Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said during an appearance on CNN that he has helped plan coups in other countries while arguing that former President Trump’s actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack did not amount to a coup attempt.

Bolton told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday that Trump’s actions to overturn the election results were indefensible but added that the former president was a "disturbance in the force” rather than a leader of an "attack on our democracy.”

I mean, Trump would have had to get the military to go along with it to really seize power.  It’s hard to imagine a scenario where that happens.
On the other hand, most of us have always taken American democracy for granted.  But you know what they say about assume.  It makes an ASS out of U and ME.

You knowing some Latinos who hate the term "Latinx” seems like a made-up story to me

Take a look at any of the polls that have been conducted Dave.  It is a well understood item.

Like the destruction of Alderaan was a disturbance in the force ?

The military is not required for a coup.

It's subjective, though almost certainly correct, that for a coup to succeed in the US the US military needs to be on board.

But one does not need the military of the state to be on board to stage a coup.

A coup is, simply, a violent seizure of power. That definition fits quite neatly with the stated goals of many who breached the Capitol building.

So what your saying is, it was no where near a coup, no where near an insurrection but just a couple thousand hillbillies being rowdy. Interesting.

Bolton was talking about coups he helped plan in other countries where the military was undoubtedly involved.  Or maybe a large para-military group.  IDK

"The empire did nothing wrong" types tend to side with authoritarian regimes that "merely want orderly society and are willing to kill to obtain it"

Fascism in Germany got its legs from young German men forming paramilitary groups.

Just saying

In the Jan 6th situation, it wasn't a matter of seizing power but rather retaining it in an illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral manner.  A different context than what one normally thinks of when discussing a coup.  The military would simply need to stay out of the way as opposed to being directly involved which is the classic case for most coup situations.

This is something you retards have struggled with for a while now. Let's try again. An incompetent attempt at committing a crime is still an attempt.

Right if the President is Commander-in-Chief and he tells the military to stand down while ruffians take over then it would work (I guess).

What does the term Latinx have to do with the trans topic?  Hater.

It’s a gender-neutral term.  So if you think gender is fluid…

A gender neutral term doesn't directly imply non-binary.  Anyway, that wasn't the point.  People of Latin descent don't like the word.  Find another one.  Hater.

Why don’t they like it?  Seems rather useful to me.

They should all be banned from Congress

I’d be curious to hear how many coups John Bolton has actually helped plan.  More than five?

FDR:  we must be the arsenal of democracy

John Bolton:  I’ve planned a lot of coups.
