I can understand that. LT is a premium position, he's played well the last few games but now Lane is back. He was probably on the trade block in the off season but the value wasn't there. His recent performances have perhaps bumped him to a fourth or something?

Dillard is more valuable than Johnson at this point.  Lane hasn't been good this year.  Lane wasn't good last year.  Unfortunately, though,  Howie has made his contract virtually untradeable.

Yes, if you can get a 2nd round pick for Dillard you make the trade -- but unless Lane picks up his play his contract starts to look very Alshon-like.

We're winning today.

I have no reason to believe this, but I have a gut feeling we win today.

Wow.

You haven't gotten the memo? Pocket Passers are passé.

It will never be passé.  Knowing where the QB is helps the OL block.  Passing from the pocket allows for timing routes, pinpoint precision and repeatability.

Exclusive pocket passers may be a dying breed, but all passers need to be effective within the pocket at the NFL level to be sustainable.  And that will never change, no matter what else gets added.

Eagles to lose by 10.

penalties total 80 yards + and a called back TD

Eagles run ball 25 times, gain 150yds on ground.  Win 22-21 on 2pt conversion to end game.

I agree.  Love Lane but he and Brooks are liabilities, sadly.   If we trade Dillard I'd try to get a conditional 2023 pick- 2nd rounder that becomes a 1st related to games started.  Starting LT is worth something.

What has a Dillard shown that warrants a 2nd rd pick ? Let alone a first .

That's what I ask for.  Rather keep him as no doubt Lane will miss many games until he retires.  It's a matter of value to the the Eagles moreso than value to others.  The cost of depleting depth the Eagles know they will use is a conditional 2nd rounder for a presumed starter.

If they got a second round pick i think they’d do it. I’ve had this feeling for a while now. At the end of next year you are either picking up Dillard’s 5th year option (not exactly worked out for the eagles doing so in the past) or giving him a new contract. If dillard is just competent not great or good but just competent he’s likely getting more than what vaitai made in FA which was 5 years $45mil and guaranteed $20 mil guaranteed which was signed in the 2020 offseason. With the cap expected to jump dramatically in the 2023 offseason and price going up each offseason at the position he’s likely looking at 12-14 mil if he’s just competent. If he’s great or good i don’t think the eagles would mind paying him but he’d have to get to that point before the end of next year.

Furthermore I’m betting the eagles like mailata much more at LT then right tackle. They also believe in stoutland. So they likely believe they can draft a tackle at some point and develop him behind mailata and lane to eventually replace lane and pay him much less than the 12+ with dillard. Unless dillard becomes good/great i don’t think the eagles want to pay him the money it’ll cost to keep him.

Giants have the worst record in the NFL since 2017, the Jets are the 2nd worst.  I thought it would have been Detroit, or Jacksonville, and Shurmur is still coaching offense in Denver Or is he?

I wouldn’t trade Dillard for less than a 2nd round pick

Yeah, I think he's clearly startable at this point. A 26-year-old starting LT is worth more than a 3rd.

You have to remember the value of a LT. Its considered the 2nd most important position on the field. Dillard has 1 more year and a 5th year option available for teams to use contract wise. Hes young, dumb and full of .....oh wait, family website here. Point is he has a tone of time to grow.

I think Dillard gets more of a bad rap then he deserves. His rookie year he played 2 games at LT and did good. He then played 1 game at RT which he never played before and was raped. He also expected to struggle according to his own comments in interviews before game day.  Anyone who played higher level football knows just swapping sides is not easy when you played one side your whole life. He has played a few games this season and looked fine, esp for coming in with no reps with the first team. Takes time and reps to get on the same page with your peers, even for seasoned vets.

So yes I would not move him at all unless it was a 2nd rounder due to his age, contract and limited time on the field/ potential. A first however is not realistic. I do agree there.

Come on now , he has done nothing since being drafted , he created his rap

Played well in 3 games, in a league in which most teams have average to poor OLs and Dillard is making very little money.

We shouldn't trade him for less than a 2, because he's an easy trade candidate during the off-season as well.

He has only played 5 games in his career and had more positives in those games then negatives. your basing it off one game he played in a completely new position.

You should really watch the whole game instead of just focusing on the QB every play. You might have a better experience and learn something about this wonderful game called Football.

Lane and Mailata have already missed time this season. He’s going to start again before the season is over.

It’s nice having a good backup LT to protect our franchise QB….

Yea , ok  sport  .

judging from your generic QB takes , you’re the one who would be better served watching more football .

that being said , I won’t go back and forth with you , it’s like talking football with a teenager .

Wonder what players would make sense to trade for? Wouldn’t mind flipping Dillard for a quality LB, DE, or S.

If we want a good price, it will likely be from a team that is competing - so who’s going give up a valuable player given that criteria… Al Harris 3 corner situation?

I'd take a 2nd in 2023. Not sure who is willing to give us that but I don't need a 2nd this year.  We are pretty strong with picks and I hope they use one to trade back to build even more of an arsenal of selections. Start building out into the 2023 draft.
