Dumb stat.  Cam Newton passed for 1k yards in his first 3 starts.  He also had 1,770 yards of total offense in his first 5 starts, but we are supposed to be excited about 400+ less yards over the same amount of games ??

The eagles should be able to throw the ball in this game. The atlanta pass defense was atrocious last year. They finished 32nd in the league giving up 293.6 passing yards per game. It’s not likely they improved all that much with the offseason moves they’ve made. Also the Falcons run defense was actually good at 104.8 yards per game which ranked 6th. Some of that is teams elected to throw more cause of how bad their pass defense and some of that is as the season went along they were much better against the run.

I have no idea what to expect of this game.  New coaching staff, new schemes on both sides of the ball, some new players on both sides of the ball and I know little about the Falcons as they seem about as interesting as wallpaper.  I have read that their OL and DL both aren't very good where ours could be considered our 2 biggest strengths and being able to win the war in the trenches usually makes for a good result.  That being said I'll go with:

Eagles 23

Falcons 20

I think it’s partially that. I think looking at yards per rush attempt probably gives a better perspective on it. They ranked tied for 11th at 4.3/4.4 (depending on which site you use). So definitely teams choose to take the free air yards but they were actually better at stopping the run.
