The OL depth is more valuable than a Day 3 draft pick.  I believe Dillard has talent; he just got beat out in training camp by a guy that earned a $16-20M contract extension

He also just got beat out by a guy who is only in his 3rd year of playing football ever.  Granted, Mailata is proving to just be a freak and a supreme athletic talent but what's that say for Dillard?  He's shown next to nothing.  When he's able to play he looks average.  Le'Raven Clark provides enough depth while on the PS.

The Eagles will have to decide what Dillard’s value is.  The NFL is a "what have you done for me” business, and Dillard is entering his 3rd season already and about to turn 26.

With the Mailata extension hitting the news Howie’s phone will be ringing.  LT is a premium position and Dillard will still be viewed as a better LT option than some teams’ starter right now.

I’m not sure I could see Dillard moving to G; he never played IOL in college and that would be a long term process to train him there.  The Eagles are committed to Lane through 2023 and Dillard through 2025.  If a team calls with a 2nd rounder offered I think the Eagles would move quick.

There will inevitably be injuries. My thought is keep him unless someone offers a 3rd or better. But if I’m a GM of another team I don’t think I’m offering more than a 5th. Dillard has shown next to nothing.

Still mad about that situation. Fell because of a murder he wasn’t even considered a suspect for. The fact that the Eagles (or any team) wouldn’t even use a 7th for that talent is ridiculous. Then he goes right to the Cowboys😡

I had inside info at the time which suggested that Goodell informed every team that if they weren't going to draft him by the third round, they were all supposed to agree to not draft him at all and allow him to sign with whatever team he wanted as a free agent. Given the fact that the Cowboys quickly signed him to a pretty big contract, don't you think they themselves would have drafted him if they had been allowed to do so?

As far as I can tell, he's never really lived up to the hype around him anyway. I guess he's okay but that's about it.

We’ll see by Monday afternoon.  Some teams LT will look like pylons and others might get injured.

@LeanMeanGM Younghoe Koo makes a field goal of at least 55 yards.

Dillard's weakness is raw power. No idea how he's gonna work at guard. He's more likely to be a security guard 5 years from now than an offensive guard.

Well, the Linc can always use one of those too.

It can't be said enough how great of a story Jordan Mailata is. From his move across the globe to do some basic training in FL, entering the draft and getting selected without ever playing a game, practicing for his first time without even knowing how to strap on a helmet, admitting to the struggle of being homesick, to be getting financial security for life by the age of 24, just 3 years later. On top of all that he just seems like a funny, charismatic, genuine dude.

If this isn't a movie at some point I don't know what is.

Crazy to think, but a Mailata extension was definitely the safest out of Mailata, Sweat, Goedert, and Barnett.

I love that Mailata is the guy to carry on the Eagles 20+ year legacy of excellence at the LT position. Worthy JP replacement on merit, not draft status.

For what it's worth, I don't think this Mailata extension says anything at all about Dillard. Frankly, I think they've always envisioned their tackles in future years as being Dillard on the left side and Mailata on the right, with Johnson being traded somewhere at some. I believe that's still their plan.

Oh, and I do think Dillard could play guard. He's amazingly athletic. His combine numbers were off the charts. Y'know, they successfully converted Jermaine Mayberry from tackle to guard after he was an initial disappointment. It's not really unprecedented.

As long as they get Sandra Bullock to play his mom I'm all for it.

Yup.

Jeff McLane being this transparent with his intentions makes avoiding the Inquirer that much easier.

Invincible is a movie... and not a very good one, especially as they changed some of the best parts of the actual story to make it more Hollywood.  👎

I enjoyed the movie.  Michael Oher did not.   Tells me everything I need to know about the movie being true to real life.

How could anyone in the Eagles FO/coaching staff have been all-in on Mailata as the long-term LT after the 2018 season? He was a second year player with literally zero regular season playing experience.

He is correct.  Just like Wentz contract, if you had you doubts and drafted Hurts, why give Wentz that deal.

I didn't like the Dillard pick at the time because of Mailata and his potential.  Obviously it was still a long shot at that point so it makes sense that the Eagles still pursued a potential future answer at LT.  That doesn't remove the blame of Roseman and the team for giving up so much to commit to moving up to draft a guy that by all accounts they did very limited research into prior to the draft and had very limited pre-draft contact with him.  There are red flags with him that other teams saw and we have now come to know over the years since drafting him.

It was a joke.

Let’s go Ducks!

It’s only 40 million guaranteed  , heck the eagles just paid almost that much to Wentz  to not play in Philly

good deal for that eagles
