Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is a starting guard for the Kansas City Chiefs and a Super Bowl champion. He's also a doctor who has spent his offseason fighting COVID-19 in his hometown of Montreal, and because of that experience he has decided to opt out of the 2020 NFL season.

"Being at the frontline during this offseason has given me a different perspective on this pandemic and the stress it puts on individuals and our healthcare system," Duvernay-Tardif said in a statement on Twitter. "I cannot allow myself to potentially transmit the virus in our communities simply to play the sport that I love. If I am to take risks, I will do it caring for patients."

Duvernay-Tardif, a sixth-round draft pick in 2014, has started each of his 44 games in the past four seasons. He has also missed 20 games due to injury, but he was on the field for every offensive snap in Kansas City's three playoff wins last year.

Whatever, I'm not taking a f****n vaccine!

I'm sure as hell not taking it until they've figured out the side effects.

He was MVP of the league last year....or should have been anyway.

16 mil a year they signed him to...after that season. Good bargain for the MVP

We have Fletch, Gravedigger, Malik and Ridgeway at DT. We have Graham, Barnett and Curry that can move inside also. Sweat probably could also...especially if he has added to his core strength this offseason.

What does that leave for openings on the 53 man roster along the Dline? I’m thinking like one. One spot for everybody to battle it out for and that makes nine Dline.

Contemplating the 53: We really just need TC to figure out the last ten spots. When I look through the roster 43 is about the number of locked in players. The goal is to keep them healthy.

That’s off the top of my head guys that I’d be surprised to see cut.

Haven't heard or seen anything about the rest of the guys Ham, frustrating

My main battle right now is devising ways to keep birds, squirrels and those @#$! chipmunks from eating our tomatoes! Feel like Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

RB Clement, RB Warren, WR Hightower, G/T Driscoll, DE Ostman, LB Alex Singleton, CB Craig James(over Douglas), WR Quez Watkins

These are my top choices probably for the remaining spots.

I don't think Riley, Brown or Perkins are locks. And I would be kind of surprised if both Riley and Brown make the team, since neither one is very good. Schwartz does like Riley, so I think his chances are better. Brown seems like the kind of guy you could cut and re-sign if you need him, since no one else is going to pick him up.

I don’t think the running back by committee means a 33 percent carries situation. But it usually refers to rolling with the hot handed RB. That you don’t necessarily have a top guy...so whoever is most effective that game you stick with. That’s why we are done with the RBBC. Sanders is our guy. Scott has earned second string. I believe we Need Warren as that other type of RB to fill in specialty needs. But if we go three and out I’m not switching out Sanders for the next series for sake of feeding the committee. We sustain successfully long drives then you give him a breather. Which I’d call just a normal positional hierarchy...than a committee approach. Sanders is too lethal to lump him in as part of a RBBC.

Correct, Sanders is the lead back in the committee.

Yep... what was Carolina's record?

That's great, how did that translate into team success.   The RB is not what it was back in the 70s and 80s... it's a passing league.  The star RB with the big work load doesn't translate into championships.   We have a nice starting RB.. it's enough without worrying about him being elite or having to stay on the field.  Our coach loves to pass and loves our QB.

Fipp loves Riley. Says he has an infectious personality and work ethic. That’s where both guys shine massively is ST. Perkins I think we learned what a mistake it was to cut last season. We want to run two TE sets. So you need a quality third. Perkins has versatility and can fill in at WR as well. He’s a vet that is well learned in this offense also.

But I’ll give you those guys are on the bottom of my 43 list.

So you envision games where another RB gets more touches than Sanders? Is there a lead back in a committee? It kind of means you don’t have a top dog almost by definition.

This RB had 142 targets....IN THE PASSING GAME

And if you are suggesting that Christian McCaffrey can’t be a part of a Championship Roster....you’re just flat out wrong.

No Mas you’re caught up in a Championship can only be won the way it’s been won in the past. You’re stuck on duplication as the only means of glory. I don’t think that way at all. I think innovation is the best way to glory. But I also can see how a team can go with a retro formula to success. Watched the Niners dominate by being bigger and more physical and run the ball to dominate the league. Watched Henry carry the Titans one step from the title game. Seahawks looked like one of the top teams when they had Carson dominating. But then the opposite of KC and all their speed and finesse. The Pats with their accuracy, timing and cheating utilized their short passing getting it done.
