Representative Perry from PA was implicated in the scheme to replace acting AG Rosen with Trump lackey Jeffrey Clark.

Fry them all! I'd pay the power bill to see them all cooked.

he misspelled smocking...but wow!  :pizza:

Quote

Representatives Mo Brooks, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Louie Gohmert and Scott Perry were among the Republican members of Congress who asked President Donald Trump to insulate them from future prosecutions by granting them presidential pardons in the days immediately following the attack on the US Capitol on 6 January last year.

you don't say.

The issue doesn't seem to be lack of evidence against Trump. If it was evidence collected at someone at any other level of government it would have been acted on by the DOJ already.

The issue is the DOJ acting against a former president for the first time in our nation's history, and adding that being a DOJ under a president of the opposing party.

Fair or not, the reality is that it will be played up by the right as a politically motivated witch hunt. We've already seen the brain dead apologists here try to make it seem like our current economic situation is more important than the rule of law and defending democracy.

I'd argue however that while there's risk prosecuting the case, there's far more risk in doing nothing.

dems are hoping the "court of public opinion" will make trump politically irrelevant...but they're greatly underestimating the gullibility and lack of morals of the trump cult.

Yep. Being the president is going to save him from trying to destroy democracy. Isn't it ironic, dontcha think?

The best outcome for the country would be for this to happen and without prosecution.  Doesn't seem likely though.

I wonder why they wouldn't allow cross-examination from the parties being accused?

Because the "party being accused" refused to take part.  Did you not know this already??  Even Trump is backpedaling and saying the Republicans should have taken part.  Likely because he and his minions are being torn to threads.

Wondering is a lot easier than trying to find something out, you bet.

That's false.

The Republicans originally put forth a list of people for the committee. Pelosi rejected them.

how closely does that list match the "asked for a pardon" list?  :lol:

Don't know. Does that make the truth of my post less true?

🤔

Wit requires thought.

McCarthy's other nominees are:

  • Illinois Rep. Rodney Davis;
  • Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan;
  • Rep. Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota;
  • and Texas Rep. Troy Nehls.

Banks, Jordan and Nehls voted against certifying the election.

so have people involved in the plot investigate themselves. sounds like something repugs would propose.

anyway, almost everyone who has testified so far has been a republican...many of them voted for trump and many were appointed by cheeto himself.

Imagine? :lol:

The fact that these people can say this unironically and keep a straight face is too much. :lol: :roll:

While this was done the wrong way, it's clear there should be many more crowds protesting how this Country is ran.

He's unfit and a mentally challenged man.  He should never hold a public office again.  Right after the Jan 3rd meeting where they talked him off the Clark cliff, it was shortly after that he called AAG AGAIN about seizing voting machines.  That's insane.  Worst President of my lifetime.

You clearly lack wit, and there is no sign of you putting thought into any of your posts.

Love how you removed the part of my post where Trump has specifically called out R leadership for not being part of the process now that he looks like crap

I was commenting on that part of your post. One had nothing to do with the other.

So they would be perfect for counterpoint on whether this was insurrection or incitement by federal agencies to prevent the evidence of fraud from being brought to light and being heard on C-SPAN. They depend on people not understanding this nuance.

No, they would have turned it into a clown show. And that isn't even getting into the conflict of interest where evidence may lead to one or more of them being investigated for their actions leading up to Jan 6.

The only purpose they would serve would be to undercut the investigation. It would be like having low level mafia stooges part of the unit investigating the don.
