Jalen Hurts does not have the skill set to line up under center and run play action.  He is slow diagnosing and releasing the ball from the shotgun, now you want him to play action with his back to the defense and then figure out where to go with the ball.  Horrible idea.

It does not take a particulare skillet to lineup under center and hand the ball off.  You're a full blown apologist for a completely clueless headcoach because you have maintained a very open hate for a kid with far more class than you'll ever come close to achieving.

The bolded assumes that our QB1 has the capability to run a conventional style offense. to which I would say not likely with what I have witnessed so far.

Now you can blame the HC for sticking with said QB, and you might be right, but my quess is he was told Hurts (barring injury) was the starting QB for this season by the Front office.

HC gets 100% of the blame for failing to call running plays.

Yes it does.  Because when you don't hand the ball off, you then have to process the field and make throws.  He is struggling to do that from the shotgun, while he has full view of the filed.  Now you expect him to do it after taking a 3, 5, 7 step drop, or after play action ??  That will make the following issues that he is not improving even worse.

Weaknesses
  • Has issues sustaining rhythm as passer with so many off-schedule throws
  • Inconsistent patience allowing routes to develop
  • Slow recognition of early throw opportunities
  • Leaves slants and crossers behind targets
  • Misses checkdowns and opts for harder throws
  • Needs to get better at trusting his pocket
  • Quick to drop his eyes when pressure mounts
  • More likely to void pocket than climb, scan and throw from it

I expect the head coach to call running plays.  You can continue to deflect from that obvious truth though.

It seems some are not aware RPO stands for Run Pass Option...

And guess who makes the decision to run or pass...

We are not running that type of offense.  Jalen Hurts is an RPO QB, we are running an RPO offense.  If Sanders is not getting carries, that is because Hurts did not select that option.

Thank you.

Who gives the flawed QB that OPTION????

The coaching staff.  The Coaching staff needs to take the option away from him, because it is not working.  The "scheme" is NOT WORKING with this QB.

That is the only offense he can run.  If he is struggling to read the field from the shotgun, how is he going to do it from under center and on play action ??

I'll leave a note on Coach Calhoun's desk today to send his playbook to Siri.

I miss watching triple option football. I love all those wild schemes.

He managed to turn it around after they talked about his momma so we know how to motivate him

Any credibility you might have had, just tossing it away.  It is the head coaches responsibility to determine when we run and when we pass.  Not a very young inexperienced QB who only has 10 career starts.  It is up to Sirianni as the HC and play caller to call plays that are strictly handoff running plays to the RB, especially if the young inexperienced QB is not handing it off enough during the RPOs.

So he should institute a new offense because the QB can not run the offense put in place for him ?????

It's instituting a new offense to call a running play?

Yeah I guess it would be in a way.

We run an RPO offense.  That offense is run from the shotgun.  Lining up under center, handing off and running play action are not concepts that they practice.  So yes, it would be a new offense

No it's really not.  But hey, keep tossing that little bit of credibility out into the trash.  Hate Hurts so much you'll become a full blown apologist for one of the most clueless head coaches in the NFL.

Go watch the video posted a couple pages ago breaking down plays.  Hurts is just flat out not seeing the field and finding 2nd and 3rd reads that are open.  He is not good enough.

Yeah it's certainly trending towards Hurts not being good enough.  But the fact is that Sirianni has been god awful and it is 100% on him to make sure to call a running game to help his young inexperienced struggling QB out.  This isn't HS football.  This isn't college football.  This isn't arena football.  Throwing as as much as Sirianni does is no way to consistently win football in this league.
