Afan is now working on a long list of random names....

I think he should go with former players that are doing well elsewhere like Jordan Hicks.

I’m in trust the process mode of the rebuild where the draft is the best day of the season. It started really the week Dallas killed us.

I knew once Dallas beat the team that there was no hope for Hurts.  I know now that everyone needs to be gone.  I would actually be OK if Sirianni is here another year.  If the process doesn't end with Howie being out after this season, I will lose all hope.

I got bad news for you, i think they expected to be bad and this year they got forced to seeing if hurts was or wasn’t the guy cause they couldn’t pull the trigger on a deal to get their franchise QB for the long term. so i expect they are likely keeping him around.

Who are potential GM candidates if the unthinkable happens and Lurie cans Howie?

Keep in mind Luries quote about how they have so many future GM's in the building. It would be an in house promotion.

Alec Hallaby or Catherine Raiche. Someone like that.

Watch lurie hire gettleman

LOL!!  I've really enjoyed gettleman.  He's been everything I expected, and more.  No risk in Lurie hiring him, as he is more likely to try to find someone he can sell that he can also push around.

That said, it would take considerable fan and community outrage to get him to consider pushing his lackey out.

I get the sense Lurie isn’t comfortable unless he has someone as his right hand man who he trusts with undying loyalty. And handing the reins over to Chip probably made him, even more so. He allowed an outsider to win the power struggle, it backfired, and now he’s probably emotionally scarred from it and now obsessively protective of letting anyone he doesn’t fully trust near the controls.

And he loves Don. I just can’t see him giving an outsider the president of football ops title. Would he entrust that power to someone he doesn’t know?

This is true, however I think Lurie also got much more involved post-visor on the football decisions, and wrongly evaluates himself and his lackey's prior decisions and capabilities.

Lurie is now Faux Jerry Jones.  He is every bit as involved, makes every ultimate decision, but has a sidekick to hide behind.  "Collaborative approach."  I don't think he will give up this role, unless he faces an extended period of unprecedented failure.  He does seem to be on his way there....

If only Howie had some skeletons in his closet that would force Lurie's hand....it feels like that's the only way out of this relationship at this point

I could write some emails to him about who he needs to draft and when he replies ****, or ****, we could put it all over social media.
Although I’m not sure I could live up to the hero status instantly bestowed upon his firing.

Did he exchange any dirty jokes or insults over email with Bruce Allen or John Gruden back in 2010-2011???  If so, cancel him immediately.

There is ways to figure out NFL employees email address'.  That is how I got reinstated on the old board, got Spuds on the line to help a brother out.

Rick Smith - former Texans GM

Mike Borgonzi - Kansas City Chiefs Director of Football Operations

Morocco Brown - Indianapolis Colts Director of College Scouting

Terry Fontenot - Saints VP/assistant GM of pro personnel

Will McClay - Cowboys VP of player personnel

Were you spending too much time in R&R?  That’s what I did, still wasn’t banned though.

And direct phone lines. I oversee the very tools for our sales org that find contact info. I've called Howie's direct line before and left a voicemail.

I'm all about finding someone from an organization that adds talent consistently.  Unfortunately, Dallas is up there on that list.

The most important thing is that whoever is hired has full authority, and we don't hear nonsense about "collaborative approach" i.e. current owner/GM still running things, only with a new lackey.

This is a pipe dream, I'm not letting myself get too far ahead.  No way the owner/GM does the right thing.  The draft record is so abysmal, if he didn't make the change last year... he will run it back with the lackey, completely blow the most important draft they've ever had and hire yet another coaching staff.  Hopefully more "collaborative" guys loaded with emotional intelligence, perhaps with a sprinkling of whatever the new 2021-22 season NFL buzzwords will be.

My guess is that Howie isn't canned but moved into some other role ala Joe Banner and he brings in Dorsey like he did with Modrak.   Dorsey then ruins our 3 first round picks like he did when he was the GM of the Browns.

Howie can control both the GM and the coaches then

I don't have a definite answer - perhaps 12 or 13? It would depend on evidence of progress. Able to see and complete passes to the entire field? Progress. Not bailing out of the pocket at the hint of pressure? Progress. I don't know that anyone can assign a firm number, I sure can't. I'm not crazy about flushing Minshew without some evidence gathered while an Eagle that he deserves flushing.

There has been no evidence of progress, and he's at 11 starts already.  So, one or two more sounds reasonable.

The way I see it, when Hurts came out after a turd of a game against Dallas and said that he was just going to flush that game, I was ready to move on.  A young QB needs to study the worst film of himself to learn how to get better.  The fact that he wanted to immediately turn the page from that made it apparent that he actually thinks he's arrived as an NFL QB.  He can say whatever other platitudes he wants to about working hard and 1% or whatever.  That game was an opportunity to learn a great deal about himself and how to improve and rather than take that opportunity, he wanted to just move on.   Sorry, that's not how NFL starting QBs are made... they are made by doing the hard STUDYING of the film, not just being a gym rat, but being a film rat.  Seems he wants to work hard in the gym, but not in the film room to improve.   And his apparent lack of film study is made manifest on the field by his inability to see his receivers all over the field and to lock in on his primary read, and even then he releases the ball late more often than not.

I can give him the Detroit game to show that he's making some... even any progress.  Right now, he's actually regressing.  And there's no need to have the entire team regress with him, unless that's actually the goal.  Piss everyone off, tank without tanking and ensure as many high picks as possible.   Of course, if that's the plan, then that's the plan from Lowie, and we have no hope that Howie will be reassigned (I can't believe that he'd ever be 'fired'.) And the saddest part is that if that is the plan (I can't believe it is), then that itself is also a great indictment on Roseman's failures as a GM as well.

I expected to see a lot of losses, but I also expected to see a lot of competitive games that they'd lose just because their defense was porous, or because Hurts wasn't good enough to bring them back in a game at the end.  I didn't expect that the games would be over by and large by the middle of the 3rd quarter and that they'd just be racking up garbage time points and stats.    Saw a graphic that they have 55 points in the 4th quarter, which is 5th highest in the league.  That's a bad sign for a 2 win team... means that they aren't even close in the games they play and teams happily give up yards and points late just to get the game over quicker.

He doesn't want to come to Philly.  Can't imagine why.
