October 14, 20222 yr I won, the election was rigged, the election was fraudulent. It was all a premeditated plan. So said Trump, Rodger Stone and Steve Bannon. Trump planned to falsely declare victory months prior to 2020 election: Jan. 6 committee The House Jan. 6 committee presented evidence at its hearing Thursday showing that former President Donald Trump planned to falsely declare he had won the 2020 election months before Election Day. As the votes were still being counted on Nov. 3, 2020, Trump held a rally in New York City, where he asserted without evidence that he had defeated Joe Biden. "This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” Trump declared on election night, adding, "We want all voting to stop.” After showing a clip of that statement, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., laid out the committee’s case that Trump knew full well it was too early to make such a declaration and had plotted to deliver it whatever the final results showed. "We now know more about President Trump’s intention for election night. The evidence shows his false victory speech was planned well in advance, before any votes had been counted,” Lofgren said. "It was a premeditated plan by the president to declare victory no matter what the actual result was. He made a plan to stay in office before Election Day.” The committee obtained a prepared statement from the National Archives that was written on Oct. 31, 2020, by Tom Fitton, a conservative legal activist and founder of Judicial Watch. "We had an election today, and I won,” the memo suggested that Trump say. The memo, Lofgren said, laid out a plan "that only the votes counted by the Election Day deadline” should be counted. Given the larger number of Democratic-leaning votes cast by mail amid the coronavirus pandemic, that plan appeared designed to hand Trump victory while disenfranchising millions of Americans. "In the course of our investigation, we also interviewed Brad Parscale, President Trump's former campaign manager. He told us he understood that President Trump planned as early as July that he would say he won the election even if he lost,” Lofgren said.

October 21, 20222 yr Yep. It's official. Jan. 6 panel issues subpoena to Trump, demanding he testify WASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol issued a subpoena Friday to Donald Trump, exercising its subpoena power against the former president who lawmakers say "personally orchestrated” a multi-part effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The nine-member panel issued a letter to Trump's lawyers, demanding his testimony under oath by Nov. 14 and outlining a request for a series of corresponding documents, including personal communications between the former president and members of Congress as well as extremist groups. "We recognize that a subpoena to a former President is a significant and historic action," Chairman Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Liz Cheney wrote in the letter to Trump. "We do not take this action lightly.” It is unclear how Trump and his legal team will respond to the subpoena. He could comply or negotiate with the committee, announce he will defy the subpoena or ignore it altogether. He could also go to court and try to stop it. The subpoena is the latest and most striking escalation in the House committee’s 15-month investigation of the deadly Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection, bringing members of the panel into direct conflict with the man they have investigated from afar through the testimony of aides, allies and associates.

If Trump isn't in prison and runs and wins in 2024 he will use the DOJ as his personal attorney just like he did when he was in Office and have them attack his political rivals and stop prosecutions of his supporters.

If he can successfully delay the proceedings and the Repubs gain control of the House then the committee would be reformed and under control of pro-Trump Reps. It takes time before this one gets out of the House and into the courts. That's my understanding. Somebody explain where I'm wrong here.
October 22, 20222 yr Relatively speaking, Trump was never in much legal peril as a result of the Jan 6th committee. Prior to the FBI raid, the most obvious path to criminal charges was his call to Raffensberger, and also the scheme to coordinate the submission of false slates of electors. Those two, and now the goods the FBI has on him for mishandling classified docs, aren't in any way affected by the House swinging to the Republicans. The timeline for the investigation to complete and charges to follow might stretch into next year, but he can't run out the clock on them like he will on this subpoena.

A live hearing. No way he sets foot in there subjected to editing.

Perjury is a Felony and the reason Clinton was impeached.

Now he's a private citizen. Again, there's just no chance he goes under oath in front of the Commission, live or otherwise, but especially live. More than anything, Trump's an insecure coward. Going under oath forces him to either commit perjury hundreds of times or be normal, which is not a side he's in anyway comfortable showing to his cult members.
