None of those 3 first rounders matter until the Eagles get a top level franchise QB. Nothing matters. Until that happens they will max out at middling and likely be bad.

Can fantasize about Thibodeaux and Stingley all you want, they'll just be wasted here without a foundation that the Eagles can win with.

It amazes me how people are surprised that a bad team is a bad team.

I think most people had this team ticketed for a 2-7 record through the first nine games, then 3-5 or 4-4 or so for the last eight when the schedule got easier.

And that was before the OL became the walking wounded and Graham went down for the year.

Hurts sucks, but so do Fields, Wilson, Lawrence, Tua, D Jones, Haskins - of the QBs taken in the top 15 the last three years,Murray (#1), Burrows (#1), Herbert (#6) are the only solid starters right now, M Jones is passable.

Imagine if Howie used a top ten pick on one of these six QBs that are currently sucking the big one.

#53 did not doom this franchise.

At least we're probably going to have two top ten picks and a pick in the 15-20 range, a high second, and a bunch of middle round picks.

Now imagine if you're a Dolphin fan.

We aren't surprised that we are a bad team.

We are "surprised" that we are potentially witnessing the worst D this franchise has ever had.

We are "surprised" that we are leading the league in penalties.

We are "surprised" that the entire coaching staff is in over its head.

We are "surprised" that the team (at least some of them) are quitting.

We are "surprised" that our starting QB actually looks worse than last season and seems to be heavily regressing as the season goes on.

There's bad and there's unexciting, uninspired, complete and total failure in every way.

So essentially the Broncos

That is why Pickett or Ridder will be our first pick.

Yep. Precisely.

Franchise QB will attract better coaching candidates. Better GMs if Howie ever gets canned. Even skill position players who they favor the Eagles having a franchise QB. The Bengals have been a laughingstock for years. One year after drafting Burrow and they're in first place in a tough division. Not a coincidence. Chargers with Herbert, etc.

The Eagles are really not worth caring about or paying much attention to until they get an elite franchise QB. Until then, everything else is just window dressing.

Or...how about a good coach and organization that wouldn't have let the Wentz situation get to where it did? We have no idea where he can get back to, but we know who he deteriorated under. That doesn't mean he shouldn't take ownership for his part, but he is an asset they let go to crap.

Not sure I see elite QB in either of them, but it is very Philly to have all these first rounders in like the worst QB class in years. Kinda like when the Flyers got the #2 overall pick in a bad draft class and the Phillies got the #1 pick in an awful MLB class.

Howie will blow his draft capital on another first round QB bust, buying him more time under Lurie, and then when they cut that guy 3 years later you can rinse and repeat.

If you want to depress yourself more mclane had this in his article today

He was a second-round draft pick for a reason. And the Eagles likely projected his struggles, hence they wouldn’t have explored acquiring Deshaun Watson. Roseman can point to the three potential first-round picks the Eagles may receive in next year’s draft all he wants. He’s a master at covering for his mistakes. But the Eagles are still far from having a solution at quarterback

Lurie will entrust his aide with next year’s historically important draft, barring something unforeseen. Those picks will either be used to draft a quarterback or trade for one, which will likely offer additional security for Roseman.

Ridder is the guy with the high ceiling, but will need development ala Josh Allen.

Pickett is having a rise akin to Baker/Burrow/Mac. His ceiling isn't wow worthy but he checks all the boxes.

Watching Ridder in the CFP against Bama and Georgia will be very telling, if he can hold his own, he'll solidify himself as the #1 pick.

Not surprising. And not only will they draft a QB with one of those picks, they'll pass on Stingley or Thibodeaux to do it.

Everyone's gaga over these first rounders, they're so going to botch this situation, and send this team into a decade that will be as bad as the 90s.

Telling you, the 2020 decade has a chance to be a new dark ages of Eagles football if they aren't careful. They're teetering right now on the brink of oblivion.

I say it every time it comes up but I think Strong will be the best of the bunch.

It’s number 53, and the long line of other mistakes Howie has made since the Super Bowl that has doomed this franchise

There is bad and then there is embarrassing. Your idol, Howie Roseman, has in four short years turned a SB winner into a clown show.

Sweat sure isn't living up to his new contract.

If Gannon is gonna keep playing him in 4I, I expect he won’t be very good.   Maybe Gannon and Howie could of had a conversation about this before Howie paid him.
Gannon has had Sweat in and out of Cedric Thornton’s old spot back in 2015.   Thornton as some may remember is 290lbs, Sweat is closer to 255.
Philly is a 4-3 town Jonathon, deal with it or GTFO, lol.

We could be in a position to land them both. Would be wild.

The DE is going one, I doubt we get that high. Even if we did, we need so much, I'd honestly rather cash that in for a hefty ransom. It won't be as big as a QB type trade, but it will be big enough. With the amount of failed picks on this team combined with older players that are about to be done, I'd sacrifice that pick to get a bounty over the course of this draft and the following.

ESPN put out a piece today that said Watson is open to be traded to a plethora of teams and just wants to get out of Houston at this point.

That always made the most sense to me. A guy who's being accused of heinous things and is in a place he loathes isn't going to play hard to get.

I know people here don't want him, but I'm telling you the Eagles missing out on him assuming he gets cleared to play at some point in the near future, they're going to regret it for a long time. The ripple effects could be huge:

-If Miami gets him and he plays it could affect the first rounder

-There is no obvious path to another franchise QB. Unless you want a 33 year old Russell Wilson who may or may not even be available. He's a franchise legend, I still doubt they trade him. And if the Eagles are 2-3 years away from contention, that means Wilson will be 35-36 when they're ready to contend.

-It could lead to Howie like just mentioned reaching on a QB in the upcoming draft and blowing draft capital on the wrong QB class.

You saw something similar with the Sixers and Harden. They weren't able to get a deal done. What it has led to since:

-The Nets being a super team(if Kyrie ever gets vaccinated lol and gets back on the court)

-It made Ben Simmons disgruntled and set that down a contentious path toward divorce

-Sixers had no other options in the offseason to trade for once they didn't get Harden. They were banking on Lillard or Beal and neither were available, so they're left scratching their asses.

Putting the morality stuff aside, this is the clearest and most obvious way to get an young elite franchise QB, and if they miss out on this then it's going to be rued for years to come.

It’ll be hilarious if we lose to Joe Flacco

Backup qbs are worth 2nd round picks.  Eagles got ripped.
