Not that it really matters, but it seems like the overwhelming opinion on Twitter is that Cardinals fans are disappointed to see Gowan go even if he hadn’t played a snap. Kinda weird.

Noah Tongiai syndrome.

I keep hearing about the "Sirianni system.” We need to see if fill in the blank can play in Siris system….  Wtf is the Sirianni system? Guy was a wr coach he doesn’t have any system.

I can guarantee a slight variation in the formation that would catch the defense off guard, possibly sending a player on defense into shock…….  Jalen Hurts takes a snap, UNDER CENTER!!    By the time the Middle Linebacker figured out it’s not Flacco, easy screen pass… To the sideline…

That is being generous, unfortunately.

What does the following mean?  This is on Spotrac.   The orange is the cap hit, the red is the dead cap hit.

POTENTIAL OUT: 2022, 2 YR, $26,550,000; $15,640,000 DEAD CAP

Slay is being paid like a CB #1, and playing like a CB #1. The cap hit is fine. It doesn't matter when his cap hit takes place, the AAV works over a 2-3 year period (he'll be on the team in 2022).

Nelson sat on the open market for weeks and weeks. Teams arent knocking down his door with bags of money. He is playing well, but a sub-premium price on the extension should be doable.

People were worried that Nelson hit the wall. He hasn't + he's cheaper now from a cap perspective because we already paid the signing bonus. His base salary is sub 1M, so any team acquiring him is paying 7/17 of that. IMO, that's worth a 5th rounder. It also lets us play McPhearson and find out what he can do.

I have absolutely 0 interest in losing Nelson and playing McPhearson.

What's the point in going 7-10, while playing Nelson over McPhearson, Ridgeway over Williams, Kerrigan over Jackson, Wilson over Edwards/Taylor, etc.

Theres no point in a purposeful tank. This team is only a QB away from being a wildcard team and has tons of premium draft capital in the offseason with some cap space to improve in other areas and be even better next year.

If they are bad enough to lose a few more, then you can start checking out the young guys. Right now, the best team needs to be playing. That includes Minshew over Hurts.

The fact that not all 7 billion people on the planet believe he does, proves he hasn’t taken enough heat.

He took too much heat. A lot of his moves that he got flack for are actually working out.

Go on…

Weren't we supposed to suck this year?  Didn't most of us already expect this?

So why are we acting like we're surprised that we're terrible.

I think the team is really better than most people expected, and are willing to admit.

I agree that the roster is average to slightly above average and a real QB makes this a payoff team.

However, Nelson/Wilson/Ridgeway are unlikely to be on the team next year. So if we're not winning this year, and they're not here next year, trading them to give young players reps helps in the short-term (picks) and long-term (young guys playing in 2022).

Tua downgraded to questionable.

None but the business may not see it that way and look at how people are talking about Sirianni and Gannon after covering the spread but losing to the world champions.  Makes it seem like Nick and his staff are fighting for their jobs, especially Gannon.  Now trades, if available but benching Nelson, for example, who I think has some escalators built into his contract, if he is playing better than McPhearson, could hurt with signing future free agents.  Now benching the others?  It is not like Kerrigan and Wilson are playing that great so absolutely. But with four DEs, Kerrigan is spelling Sweat or Barnett as is Jackson so he isn’t stealing any reps from Jackson. Same for Ridgeway.  He isn’t stealing reps from Williams, he is taking them from Marlon T.  So far, what has Marlon T showed to make him active over Ridgeway. But Ridgeway is dirt cheap and the most likely to be resigned at the same rate.  Nelson, Kerrigan and Wilson should not be back.

At some point very soon Kerrigan might just get waived if he isn't offering anything but a fresh body.  I don't see a first-year coaching staff benching any veterans; they're smart enough to know the veteran guys (who are performing) provide stability while the young guys learn.  Even if Slay and Nelson are getting 100% of the snaps, there is a benefit to watch-and-learn and supplement during the week in practice.  Trial by fire is not the only learning tool.
