The Lions might have the league’s slowest defense. That’s the only thing making me think the Eagles have a chance.

True but even with that defense they held the ravens to 19. Vikings to 19. And the rams just got to 28 late in that game. All those teams were held below their average. The bengals killed them the week prior but i feel like the lions are going to be juiced for this game as they believe they can beat the eagles. I’d be surprised if they don’t come out of the gate and punch the eagles in the mouth. Curious to see how the eagles respond.

Minshew is way better than both Flacco and Hurts and its not even close

We traded for Minshew, he wasnt a free agent. I can promise you that there are about 5-6 teams who would gladly have him, and we're one of those teams

This conversation doesn't need to go any further beyond Minshew being a serviceable starter that allows us to run an adult offense.

I think if we get to a certain point, we gotta go to Minshew or Flacco to be able to properly evaluate Sirianni and Steichen. This RPO or read option every play crap is maddening.

That being in mind, since there are so few actual franchise QB's in the NFL (less than there are teams in the NFL) so when ever you believe you have the chance to get an actual franchise QB, you HAVE TO DO ALL YOU CAN TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

In what sequence, though?  The Eagles' draft capital in this coming draft gives the opportunity to build some talent on defense.  I prefer build a competitive roster first, then drop in the QB (as TB did).

Nope.  They are 2-5.  They'd be at least 4-3.  At least.

I think he would be injured , OL is shaky to say the least

Getting a franchise QB for this numbnuts of a coach is a waste.  Lurie needs to clean house.  Let a new GM come in and make the calls.

well I cant argue that, and it is highly unlikely Howie can even identify a franchise QB. He seems to excell at finding bad talent, and washed up talent.

Though even a blind squirrel will find a nut once and a while.

Loaded defensive draft this year

Legit starter? or Serviceable Starter?

I'm not arguing Minshew is better then Hurts, But Minshew also isnt a starter in the league. Both can be, and are true.

Yes, he is capable of being a legit starter.  He has shown that, way more than some of the currently named starters in the NFL

Its clear to me that he is an infinitely better option to at a minimum get us through the year.

But hey thats just my opinion.  Theres only one way to find out, and having him wearing jeans holding a clipboard while Hurts struggles with a college offense isn't it.

My issue is you can get all that talent, and watch it go to waste if you never get a franchise QB (see the Browns from 1998ish to 2019ish)

All that talent wont do anything for you.

Not saying I don’t wanna fire howie because I do. but I fear for whatever idiot lurie brings in next. After the initial joy of cleaning house i move to the fear of who lurie actually hires.

Why did we trade for Minshew if he's gonna sit inactive every game?

That means Howie will blow the picks on an overrated QB prospect.

Minshew isn't a long term starter in this league -- he's not a guy you build a team around. But he is a serviceable, competent starter who can be a bridge QB until you find the guy. A younger version of Ryan Fitzpatrick or Case Keenum.

The problem is with Hurts, we have no idea how to really evaluate the coach, O-line, etc. because he is that bad and erratic. It has to be murder on the line to have no idea where he is after they hold up OK for 2 seconds, but he bails. The question is simple -- are Hurts' shortcomings holding back the evaluation and development of other players (line, WRs, etc.)? I would say yes. Get Minshew in there to get a better understanding of where the team stands.

QB Factory.  Minshew is the "In Case of Emergency Break Glass QB".

QB factory was going to resurrect his career over the course of the season so we can trade him to a QB needy team for a 4th down the road.

They’ll tell you to be the backup QB regardless of who’s the starter next year.

I predict Minshew will play this season at some point. My guess is it will take an injury (real or team concoucted to save Hurts face) in order for that to happoen this year.

No he wouldn't.  He would get the ball out quick to those wide receivers that Sirianni is scheming wide open. ....all the time.

Hurts hasn’t been stellar , but the eagles are lacking everywhere

Fair -- but Aaron Rodgers only has 1 Super Bowl in 14 years because people say he doesn't have enough talent around him (although I think the actual reason is he's an entitled flake).  It's a tricky argument which step to take first.
