I don’t think the run defense has suffered on some cutback runs where the edge defender chased Ryan rather than reading the handoff. I don’t think it’s been terrible.

They let up a 3rd and 9... on the ground.  They've been bad.   I don't want to hear about a different philosophy.  These LBs suck.

I don’t disagree the linebackers suck. They’ve been out of position end poor tackling today. However i don’t think you’ll see the same philosophy under Gannon we saw under Schwartz in terms of run defense.

Falcons last year were the 32nd pass defense. It’s a good gameplan. They are horrific against the pass. They were solid against the run last year. Finished 6th. 

 

At the same time you have a young QB that didn't play much in preseason. Little worrisome for going forward with just how much we might neglect the run game.

Schwartz also made the secondary responsible for run defense which is why they got burnt in the pass a lot with young guys trying to read the play.

I think early in the game the DL was getting pushed around and moved. Didn’t help the linebackers were consistently missing tackles and out of position.

Love what I've seen in Hurts so far but it's way WAY too early too early for "I told you so!"s.  Atlanta has a handful of really good players but is far from an elite defense, and that's when those missed reads/throws can catch up to you.  

Still hard to complain about his play so far.

Never expected they would be the same.   But regardless... they have sucked at defending the run.  Not sure why Atlanta has abandoned the run when they get in the red zone.
