January 6th Commission

This is going to go very differently from the impeachment trials. You have people who were there on the ground, and video corroborating these claims.

The more they continue to put MAGA on trial, the more it's going to chip away at support among more moderate rational Republicans who are clinging to the party for whatever reason.

It will probably just drive a more normal republican nomination. Doubt many people flip parties over this.

the blue lives matter movement always seemed so important to trumpers. i wonder what happened ?

Ha. Much like the All Lives Matter movement, its only purpose was to troll Black Lives Matter. When in disagreement with a cop (or "all lives"), they'll chuck their half baked movement in the toilet and assault whoever they want.

Yeah, I think you're being very ... optimistic, maybe is the word?

Until Trumplicans are rejected heartily at the ballot box, it's been made clear by right-wing leadership (at least in the House) that it's all-Trump or nothing. McCarthy, Stefanik, etc. have doubled down on this, and are in full-court press mode to deflect blame away from those actually responsible for what happened Jan 6.

We won't know until November 2022, and by then frankly this commission will be a distant memory.

People change on a dime. Look at Ted Cruz hating them loving trump. In 2 years there will be someone nominated, who most likely isn’t as arse hat crazy as trump.

Agreed. Not matter how vile Republicans get, voters are adamant they are the party opposite of Democrats.... People aren't suddenly going to become Democrats. They aren't going to start a new party. So the Republican party will stand for perpetuity. It probably has something to do with money and power... I hope the senile Republicans are able to grasp control from the crazy Trumpers.

will this even be covered by the media outlets most repugs consume?

Just because Trump told them to go to the capitol to take back America, and they said he did, does not mean that is what happened.

Fake news.

Politicians change on a dime. But most people don't, and a significant portion of the Republican party at this point is ride-or-die MAGA. Maybe not a majority, but a plurality, and they are a "no compromise" plurality.

It's going to be an interesting few years to be sure.

I think Trump has given a formerly "aggrieved" but pliable group a taste of at least feeling they have a voice. I don't think they will give that up easy.
