He has sanders and ertz open here that should’ve been easy completions and first downs.

Sirianni can't make that change, until he changes himself and acknowledges that they need to call more straight run plays to help Hurts.

See, therein lies the rub.  Hurts unwillingness or inability to throw over the middle, especially the intermediate throw allows the middle of the defense to key on the inside run.  That allows the back five to key on the sidelines including the joker assigned to Hurts.  Results in second and long, which we have seen the last few weeks. I don’t think that is Sirianni as much as I think it is Hurts struggles to see the whole defense and his height hinders seeing around the line.  All he sees is the push of the interior DL.

Looks like I was right in my speculation that it was some sort of depression and anxiety that Lane was going through.

You also speculated a family health issue, retirement and god knows what else.  If you throw enough ish at the wall, something will stick.

Ertz to the cards

McNabb to Redskins

This was a really good design by Sirianni. Obviously Hurts is too late with the throw, but the play was there to be made if Reagor continues running. Too many errors.

That could be...  but unless the team sees Sirianni as willing to change himself, it will be harder to make a change at QB.

Snead and Jurgensen have been exchanged.

Yes, agreed that Staley seems a much better communicator than Sirianni. At least when it comes to the press. I really hate conspiracies, but man is it tough to ignore what appears to be a very large influence in Howie/Lurie. It seems they just hang over every aspect of the team, where most successful teams have the head coach as the centre of attention. I wonder how much of Nick struggling in pressers is a result of Lowie being in his ear about what to say.

It's probably a combination of that and him just not really being a great articulator outside of "rah-rah" talk. But in the end, Nick is just a puppet for Lurie and Roseman. That's what they want in their coach and it's why they'll miss out on better coaching candidates who actually have options. There will always be someone willing to take a head coaching job to put up with that. It's still a prestigious position and there are only 32 of them in the world. They work their professional lives for it. But we'll never get in-depth answers to anything regarding the roster, gameplan, etc because that's how the owner wants it.

we just acquired Norm Van Brocklin  I could see us winning a championship in the next few years

Interesting.  Good breakdown of some pretty ugly football.  I must have missed all of those Wide Receivers that Nick is "scheming open".  I would bet if there was a ton, this guy would have found them.  But he had his hands full breaking down poor mechanics, poor effort, poor design and an overall sloppy offense.  But I am sure that there is film out there of a bunch of plays that shows how Nick's "scheme is clearly working".     Hurts doesn't have the arm talent to make some of the throws this offenses is asking him to make.  JT says it, there were some tough throws they are asking him to make.  That's a bad QB in a bad offense lead by a bad coach.

I get your disdain for Sirianni as a puppet, and there's likely some truth to it.

But there does seem to be more plays than not with guys being open. Look at the clips Manu posted above. Hurts is running away from clean pockets for no reason, then celebrating a first down run so he thinks he's made a good play.

Yes, Nick should run the ball more often, no debate there. But, he does seem to be scheming WR's open. I don't think it's all that arguable. It's not the be all/end all of being a head coach of course. It's a huge change from last year when every pass thrown was a contested catch. At least now, there is a glimmer of hope that an actual NFL QB could do OK with Nick.

Heard we are signing LeCharles Bentley but Adam caplan saying it’s still a fluid situation

not to say Siri is a great offensive mind. Smith is open a TON - now that may be more of Smith is amazing, but either way Hurts isn't throwing to him when he should be.

I’m sorry but the Dillard video is hilarious, he was only late by 2 seconds.   Literally asleep or completely zoned out, lol.

I know some of you don't venture outside The Blog so I wanted to post what I thought was a good video (breakdown on game film by former QB JT O'Sullivan) someone posted in the Jalen Hurts Discussion thread, showing Hurts and the O vs the Bucs.  There were a couple examples of poor play design, but there were examples of plays being there and Hurts missing them as well.  The thing I noticed most is how truly awful his throwing mechanics are.  He just doesn't set/plant his feet and drive the ball using his whole body.  He almost always takes a hop step just before throwing and often is throwing off just one foot.  This is the kind of issue that will take an entire off-season of constant work to start to correct.  Between him not being able to read the D pre-snap, get the ball to the open read quick enough, and his poor mechanics then I don't see how he makes any improvement this season.

I don't think they'll bench him yet.  Too soon for the FO.  I do think we need to see Minshew get a run of at least a few games to determine if it's more QB play or scheme that is holding the O back.  That comparison needs to happen before the season ends.

Makes me wonder if some of the slow reading is actually trying to recover from bad footwork.

The scheme itself is far better than what Doug was running the past 2 years.  Anyone who can't acknowledge that has blinders on.  There needs to be more designed runs (by the RB, NOT the QB).

DeVonta Smith is always open. This team passes on almost every down. Just throw him the damn ball.

You are rooting for them to improve the vast number of holes they have with the best talent possible. We've seen with Lamb how winning just one meaningless game can cost them.

If you're talking about the play that he stood still.  I saw that, I think it was a snap count deal.  Because the other part of the line, other than Kelce, reacted a little slow.  Just not as slow as Dillard.  Maybe he fell asleep.  It was funny as F though.

He’s like the kid in the class where everyone is having a discussion on WW2, and the teacher goes to him and he yells a+b=c!!

Yeah seeing boobs bounce around  in clothes on tic tok - is like why... just go to porn hub...

So, I don't know enough about RPOs to answer this, but I'm guessing some of you do. It seems Hurts always opts for the pass, regardless of what the end does or how many are in the box. Are defenses doing something to fool Hurts into pulling the ball, or is he just trying to play hero ball?

It feels like Nick needs to drop the RPOs and just call running plays FFS. I know the new age is to give QBs options to respond to the defensive look, but that only works if your QB can diagnose the defense.
