It’s like Gannon is playing scared. He lets the short/immediate pass look automatic. No wonder the reports said Hurts looked great in practice. If teams drive the whole field, control the ball, and score then why not change it up and be aggressive? Against bad QBs he calls an aggressive game. Against good ones he plays soft and lets them tear the defense apart. Its just insanity. Hit them, get them off their game.

He has good, not great CBs, and safeties who run 4.7 40s. If he played aggressive, we'd see a half dozen big plays a game against us.

Fire him now.

I think there's a middle ground between playing so aggressive and super conservatively...

They score anyway. At least being aggressive may cause more turnovers. Again thats playing scared.

He's an inexperienced DC, that is obvious. He'll have to learn on the job if he wants to keep it because he isn't where he needs to be yet.

This is the only type of game plan Hurts can excel in, and it’s terrible. I just want to see someone else in the offense. Someone said it earlier, but this is what you run when you’re waiting for your starter to get back from injury. Hurts is not it.

It was me.   And that's where my head is watching him out there.   Sirianni thought he'd have Wentz... and he doesn't.  He has Hurts and tried to run a more aggressive passing attack with Hurts, and this is what it has morphed into.  So, now he's leaning into it with the power running game and QB design runs.  I am not a fan of this style of offense.  Power running?  Absolutely.  QB designed runs?  Absolutely not.

I guess it takes a game like this to realize that the defense is (by far) the biggest issue with this team.  You could have Tom Brady at QB and this team won’t win a thing with a defense like this.  Worst Eagles defense in a very long time, IMO.

Gannon has tried to find it, but it's tough. He just doesn't have the personnel, and the young athletes he has are too raw.

Look at Taylor, some great stops, but he simply is too raw to take advantage of his speed right now, but next year ???

Edwards has great instincts, but lacks speed, but with the right safeties and OLBs, his deficiencies can be covered and his virtues emphasized.

They have a stable of young athletic DBs, but we're talking 2022 or 2023. The DL is paper thin, and so on.

They're not terrible, which is an accomplishment when you lack talent

The entire coaching staff is rather inexperienced.  I think that's the biggest issue with the building of the coaching staff.  I wanted an old guy that has been around in the coordinator role added, even if only at a position coach level.  They chose not to.  And because of that, there will be growing pains with the coaching staff.   Overall, I'm not upset with the coaching.  I am much more upset with the roster construction.

With Hurts, definitely. With almost any other QB, no way. Hurts is almost as good a runner as Lamar, and probably more durable.

And it buys time, like it did with Lamar and Murray, to learn how to play QB.

Yup.  I wonder why.  🤔

It all starts with Gannon and the guy is clearly over his head.  Zero Chance Jim Schwartz doesn’t get at least ONE freaking stop so that the offense can get back on the field tonight.  That was pathetic.

Yup the personnel on D isn't helping.

In the first half Gannon had both safeties deep on short yardage plays.  And if the underneath stuff is getting to 8-15 yards a pop no need to go deep.  I've rarely seen a defense that allows 75 yard+ TD drives in 4 minutes with passes rarely more than 6-7 yards beyond the LOS.  The amount of space receivers have after the catch is ridiculous.

And Hurts ain't good enough.  He had one good series throwing the ball, the Smith TD.  Otherwise he was below average.  Well below.

You could make an argument that there is enough talent to be better than they are, too. Hargrave, Cox, Sweat, Barnett is a fine enough DL group to get some pressure. Slay is a top corner. Nelson and Maddox have done well.

Every defensive coordinator has to manage deficiencies in linebackers, safeties, or wherever on the field. That's part of the job.

He has slightly below average personnel, and the defensive largely hasn't been competitive.

Lamar is a much much better runner than Hurts is.

I agree.  Gannon is a wuss calling Jesse, or whatever.  He blows.

Most pathetic defense of all time. Gannon is hurting Siris chances of coming back.

He is on pace to give up the best completion % against a team in NFL history. There has been many inexperienced DCs in NFL history. There are plenty of guys who can learn on the job or experienced DC. This guy has no clue on a historical level and needs to go.

Looking at Tankathon, this is likely where the final picks could very well end up...

Miami - 3
Philadelphia - 7
Indy - 14

That would be a nice group of picks.

You don't need to convince me... I wasn't a fan of his after the way I saw him lining the defense up Week 1.

He has a steep learning curve ahead if he's to become a good DC.

Is Hargrave injured? He's been MIA

Oh I know. I was adding to your point but think he should be fired tomorrow and not get that chance
