.

Like I said I get the move especially with the odd offseason we are dealing with and really nothing against Curry I like the guy and was a bargain deal just rather have went younger and hopefully seen guys make strides. Honestly think if we needed to bring Curry back could have waited don’t think he was going anywhere...

The Browns were trying to sign him.

LOL , ok so who has the most possibility of being "hot handed". Even a few bad plays or a slow start means I'm playing my guy. Anyone else we have that can replace Sanders? RBBC- I am looking at 75-80% snaps for Sanders with others sprinkled in(Warren,Scott). Now we may find depending who we play that a guy like Scott can make better plays vs their defense, but no way do I want Sanders sitting long enough to "cool off".Maybe a series here and there, but if I had my way Sanders is on the field as much as possible

I think you have Ostman and Avery battling for that specialty pass rusher role...Joker or Hybrid role. Call it that extra chess piece for Schwartz. Some games...some matchups....or maybe just at that right moment....throw in that fifth rusher.

Sanders was the thirteenth most targeted RB in the passing game last season.

  • Author

63 targets for Sanders and Scott getting 27 looks in the air.

  • Author

I like that ratio(Sanders/Scott). Just add to those numbers. Sanders as the full time starter. Scott as the locked in number two.
Now I must point out the lack of WR targets last season. So I’m hoping for more distribution to that position group. So I wouldn’t get crazy raising the RB target numbers. But I’d still expect Sanders to move into the top ten of RB targeted. Scott should leap up into the top thirty I believe.

Christian McCaffrey with a whopping 142 targets last season. Holy crap!

I'm sure i'm in the minority here but i don't have a problem with the RB by committee approach. It keeps the players fresh throughout the season and lessens the chance of an injury caused by fatigue.

Kinda on the fence here.  I'd love to see Miles get more touches which could also happen in passing game. But I don't want him getting burned out either. Hoping Duce is monitoring his prospective workload accurately.

Plus you’d have to figure a second year of NFL weight training and diet will factor in and extend his durability.
