It's a horrid division.  What's confusing about it?  lol.

That the Eagles have had multiple head scratching player and coaching performances, and 2 other teams have beaten that in the NFCE. Only Meyer and Campbell should be worse than that

I don’t think Rodgers is leaving Green Bay after this season. Love ain’t it.

And I suspect he knows that Love ain't it and would rather they invested in another DB instead 😉

Howie has done such a bad job of building this defense.

(let's see if afan reverses his opinion here to defend Howie)

Is Nick calling the defensive plays or Gannon?

If they were wanting to fire Reich after 1 year, and have dictated changes to the staff in recent years, then I wouldn't be shocked.

They care A LOT more about the style of offense than the performance of the defense. Gannon is playing the same trends as other top DCs — bend but don’t break, limit big plays.

I think he's going down with that ship.

The lack of blitzing is still the most concerning thing about Gannon.

I just put his mind in a pretzel with that one.

We got called for a personal foul on the play.

It's breaking quite a bit.

What bugged me about Schwartz was his d was so vanilla and predictable and Gannon clearly took that as a challenge and one upped him.

At least In Schwartz predictability it was occasionally effective, Gannon's been a vanilla train wreck.

Meh.

They've also held 4 opponents under 18 or fewer points.  Falcons - 6, 49ers - 17, Panthers - 18, Lions - 6.  The trouble is against the better QBs, it can get ugly.  He's working with bad personal, and has selected death by a thousand paper cuts to getting killed with the big play.  I've got no issue with Gannon... yet.

We called at least two today. The Nelson personal fouls and a ridiculous safety blitz from like 15 yards deep.

For sure.

No.  But, the other 4 games have been.

That's nothing that 7 paragraphs about how players get old and sometimes you gamble and lose can't address.

It's true though.  The defensive talent level is below league average.  And more importantly, they are void of talent at the LB and S positions, which means the middle of the field is wide open.

Yup the personnel on D isn't helping.

Sure wish he wasn’t a train wreck passing the ball on the opening drive.

Yeah. I’ve been as critical as anyone on Hurts but I really can’t blame him for today. He looked competent at times and actually threw a few from the pocket which was a sight for sore eyes.

This Defense needs players at all three levels. It’s horrible.

I do think the NFL has destroyed defensive football.

I'm a bit out there in this belief, but I do think that most low scoring games involve offenses stopping themselves more than anything else.  With the way games are officiated, a good, effective passing offense just is not going to be stopped.  Offensive football has just become a game of paddle ball (or whatever it is) on the beach...the number you ring it up to depends on your execution, not the defense.

So I actually think there may be some wisdom in obtaining league average defense using minimum capital investment.  Vanilla, conservative, zone heavy schemes are one way to raise subpar talent to average results.  Then construct an offense that absolutely does not sputter.

It's one reason I'm hesitant to invest all 3 first round picks in rebuilding the defense this April.

Because he was so well regarded around the league. They’ll be patient with him IMO.

Being well regarded means nothing if you give up 5 80% QB completion percentage in 9 games. More than the team gave up in every other season combined. Hype means nothing, the results matter.

Of course. It’s still a small sample size, and I think they think he’s gonna be a good one.

This is the only type of game plan Hurts can excel in, and it’s terrible. I just want to see someone else in the offense. Someone said it earlier, but this is what you run when you’re waiting for your starter to get back from injury. Hurts is not it.

I mean I hope if they keep him he does become a good one. But he so far is clueless and refuses to adjust.
