At the time of the play, I think the taunting penalty was weak. But what the hell is Genard freakin Avery of all people even thinking of doing anything in that moment? Turn around and line up for the next play. You stopped Fournette after two yards, congrats. There’s no need to be flexing on someone when the play wasn’t even anything special and you’ve been losing all game.

This isn't just an Genard Avery or Eagles issue.....it's league wide.

Guys are flexing, posing, dancing, etc after rare, routine plays.  I understand when making a big gain, a TD, Sack, fumble recovery, int.

The league apparently wants every player to just to get and go straight to the huddle

Ruining the game IMO. Hopefully they reverse that rule

I was surprised there wasnt more complaining about this play last night.

What makes it even worse, is the elbows Brady purposely threw in Barnett's face, as you can see in the first embedded video on this article

Hell, it was an interception. 10 minute review is ridiculous.  When in doubt favor the cash cow. The officiating was awful last night. But Eagles players really need to call for the PI flag.

Not the worst LB on the team which is saying a lot.

I don't like the rule but he should have got up and went straight to the huddle. He didn't do anything.

Big fan of Gowan   , hopefully  he gets some playing time

How many times did we pass on him? Who did we take over him?

Basically the entire draft class except for Stevens/Johnson.

But we "loved" him.

Another true Russell Wilson story but with a happy ending this time

OK, well, taking a step back to digest that ish sandwich, here are my thoughts that no one asked for.

1. After the 1st 2 drives, you really can't complain that much about the defense. Even overall they held up well since the offense was putting them right back on the field again and again. Gannon's system annoys me at times, but holding Brady to 28 when the offense is 3 and out on every drive for the first three quarters -- not terrible. Slay made Evans a non-factor, and I still think Epps caught that ball. Sure, TB was in range to score on the last drive, and Epps needs to stop that pass to Brown on 3rd down. Still...I'll take that from the defense on short rest.

2. I've seen enough of Hurts. The pocket presence is just abysmal. I can't take watching him just bail out when the pocket is stable time and time again. It's like he just decided that at 3 seconds, he's moving no matter what. Minshew showed he can be an NFL QB, Hurts has not. Let's see this offense with Minshew so we can more fairly evaluate NS.

3. Reagor had no catches, but with 2 good throws he has a monster night.

4. I feel somewhat optimistic about the offense away from QB??? Line played well against a great pass rush while being a bunch of backups. Watkins, Smith and yes, Reagor, seemed to get open.

The schedule is about to get a whole lot easier. I'm not sure why we need to continue sending Jalen out there at this point.

This is where I'm at.  I don't think NS wants to run an RPO exclusive offense.  He's trying to adapt to his QB and is failing (which is HS and college offense).  Hurts has never played under center or been in a conventional offense.  Now you can be sure he has directives from Lowie that their 2nd round QB pick has to play so he's trying to make the best of it.  He's not going to ask Hurts who can't last 2 seconds in a clean pocket without dropping his eyes and running out of it to be a drop back passer.  It's been proven it's not going to work.  His pocket awareness, footwork and arm talent isn't there.  Nor can he progress quickly enough through multiple reads.  He relies on broken plays.  Hurts' history is clear as to what he is, Nick's isn't.  He's dumbed down the offense for his QB.  Now he's getting the brunt of it.  If I were him I'd force Hurts into his offense and let him sink at this point.  Put him under center more, call run plays that don't have the option of becoming a pass, quit the WR screen heavy offense, make him pass from the pocket, etc...That way it's made clear to Lowie that Hurts is nothing more than a backup in this league.

and so the field goal didn't matter either way then. I mean they were toying with us right?

I do wonder if not covering the spread was just a happy coincidence.

Probably not.

I don't think he will much, but it may give them the ability to go dime.  He's not gonna start over Slay/Nelson/Maddox.

Actually, with a mini bye.

This would be the week to change QBs.

Gowan is a project, only played one season at high level college football, which is why he fell in the draft, opted out of the 2020 season.

But he's now been through a NFL TC. Don't expect to see him a lot this year, but with Nelson on a one year deal, he'll be in the mix in training camp.

Has the length Gannon likes in his outside CBs.

I hope Ertz kills it in AZ.

IMO, he was criticized, both early and late in his career, far more than he deserved.  He always has been a FINESSE receiving TE.  You don't have to like that about him...I don't.

But there is a distinction between that and not giving effort.  You can see that the guy didn't want to leave the field at the end of last year or the end of this game.  He didn't want to leave HERE.  In an era when no one wants to be in Philadelphia and no athletes really want to play here, this guy didn't want to leave.

I'll root for him wherever he goes in his career.

Either he turns it around and we have a QB...or he doesn't and we get a better draft pick.

They shouldn't.  They might though.  I'd rather they stopped retiring numbers and just go with the Ring of Honor thing and create a space in the stadium to honor their (team) HoF players.  Retired numbers should be reserved only for the best of the best... greatest players of a generation type stuff.

Reggie - yes.  Steve Van Buren - yes.  Bednarik - yes.  Dawkins - yes.  The rest?  Probably should have never been retired at all.  The rest are all worthy of inclusion in the team's commemoration and celebration of the past, but retirement just doesn't need to happen with everyone that's really really good.   They will run out of numbers if they continue to retire numbers so frequently.  BUT... they could go with 'Legacy' numbers.  86 could become the number of your best TE.  That would be more appropriate to me.

thanks for the memories zac but change is good.  Liked Gowan pre draft.  Can be a surprise starter outside next year
