Hurts got benched for Tua. Maybe the coaching staff didn't know what they were doing?

Let's just let the season play out, Siri and Hurts are probably both feeling things out, I mean when you look at Lawrence, Wilson and Fields, why are you surprised with Hurts' struggles?

People forget how putrid Wentz was in 2016 after 4 good games, struggled the rest of his rookie season. And that was with Peters, Kelce and Brooks on the OL.

I figure on Indy going 8-9, just missing the playoffs (Titans go 9-8) and giving us the #14 pick.

100% this.  That pick showed a lack of commitment to him.

The Hurts pick was stupid but it wasn't from a lack of commitment to Wentz.  That picked was from a lack of faith that he'd stay healthy.  They should have signed a cheap veteran backup instead.

Im not surprised to hear that the team chemistry has been excellent. Ben hasnt been there.

I dont think this chemistry thing is even just about having or not having a spiteful Ben in the locker room during this fiasco.

I think Ben is likely the cause of poor team chemistry dating all the way back to his rookie year. The team is better off without him, regardless of this dispute, or even well prior to it.

The responsibility is on the HC to call actual running plays without the option to pass or Jalen keeping when no actual runs are resulting from these RPOs.

That is not what I asked you.  We are running an RPO offense.  The decision of run or pass on those plays falls strictly on Jalen Hurts.

Why are we comparing a guy in his second season with rookies ??

Too late.  Thibodeaux is on his way to be the consensus #1 pick without any QB on the radar.  With their 2 wins, the Eagles are likely higher than HOU, JAX, and DET already.

Start planning on the #4 or 5 pick being the ceiling.

Could be a trade target for Dillard.

What does Jalen Hurts excel at?

We are 1/3rd into the season and I have no idea what Hurts even excels at or even what the offense does well. They are not a good passing team, and they are not a good running team because they just don't run. Wentz would have these passes in games that made you just say, wow. Every game, Wentz would have at least one. I have not seen a single pass like that from Hurts.

Before the season I had this team in the 4-6 range of wins. I still see them in that same range, however, I expected to see improvement and playing competitively. I haven't seen any of that this season.

Well, the only other comparisons available to Afan are to guys we all know suck.

I would trade Johnson before Dillard at this point.

That's what will make you pull your hair out.  Howie had his $140 million franchise QB and he thought the best way to address Carsons backup was by drafting a guy in the 2nd round.  Keep in mind this is after 2 years of Sudfeld learning the system to be just that, Carsons backup.  Should have 100% signed a veteran backup, you know like he did with Flacco (as bad as his contract is).

This whole problem could have been avoided if they had drafted Minshew instead of Thorson.

I've asked this question after every game.  On the field, what does Hurts do well as a quarterback?  He's an above average running weapon but that doesn't make him a good quarterback.  I have no idea what he does well.

Because Jalen Hurts is basically a redshirt Freshman

Compare him to whomever you want, the traits have been there for a while.

Throw in Hurts.

I think Dillard stinks and while Lane obviously has less days ahead of him than Dillard, Dillard isn't the long-term answer. At least with Lane you get elite OT play while he's playing.

With how much the right side gets injured we may have to keep Mailata at RT and Dillard will be at LT

Isn't that most pocket QBs in the NCAA?

Ryan Clark probably still thinks Cam Newton can take a team to the playoffs.

So we are 18th in DVOA per Football Outsiders.  (Offense - 18th, Defense - 18th, STs - 15th)

8 out of our remaining 11 games are against teams worse than us using this metric.  The Chargers are just above us.  Dallas and NO are in the top 10.

His arm was completely shot last season. Did he get surgery on it during the off-season?

Not sure.  I did see he got vaccinated recently.  Teams should be lining up to sign him now. 🥴
