It's a drug given to horses and cows as a de-wormer. I know he probably didn't take the Veterinarian prescribed pill, and likely took the human form pill but it is still treatment for parasites and does not treat viral infection. It's been studied and proven to not treat COVID. The FDA said "do not take Ivermectin". He's going against all the advice and taking it because he talked to his podcast buddy.

It really hasn't been studied.

For the record, some hospitals do use Ivermectin as a standard in their "treatment cocktails" for COVID. It's usually combined with other drugs. A cocktail of Remdesivir, Ivermectin, and Dexamethasone has been used in some hospitals.

That's irrespective of whether it should be used or not, but some hospitals do use it. Mainly because it's harmless, so there is really nothing to be lost by having someone take it on top of other stuff.

Laser guns?  Thought we’d have them by now, if Gore could invent the internet and Chip  could invent football, surely someone can get us laser guns.

and not picking on UTE, but for some people who watch CNN, or other propagandist news networks and for much of social media, Ivermectin has been politicized.

It's ridiculous, of course, but this is the state of the world today

It's ok I jumped in the tail end if a discussion I wasn't even sure what was talking about, I assumed people were discussing invermectin for covid treatment, I assumed correctly, just answered the question posed by @Iggles_Phan about what's wrong with ivermectin.

to which I replied nothing if one is livestock or has Intestinal worms.

ivermectin has been used for 35 years to treat parasites in livestock and occasionally humans.

Im not aware of Joe Rogan situation or privy to his discussion with his Dr.

I actually had my yearly physical 2 days ago, my Dr and I talked a lot about vaccines, and she recommended I get my booster, we didn't discuss ivermectin because as stated I'm neither livestock nor have intestinal parasites, so I didn't bring it up nor did i ask my doctor about alternatives to a covid booster, at which case she might have talked to me about ivermectin, I'm not sure?

I know that we've been warned to not use invermectin without direction from a medical professional I also remember people going to their local farm supply store getting invermectin and eating them like tic tac, they won't put an FDA approved vaccine because they do t trust their government but they'll take a medicine used for livestock no problems.

my doctor actually talked about having a patient who smoked two packs a day and wouldn't get the vaccine, my Dr said, shell put all that crap in her body from cigarettes but is worried about the vaccine???

anyway this is more than I wanted to write on the subject, carry on with your vaccine/ horse medicine debate.

There's no room for discourse. Vaccines are a god send to humanity, anybody that opposes them is wrong. It's that simple.

Well...  speaking only of the COVID vaccines

And again I support the COVID vaccine. But...

I have no problem with anyone who wishes to wait a while longer to see what the potential long term ramifications are to each Vaccine. The bottom line is we just dont have that info. This is why I am 100% against a mandate.  And if you already have had COVID and survived it without issues, why would you risk getting the vaccine not knowing the long term effects?

For me, I am older I do have hypertension, even though I am fairly healthy. So I risked getting the Vaccine to lower my chances of having a bad case of COVID , I weighed the risks, against the risks of getting COVID and having it be bad for me.  but for a large portion of those that get COVID it's not much of a problem.

That's a lot of supposition.

Nope.  It's called science.   To dismiss something as ineffective, it needs to be studied on a large scale to determine its effects or ill effects.   It is a perfectly SAFE drug for humans and has been used for decades FOR HUMANS. So, taking it causes NO HARM, and may offer hope, if not an actual treatment.

Where's the harm in taking it?

No recoil or muzzle blast, what's the fun in that - probably need a lot batteries too.  Rather go the opposite direction, black powder like the founding fathers intended.

If I get covid I'm gonna take whatever my doctors tell me to take.

Would we welcome Aaron to the Eagles if he showed up?

There's no harm in taking lots of different medicine doesn't mean I'm going to start popping random meds like candy in an attempt to treat something that that medicine wasn't designed to treat.

Ivermectin is used to treat parasites, originally in livestock then humans and it's shown to be very effective at doing that, might ivermectin be useful against covid??? maybe, there isn't any scientific evidence yet to show that it does and rather than taking it upon my self to be my own medical trial I'll leave it to the professionals to run those and wait for results before I start eating invermectin because why not.???

I still use them, In-line no flint lock.   5mph wind and pouring powder is like draining oil from a car in 50mph wind.

It has been used a lot with humans too.  Joe Rogan shared his discussion with his doctor and took the drug as prescribed.

Just throwing this out there as useful knowledge.  My boxer just tore his ACL.  He's a 7 year old dog.  They gave me 2 medications for the time being.  One for inflammation and one for pain.

The first thing they told me is that these medications are for humans but can also be used for dogs.

Same goes for Ivermectin, see below.  It's a human medication.  As a matter of fact, the 2 scientists who discovered the medication were awarded the Nobel Prize based on it's effectiveness against parasitic diseases.  None of this has to do with Covid, but it 100% debunks anyone saying that a person taking it is taking horse medication.  Anyone taking it is taking a 100% effective medication for humans based on some reports that it might help with Covid symptoms.  It isn't a cure for Covid.  Joe Rogan made that clear.  I'd advise people who bash Joe Rogan to give a chance and listen to him.  IMO, he's about as real as it gets as a Libertarian and explores answers from any direction.  It's refreshing to listen to.

Ivermectin is an anti-parasite medication used to treat parasitic diseases.

Ivermectin is an FDA approved drug for use in humans to treat a variety of parasitic infections including parasitic worms, hookworm and whipworm. It may also be used as an effective treatment for a wide range of other conditions and as a treatment of onchocerciasis, intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis or river blindness.

I knew it was safe when rich people and the politicians got it first.  If they handed it out in the inner cities like they did draft cards for Vietnam, then you’d know it was dangerous.

Just let us laugh at Aaron Rodgers giving a bizarre interview, jeez.

Tbh, knowing the state of things right now, I wouldn't be shocked if more people are disappointed that Rodgers was using "right wing talking points" than they were that he wasn't vaccinated.

I think for some(not all) people, that's what it boils down to.

The way people in the media turn on someone when they promote any type of belief, vaccine or otherwise, that isn't squarely on the left side of the aisle, a portion of the media completely turns on them.

And I'm as pro vaccine as it gets. And it is true that if you aren't vaccinated, you're more likely to catch and spread the virus. You're also more likely to die and get severe illness.

However, vaccinated people can catch and spread it too.

If the vaccine works so well and everyone must get it, then someone in your locker room who may spread it shouldn't be as much of a concern. If you say that Rodgers is a significant danger to others by not being vaccinated, then you're essentially indirectly admitting that the vaccines don't work that well. You can't have it both ways.

Honestly, the best argument is vaccination will slow down mutations into new strains. But even with that, viruses usually mutate to become less deadly, since their survival depends on not killing hosts.

That's cool I'm not Joe Rogan nor is Joe Rogans DR. my Dr so I don't really make medical decisions based off what Joe Rogans Dr  told Joe Rogan to do

I talk to my own Dr and my wife and my sister in law who is a medical professional I trust and make medical decisions accordingly.
